Candlelit Evenings Spent In Bed

Summary:

Katsuki and Izuku reminisce over their childhood and highschool years together over a cup of tea in bed

Notes:

Hey Bowieeeee! Here is a small fic I wrote for you. On the day I posted this, it's been exactly 6 months since I met you. Since then you have made my life infinitely better. You are the nicest and kindest and most beautiful person I've ever met. You genuinely mean so much to me it's difficult to put into words. I think bkdk is one of your favourite ships so I wanted to write a fic of them for you. I hope you like it and I can't wait to see you on new years xxx

Work Text:

The pair had been laying in bed for a while, basking in the silence. It had been one of the rare days where both of them had the day off, so of course they had to spend the day doing absolutely nothing. Their apartment was quite cozy; houseplants in every room, hero posters scattered across the walls, dishes that didn't match but somehow did, well used pillows and blankets draped over the sofa, small lamps always used instead of the big lights. It was home.

"Kacchan?" Izuku whispered, putting down his book and rolling over to face his husband.

"Hmm?" He replied, red eyes not leaving the spreadsheet he was working on.

"Can you go make me a cup of tea?"

".....No. Go do it yourself," Katsuki mumbled, glaring at the green-haired man laying next to him.

"Pleeaaasseeee, look you're already sitting up you should go do it and you're better at making tea than I am," He pleaded, batting his eyelashes and rolling around in mock distress.

"Hmm..... fine. Only 'cause I love you," Katsuki whispered, kissing his husband's forehead gently before getting out of bed and walking towards the door.

"Aww you love me" Izuku giggles, that nerdy smile plastered over his freckly face.

"Yeah, I love you and your fat as-"

"KACCHAN!"

A few minutes later Kasuki came back, two mugs in his hands; a plain black one with Dynamite's signature orange cross emblazoned on the front, and Izuku's favourite All Might mug (yes he has several) that has 'PLUS ULTRA' written down the handle. Izuku could smell the green tea from where he was lying on the bed.

"Thanks Kacchan,"

The bed dipped as Katsuki sat down again, his legs now draped over Izuku's. That all too familiar caramel smell filled Izuku's nose. It was one of his favourite things about his husband.

A comfortable silence had filled the room. The only thing that interrupted it was the intermittent flicker of candles or the occasional sip of tea.

"Kacchan?"

"Oh what now?" He retorted, that signature grumpy from starting to form on his face.

"Do you remember, when you fell in that river, y'know when we were little-"

"OHMYGOD YES IZUKU I REMEMBER-"

"I was just reminding you, no need to get feisty!" Izuku giggled as he raised his eyebrows and took a sip of tea.

"Alright then De-ku, do you remember your first hero costume, y'know the one with-"

"THE STUPID BUNNY EARS OHMYGOD YESYESYES I REMEMBERR!" He screeched, frantically covering his quickly reddening face.

"You looked hilarious!" Katsuki chuckled, taking a sip of tea.

"Fine. Do you remember at the first sports festival, where they had to restrain you because you were so angryy?" He replied with a smirk, elbowing his husband lightly.

"OI don't elbow me you brat! And don't remind me of that.... shit that was really embarassing...."

"Sorry...."

The silence resumed, slightly less comfortable than before. Several of the candles had burnt out now, and darkness was closing in.

"Uh, do you remember when we were really young, and we had those matching All-Might onesies? I swear I still have mine somewhere..." Katsuki said, resting his head on Izuku's shoulder.

"Me too! I think my mum might've kept it somewhere at her house," Izuku exclaimed, leaning into the touch. "I'm getting a bit tired Kacchan, and I've got patrol first thing tom-"

"Go to sleep then 'zuku" His husband murmured, taking the empty cups and setting them down next to the bed.

"Goodnight Kacchan," Izuku whispered, kissing Katsuki lightly.

"Night Nerd."
