Work Text:

All I want for Xmas

It was the first, hopefully of many more to come. A family celebration of Saturnalia Holiday for the newly formed couple.

Dean and Castiel, the two spending it together with their family and friends.

Alas, still no Castiel anywhere.

The heavenly angel having gone off on a mission as a favour to his former associates even if the two were officially retired from any kind of supernatural related jobs. Simply concentrating their life on the two of them and their family but of course. Nothing less or more.

Dean having prepared everything in their home for the upon coming celebration. The edibles and drinks, the decorations of their home and making sure their family and friends being present, the lot of them already having arrived.

But still no Castiel to be seen.

The others were still in full swing, celebrating the seasonal cheer while singing and playing board games after their plentiful dinner together. And yet, Dean felt alone even amongst the others, his closest people.

As all he wanted, was Castiel to be there with him spending this time together. Their very first.

And so, deciding on some alone time, while lighting a candle in the window and… making a wish to the universe out there.

“Please Cas, come back too me.” The hushed words were spoken.

As it was, Dean worried about his angel. The mission a dangerous one, but Castiel had insisted on going on it alone. Never again wanting to jeopardised his love. His Dean.

A lone tear fell, then another. Dean sniffled, the tears falling freely.

The tinkling of a bell was heard suddenly. But there was only darkness there.

Dean had fallen asleep waiting for his love to come back to him.

But then, he felt it. The light touch on his shoulder. Warm and familiar, comforting even.

“Hey love did you miss me?”

Castiel, was back! Dean jumping into his arms without any qualm.

“Always!”

They kissed gently, the mistletoe there for the effect, but they did not really matter now.

The important thing was, that Dean had his precious angel back.

“Sorry sweetie, I forgot the present I had planned for you…” Castiel apologised.

“It’s alright, my sweet angel, as all I have ever wanted, was you.”
