Work Text:
Jason didn’t celebrate his birthday- not after his death and resurrection and you respected this- really. But you wanted him to have a day for himself, to feel as special as he is.
So you prepared it. You baked him muffins and planted a red candle on it- nothing big so he wouldn’t be overwhelmed. Got him a gifts- the signed first copy of a book he really loves, couple necklaces with a book charm with both of your names engraved on it and a framed family picture- it was a family picture you were included with the rest of his siblings, Alfred, Selina, Bruce and everyone else in the family.
You were waiting for him in the living room, lights out. He was out late- probably protecting Gotham somewhere. When you finally heard the door getting unlocked, you lit up the candle and waited for him to enter the living room. Once he walked in, opening the light, you sighed in relief to see him uninjured then smiled widely. “Happy birthday my love, thank you for being born.”
You wanted to sing for him but you didn’t want to overwhelm him. Jason froze, eyes wide open. “For me?” He pointed at himself with his finger. “Yes, for you, Jay, I am so grateful that you’re born that I wanted to give you a thank you gift”
Jason bursted out laughing, running up to you and reaching out for a hug. You stopped him with your free hand and pointed at the muffin in your hand. He chuckled and blew out the candle.
Your eyes widened in horror. “But you didn’t wish anyth-“ He cut you mid sentence with a loving kiss, smiling widely into the kiss. “You are everything I could wish for. I love you.” He whispered against your lips.
You blushed. “Still… at least eat the muffin and open your gifts?” You asked with hopeful eyes. “Sure….” He took a bit from the muffin and kissed you again, pushing the cake inside your mouth. “How does it taste, sweetheart?”
Your heart felt like exploding and you pushed him away. “Jason!” You said warningly. “What?” He grinned, acting innocent.
“Open your gifts!” He chuckled at your excitement and opened the first package, revealing the book. He stood there, flabbergasted, starring at the book. “Signed…? First copy?” You nodded and he kissed you again- of course you enjoyed the kisses but you wanted to see him open the other gifts too.
Yet, you didn’t push him away, letting him kiss you until you were both breathless, his tongue dancing with yours until you broke apart to breathe. While you were breathless, panting, he opened the next gift. He smirked at the necklace, eyes heart shaped. “Beautiful… just like you, my love.”
He put one of the necklaces on you while you watched his happy expression, then, he handed you the other and sat down on his knees so you could reach his neck to put on the necklace. You slowly put on the necklace, kissing his head. “You like it?” He nodded, humming. “I love it… it’s perfect for us.” He pulled you down on his lap, kissing you again. He couldn’t get enough of you.
Soon enough, you had forgotten about the last gift, too focused on the way his lips felt, tongue tasted and breath filled you. The way his hands felt on your body, the way you could feel every inch of him against you. “Ja-“ He didn’t let you finish, kissing you more. When he finally showed mercy and pulled back, it took a couple minutes to remember what you were doing- besides kissing him that is- his birthday gifts.
“Open the last one, after that you can devour me.” He grinned at your complaints, taking the last gift in his hands with you still in his lap.
You watched how his eyes teared up, brushing his thumb over the faces. “Thank you… I forgot that we even took this picture…”
That night, he didn’t let you sleep. If every birthday will be like this, he could start celebrating again.
