Work Text:
Today was a cold but jolly day.
Cold for the sense that Brocco had been going around the kingdom with the freezing Cold embedded into his armor, stomping through crunchy snow.
The clouds were up in the sky, a rather gray-ish white as the snowflakes came down from the merry sky, seen by mere eyesight and reflected in the light.
Hot breezes came through as he waved to the other guards and some people, fidgeting absently with the handle of his sword.
Luckily, his hands weren't wet, because that would make his job a lot harder.
Jolly, well, the jolly part-?
Now, fair to that, it wasn't THAT bad-
The whole Broccoli kingdom was in Christmas cheer and present chaos, all those species coming together to find their loved ones, friends and perhaps even enemies the perfect presents.
Different agents combined with gingerbread, peppermint and chocolate being the ones that stuck out, something that everyone who bought them could tell was alluring.
Oh, the lights! The hundreds of beautiful Green and red lights hung around, chattering filling the air and letting that spirit come around.
Even the Music was there, even if the broccoli heard it enough for the month.
Brocco couldn't truly complain about the cold either, being equipped with his special Christmas cape with extra fluff, special metal boots for the snow and some fluff as well inside the armor for safety.
It was peaceful despite the loud chattering in his ear, for today he had a smaller shift than most due to his special position as the head guard.
Today was Christmas after all.
And our dear Broccoli Knight was happy to get home to the ones he called family.
Just before such a thing could happen, he needed to watch out for criminals, stupid robbers and any people deciding to cause ruckus.
Apparently, December was the time of year everyone became a nuisance, as much as their heart had grown for the season.
Stores had been attempted to be stolen from, which had luckily been prevented by the guards that just for this season we're putting more effort in.
Probably for a paycheck and vacation.
Letting out a sigh, Brocco absently brushed the freshly fallen snow off his shoulder, having had a relatively calm day so far.
The King had come by, Karoto had thrown snowballs at him, Nabiu helped lift up some parents alongside them and Wizzro planned a Christmas party with all their friends.
Something to be excited about for sure.
But nonetheless, he had to wait. He had a job to fulfill before those joys could reach him.
Brushing an armored hand through his hair, he looked up to the sky, lifting his mask with the other and staring at the snowflakes and lights.
“Dear Nantes, sometimes I wonder how people can act so weird these days….”
Inside, there was a knowledge as to why.
A hint of greediness, perhaps a poor member of society or someone not understanding happiness at first glance.
And besides, this entire kingdom- No, this entire world had gotten weirded these past few months, especially with so many strange events.
New friends, new people, new everything…Not exactly his kind of thing.
There was something nice about it however, wasn't it?
Cauye If he had heard correctly, this is the first year that Karoto would have a Christmas with everyone.
…
That was something to be happy about too, especially as Nabiu raved about it.
There were other things to worry about for now though, like his barely stretched back.
Brocco groaned, stretching out his arms so that the joints would properly pop into place for the remainder of his shift.
It was rather cold even with his fluffy cape. Having armor made of metal meant a lot of material-wise freezing.
But alas, he could wait. If it meant that this day would end, then-
“LIME!”
Wait.
That was-
THUMP.
With the pain of nearly getting thrown over, he confirmed it was Wizzro.
“A-Ah- Good Afternoon to you too, Lemon.”
Brocco couldn't help but smile fondly, wrapping his arms around the old M.A.G.E and rubbing through the soft yellow fabric he wore for the winter temperatures.
Said M.A.G.E looked up to him even beneath that gigantic hat, softly chuckling and cupping his face with the same adoration as he has for everything else.
“How are you, my dear friend? It must be so cold outside-”
“Wiz, you look colder than me.”
The Guard shook his head, grabbing his puffy cape and wrapping it around Wizzro, making sure he didn't freeze his toes off.
Gladly accepting such a thing, the old human snuggled closer, looking towards the masses going through town, all species different yet with such a similar goal.
Getting presents, enjoying their afternoon and getting ready to be home for Christmas.
Or perhaps they didn't like Christmas and just wanted peace…which was alright too.
You don't have to like Christmas to be happy.
Brocco was just a bit concerned for Wizzro's yellow coat, looking like it would get wet and soaked in just a few minutes.
Yet he didn't decide to question it, admiring the new Poncho that was in that same yellow, adorned with white stripes and light-blue fluff.
Gently, he poked the ear muffs, deciding to question the appearance of the grand magical being he was friends with.
Or well, not magical.
Inventive? Something like that.
“Did you forget to get some presents-?” Brocco asked, before muttering under his breath.. ”Would have thought we got everything…”
That was last Thursday, the presents bring the one in many purchases that night that somehow didn't burst Wizzro's money into the Aether.
Not gonna question it, it just meant everyone's happy-
The roast beef and delicacies they bought for the night must be prepared now, too.
However, the old man only chuckled and shook his head, separating himself from the fluffy cape and instead grabbing his shoulder.
