An Autumn Poem

Work Text:

Autumn. A time of change. The leaves on the trees are all different colors; orange, red,
yellow, brown and dark green. The small gust of wind blowing through the hair. The
raindrops smattering against the window while inside reading a book and having a cup of tea.

Autumn. The time of reflection, a time to let go. A time of refreshing. A time for something
new. Like the leaves that fall down from the trees, one needs to think what does one want to
keep or let go? To let go of old memories of mistakes, wrongs and faults and reflect on the
new possibilities. The things one learned. How one had changed into a better version of
oneself. To grow. To explore. To let go of those painful moments, to let in new, pleasant
memories.

To enjoy the moment. The present. Right now. Today. Tomorrow is another day entirely.
Living is what we do now. To take in the small things and spend time with those we hold
dear. Sometimes with them. Sometimes with oneself. Like autumn, there might be days of
rain, days of sun. Days of brightness, days of darkness. But there is always a new day. A new
chance. A new opportunity.

Autumn. A time for peace and calm. To have a quiet moment. To feel tranquility. To be able
to step back. To take a pause. To take a breath. To allow oneself to enjoy a minute, a second,
an hour, a day to feel at ease. To allow the thoughts to flow freely, but also for a time to tell
oneself to sort them out. To feel certainty and challenge the doubt. To be able to believe in
oneself. To be able to feel the inner strength. To find peace.

Autumn. A time of beauty and pleasure. To see the frost in the grass before it thaws during
the day. To see the fog in the forest one early morning. To feel the soft wind caressing one's
cheek. To feel the coolness of the air. To hear the crusting sound of leaves under the shoes. To
hear the laughter of children jumping into a bundle of leaves. To hear the birds’ song as they
fly away into the unknown. To feel the silence. The raindrops against the ground. To see the
dew glistening in the grass.

Autumn.
