Chapter Text
“You don’t seriously expect me to believe this, do you?” You asked. “You want to travel the world with me and go on ‘crazy adventures’ when you have your life and passion, as well as your yellow sidekick, all right here? There is nothing that special about me.”
Four stared, saying absolutely nothing. Their weird blinking was normal, but at the same time a bit unsettling in this context. You were sitting in a kinda-dark room, lit only by a few lamps, and they were sitting across from you as if this was an interrogation. You already knew not to bother wasting your breath on asking if they’re alright. They’d answer when they were ready.
“…Well.”
‘Well’? What was ‘Well’ supposed to mean? You stared in confusion as they said absolutely nothing.
Only 60 seconds passed, but it felt like eternity.
“…Well.”
This time, they said it with that signature “moving-their-mouth-without-moving-their-face” thing, and a smile.
This left you stunned. It felt a bit out-of-character for them. They never seemed to care much about you (especially given the hundreds of mutilations they had performed on your body), but they wanted to go on some life journey with you? To be fair, they have always been a bit random, so maybe this was just one of their little quirks. Then again, you did know that they had a need for validation. Maybe this was just that need manifesting..? But considering how unpredictable they were at times, you couldn’t really tell.
You were left with your head spinning for (at least what felt like) around 20 minutes before their blue hand reaches out to you, firmly gripping your shoulder.
“Yes, or no?”
You weren’t sure. It didn’t sound half-bad, but at the same time, the idea of Four proposing such a thing made absolutely zero sense.
Your hands started shaking. “Could you tell me more-”
“YES. OR NO.” Four’s angry voice pierced through you like a bunch of needles being inserted into your skin; sharp, quick, but not unbearable.
You nodded quickly. Your body wanted to say no, but the only thing that seemed to come out was yes. The pressure of making a decision was scary, especially since you didn’t exactly know their plan. But it was too late. They were already smiling widely.
Their other hand wrapped around your body.
“Great choice!” They started excitedly mumbling nonsense. They were so happy! But were you? You felt nervous. Uneasy. Scared about what you just agreed to.
“It’s time for the p r o c e s s .” The word ‘process’ was said with an extra sort of…funk to it. But what was ‘the process’? Sounded odd.
Four poofed himself away. Then a few minutes passed.
A long few minutes. You looked down at your watch. 13:47. 13:48. 13:49. 13:50. 13:51. 13:52. 13:53. 13:54. 13:55. 13:56. 13:57.
Poof. They were back…and you quickly looked up. They were holding a syringe - a huge one - with some sort of yellow fluid.
They slid over to you and jabbed it in. No questions, no concern. It’s like they didn’t care whether you consented to being given whatever…medication this was or not. Then again, they probably didn’t.
Your vision felt a bit wonky. You started being able to only see things in weird…filters. Everything looked gray, then yellow, then blue, then green, then purple, then orange, then turquoise, then black, then beige, then magenta, then burning red.
BURNING RED.
You started to scream. “FOUR! MY EYES ARE BLEEDING!”
Four tried to relax you - “No, no, no…you’re not bleeding. You don’t have blood.”
Good point, why would objects have blood?
“You’re not bleeding, it’s normal…”
Despite this, you continued screaming, because it still looked like your eyes are bleeding to you and you were pretty scared.
Your vocal cords started to strain, and the screaming slowed down…
Your tired, strained voice barely makes out, “Four, what’s going on?”
Four looked at you carefully. “You’re just becoming a variable. It’s not gonna feel pleasant.”
Excuse you? Had you just heard that correctly? “…becoming a variable.” That couldn’t be right.
“Objects can’t go where we’re headed, buddy! We’re gonna have so much fun!”
Your mouth opened with terror as your eyes filled with immense pain. They started rapidly blinking, then your shoulders and arms were wiggling immensely.
You looked down at your beautiful (in your opinion) nubs, saying a solemn “Goodbye.”
You didn’t know how soon they would go, but you knew that they would.
Four continued staring at you, watching the change with great interest.
The first thing that went different was your skin. It was rapid and quick. Thin, skinny limbs quickly became huge meat slabs.
Then, your vision slowly returned to normal.
Shaky breaths exited your body. Your heart was still racing a lot, but surprisingly…you weren’t too stunned by the change. You weren’t freaking out. And you didn’t understand why. You kinda…wanted to feel badly. This wasn’t normal, and to you, it certainly wasn’t right to do to someone. So why weren’t you absolutely losing it and screaming at the sight of your beloved body being turned into something it wasn’t? Were you just so used to Four’s abuse that it didn’t faze you anymore?