Evidently excited for something by the way he grabbed his hand.
“Please, I would know if I forget to make or buy any presents! This is MUCH more special!”
Before the old Guard could even think of asking what Wizzro had thought of now, his arm was grabbed in an almost hard manner-
Causing the Guard to be dragged off into nowhere, off towards whatever Destination he had in mind.
Even if Brocco wanted to stop it, his dearest Sun was somehow able to pull forward a bunch of armor, so…
Stopping this wasn't really an option.
“ARGH- WIZ-???”
Whatever Guard activity that had been important previously was forgotten in the surprising dragging, following towards the forest.
Whatever Wizzro was cooking up must be important-
Hopefully.
Probably.

When the dragging stopped, they were already halfway through the forest that changed throughout the seasons with the name.
Jingles of grown bell flowers came from the wind, crisp leaves falling from the trees as they grew natural puff around the sharp parts.
Snow fell off every now and then as the flutterpups grew bigger fur for the seasons, most birds having already flown into the warmer regions for the year.
And despite all these trees, Brocco still didn't know what was going as he walked alongside his beloved, trying to understand the plan.
“Alright, so…you're trying to..?”
“I'm trying to get a Christmas tree to decorate for our Christmas Party!”
Wizzro laid it out flat step by step, crushing the snow underneath him with Brocco as they passed by the many trees.
“And you plan on not using an axe or a weapon or anything?”
“Not a single weapon in my hand!”
The grown Broccoli rubbed through his green locks again, tilting his head to the side as they passed a flutterpup group picking at berries.
They gently barked at the two, brushing their head against the armored leg and the fluffy coats.
Brocco was so stoic and stubborn that he immediately picked one up and gently booped the nose, just before letting it go to fly again.
Whatever was going to happen, he expected nothing less than beautiful chaos from this world.
Though, he still put a hand on that yellow poncho.
“My Lemon, do you truly think that this won't fail miserably? I know your staff is quite the device, but-”
“Who said that I'll be using my staff?”
Brocco blinked.
“What.”
“Who said-”
“Nono, I heard you, what do you mean you won't be using the one tool that could perfectly remove a tree?”
It was like a magic word was said as Wizzro's red face was grinning without ever clearly seeing the smile, going a bit faster through the snow and lifting up his coat lightly.
Probably to not fall over it.
Hastily, Brocco followed the confusing human, hearing those amused snickers from over here as he quickly hid away in a bush.
Hid….away?
Oh no.
“Wizzro. What are you planning?”
Whatever was going on, the head guard was having that specific gut feeling that usually came when Karoto tried to steal ten food containers from their fridge.
So, an explanation was what came from the ever-so helpful Wizzro.
“Look forward, Brocco. And keep silent.”
Effectively putting a gloved hand on his mouth, Wiz pulled him forward to show what he had planned, pointing secretly towards-
Oh
Oh no.
That was a LEYLINE.
Staring at the thing that was not innocent at all and could burn down this entire forest if they weren't careful and probably make it sound like horrible, horrible jingle bells from hell-
Brocco turned to his sweet beloved, not getting a word in because Wizzro decided he wanted to explain his plan instead.
G r e a t.
“See this Leyline? I saw a Lycan near it previously, which means it might be in the crack right now…”
Putting down his hand on his clothed armor, Wizzro got into a kneeling position, pushing down the bush and pointing to a beautiful Bell Tree.
The leaves were beautiful, adorned with the natural glowing Bells, having grown fluff around the edges.
Acting like this was the greatest plan ever, he turned completely to Brocco and put both of his hands on his shoulders.
“If we get it to react, we don't need to rip out the trees ourselves and risk getting attacked! It's BRILLIANT!”
Well.
Our dear Guard had some doubts.
“I...get that you think this is great, but I honestly am wondering if you hit your head on your way to town.”
It was like watching a ball deflate.
“NO- i- Look, I have a good idea. I just need you to trust me.”
Blinking and blinking, both stared at each other with varying levels for emotions before Brocco huffed.
“Alright, I…trust you. But why am I here exactly?”
Now that the Plan seemed to be getting set in motion, Wizzro was getting cheerier again, poking at the chest before comfortably wrapping his arm around the Vegetable.
“Now, Now, Peppermint. YOU are here to make sure that if the tree falls out of our grasp, we have more of a way to defend against it.”
“....So, I'm the failsafe.”
“Yeah!!!! And I trust you completely as such, my celery stick!”
Brocco couldn't help but raise a brow, yet didn't complain as a simple smile came up behind his metal helmet.
Perhaps, it wouldn't be so bad.
“Dear Nantes. Alright, let's get it started then, where do I have to go?”
With a final chuckle and a thumbs up, Wizzro quietened down, pointing towards a much bigger bush, probably due to his beautiful fluffy hair.
Which would get messed up in the long run-
Urrghhghhhghghgh.
