Look, Jason was busy. A new criminal was trying to make a stake in Crime Alley. Dealing with that meant that he wasn’t able to get Percy a real gift.
Which is also what led him to be in the shopping district, trying to find a gift for Percy. That's when he got a call from Ana.
Ana was their social worker who had been helping them try to foster a kid.
“Hello?” Jason said, making his way through the mall.
“Mr. Todd?” Ana said, and Jason sighed quietly. He had told Ana to call him Jason multiple times, but she never did. “Yup, what can I help you with?” Jason asked.
“Oh, good! I have some good news for you and Mr. Jackson.” Ana said. That got Jason to almost stop where he was walking. “Yes?” Jason responded, making sure he kept his voice level, years of being a Crime Lord helping him there.
“Well, there has been a slight emergency, and I know that you and Mr. Jackson have said that you are ok with taking in a meta-human kid,” Ana started.
“Yes. We are ok with taking in one if needed.” Jason responded.
Ana let out a sigh, “Recently, there was a meta-human trafficking ring, and there was one kid who didn’t have any family. Would you be ok with taking them in?” Ana asked.
Meta-human trafficking ring? They better have caught everybody, and they better not have been in Crime Alley, or he was going to bust some kneecaps.
“Yes, I definitely would, I’m not currently out with Percy, but I could definitely call him and see,” Jason responded.
Ana let out another sigh, “Thank you so much, and luckily, that you two have already been approved for fostering the kid, and if you can handle it, you should be able to adopt them shortly.”
Jason smiled. This is where he and Percy wanted to take their relationship, and hopefully, it would end up well.
“Alright, I’ll call Percy. Where and when should we meet you?” Jason asked. “How about tomorrow, 10 AM, could you do it at the adoption place in Bludhaven?” Ana replied.
“Yes, we should be able to meet you there, thank you, Ana,” Jason said.
Jason could hear Ana’s smile over the phone as she said, “You're welcome.”
They hung up the call. Jason still needed a gift for Percy, but tomorrow was Christmas, and maybe this could count as a gift, maybe a surprise.
Percy said that he was ok with a meta-human kid, maybe this wouldwork.
