Chapter 1: {Royal Wedding}

Chapter Text

In the kingdom of Darkling, the servants were ordered to prepare the west wing for the couple. Everyone was surprised; no one had ever entered that wing as a couple. Curiosity was killing them until they knew who this couple was.

The wing was prepared perfectly. They changed the bedsheets for silk ones, added warm blankets, and hung heavy, dark-colored curtains that reflected the silence and tranquility of the room.

He stood on the palace balcony, gazing at the horizon, with one of his aides beside him. "Tomorrow, a child will break," he sighed, clenching his fists. "Yes."

Elsewhere, in King Leon's palace, Lewis awoke from a nightmare. His heart was pounding, uneasily filled with a bad feeling.

He got out of bed and went to the bathroom to wash. After he finished, he changed his clothes.

He took small steps down the stairs, but something was strange! The servants bowed to him excessively. The guards averted their gaze. Their behavior was strange.

He went to the dining hall where his father sat.

"Good morning, Father."

His father didn't answer, but stared at him for a long time. Louis noticed the stare and became flustered.

"Father, did I do something wrong?"

"No, you didn't, but you did the right thing."

"There's something I need to tell you. Our kingdom will form an alliance with the Darkling kingdom."
"Well?"

"This alliance will be through marriage." Lewis swallowed nervously after hearing this.
"Who?"

"You! You will marry the son of the Darkling family."

Lewis jumped up, his eyes wide with shock. Tears began to well up in his eyes.
"No, no! Why me?"
"No one else will. The kingdom will collapse if it falls into his hands."
"By sending your son to his death?"

"If necessary, so be it!" He left him, unconcerned by his ceaseless tears and pleas.

Even the servants and guards were heartbroken for him, for his plight and the misfortune that had led him to the monster's jaws.

The next day, a delegation of servants and attendants from the Darkling Kingdom arrived at the palace to prepare him for the grand wedding to be held there. One of the servants led them to his room. They expected to see a grown man, but they were surprised to find a young boy forced to obey orders instead of being listened to.

They, too, could not intervene or even object, so they began preparing him immediately. He looked at them with tearful, sorrowful eyes. They could not ignore the mournful moans emanating from his chest.

They tried on clothes, even though they had to make him smaller.

But then they heard footsteps approaching, heavy footsteps that filled them with anxiety and fear.

The door creaked open. There he was, standing With his dignified bearing, he possessed an imposing yet terrifying presence.

Luckily for Lewis, he didn't see him in his monstrous form.
He would have fainted from fright.

Everyone bowed to him, but Lewis didn't look at him; his eyes were brimming with tears of fear. He only felt them removed when fingers lifted his chin. His eyes were a terrifying reddish-black compared to Lewis's blue, swollen eyes from crying so much.

He left him, and before going, he ordered them to quickly prepare him for tonight's wedding. No sooner had he said this and left than Lewis collapsed, sobbing. His legs could barely support him.

The servants panicked and tried their best to comfort him, but it was no use; he was completely broken. Finally, one of them approached him and embraced him, not letting go until he calmed down a little.

Hours later, he was led to the wedding hall after being transported to the Darkling Kingdom without even a farewell from his father or a visit to his mother's grave.

11:00 PM

The hall doors opened, and the crowd fell silent! He walked slowly towards Dorian, heading to his wife's altar.

Dorian couldn't tear his eyes away from the sight of him; he was so beautiful, the most beautiful he had ever seen.

He stood a short distance away, and then suddenly felt him being pulled towards him.

Dorian overheard some whispers.

He's so young.

A boy who will be his husband.

He's so beautiful, how will he waste such beauty?

Dorian was so angry that he silenced them with a growl.

They swore they felt the hall shake beneath them.

Lewis covered his ears in fear.

He felt hands gently stroking his back. He flinched at the strange touch, yet fought back tears.

After the atmosphere calmed, the priest stepped forward to deliver the sermon.

When he finished the words and vows, he asked the couple to exchange rings. Even the ring was jet black.
Lewis knew he wouldn't just be a suffocating prisoner in chains.

12:30 AM

Louis walked with Dorian to their room,

Lewis entered the room. It was large and luxurious, yet colorless and lifeless.

He sat on the bed and couldn't control himself; he broke down crying. He didn't know how long he cried, but he cried a lot.

Dorian entered the room after leaving earlier. He found him asleep, curled up, tears still streaming down his flushed cheeks. He didn't even bother to change his clothes. He picked up the blanket, covered him, turned around, and went to sleep on the opposite side of the bed.

These were going to be difficult and painful days for Lewis, and the night would bear witness.