But Brocco wasn't one to doubt Wizzro, crawling into the bush and giving a thumbs up as he got comfortable against the many twigs.
Luckily, his armor protected him for the most part, pulling his cape in the comfortable darkness.
It was nice to wait here, even as he peaked through the bush to see Wizzro hiding more properly near a bush as well.
Close by though, he heard it.
The softest growls and zaps of the Leyline.
Leylines were a dangerous feat in all Kingdoms far and wide, unexplainable and a force of nature that had appeared out of nowhere decades ago.
Nobody knows why they're here.
Nobody knows why they exist or how they exactly work.
Or the…side effects possession could have.
Just thinking about it gave him shudders.
Properly taking a peek, one gloved hand had finally pulled out that golden Staff, glistening with that red ball as it was pointed towards the glowing Leyline.
Everything was calm.
….
Slowly.
The crackling began to happen, rocks getting formed once again as the molecurs moved to Wizzro's design.
Almost instinctively as anyone would, Brocco stuck his head hard in the bush, reaching for his sword just incase.
Despite all these risks, there was a part of him that still stared at Wizzro pointing his staff, even as absolutely nothing seemed to happen, which…
Was weird.
Extremely weird for Lycan fashion.
It took about twenty seconds of slooowwllly closing the leyline that the broccoli pushed his beautiful hair out, brushing through it and pushing the twigs out.
Finally looking towards Wizzro, both seemed to have the same reaction.
Only faintly could he hear nearby mumbling and register a harsher grip on the staff.
“Why isn't it...”
Brocco…didn't want to see Wizzro this confused, no matter what happened.
Quietly, he stomped through the snow, taking his hand only absently off his sword handle and kneeling next to the old M.A.G.E.
“Hey, maybe it's just…taking a break-?”
“I don't think Lycans can take breaks, Lime.”
That sad, mumbled reply was not exactly wrong per say-
Lycans are one of the few creatures you will rarely- if ever - rest, always zooming around, screeching, protecting their leylines or biting something!
Only extremely rare cases show Lycans to be calm, if it is for a quick power nap or because they retracted back into their respective homes.
Taking a break was something of a 10% of a 100.
Nonetheless, Brocco did not want his companion to be this sad due to a failed plan, especially if they have the tools to stop any chaos right now.
A disappointed huff came from the M.A.G.E, holding his precious staff in his hands as the armored hand came to lay on it too.
The face that came from looking back was something Brocco couldn't quite describe, but it was definitely a negative emotion.
“Look, if the Lycan truly isn't here, let's close the leyline for others safety and then get the tree out the safe way.”
No response.
Gently, he nudged Wizzro, putting a proper hand on his shoulder.
“Alright?”
…A silent sigh.
“Alright. But y-”
G R R R R R….
Other thing.
Brocco forgot to mention.
Lycans can't go far from their leyline.
At least ten minutes before it becomes a risk, which depends on the size of the leyline and how much power they have in the current method.
That means.
That if the Lycan didn't truly do anything and rested all day.
Then whatever is letting out flinching breaths is FULLY POWERED UP-
“Oh no.”
If Brocco had been told that today he would be running for his life from a pissed Lycan, then he probably would have almost believed you.
Especially now.
“DUCK-”
SCCC R R E E E E E E E E E E -
Heavy breaths escaped Brocco as he ran alongside Wizzro, the Lycan slamming against trees and screeching bloody murder as the bells were as loud as a gong.
One of their main means of knowing where the Lycan is currently zapping towards, barely stopping when it passed by with a blood curling cry.
They were protective of their leylines.
Which meant they would destroy whoever touched it.
“There should be a cave nearby-! HURRY ON!”
Wizzro yelled as he grabbed Brocco's hand, jumping over several logs as the Lycan cracked several trees and broke many bells.
Slamming with reckless abandon, changing forms into that star-like being to speed up towards them.
It had no care for nature, for it wasn't natural.
It wasn't supposed to exist.
…
Maybe it was.
But no matter, Brocco and Qizzro ran and ran and ran and ran and RAN-
BANG!
-JUST reaching the cave in time for the Lycan to scramble and hit its head in there, flinging and stumbling and falling on its chin as the two old men fell onto the ground.
Staring.
Staring at the thing flickering and constantly moving, flinching and tilting its head to the side with an indescribable emotion.
For a moment, it was as if it was considering entering the cave, stepping forward and back through the snow that melted due to the electrical warmth.
Instinctively, Brocco grasped the gloved hand, finding the grip returned as this went on for almost a minute.
Staring back and forth towards the forest.
…Soon.
It huffed.
Quietly, the creature took a small turn, looking back one more time with squinted eyes and swishing its tail around.
Back to the Leyline.
Its attacked home.
Once the steps started to fade away once more, Brocco finally let his guard down, faintly noticing the absence of that gloved hand.
They were safe now.
Away from danger and hate.
Or well, just away from danger.
“Oh, thank Nantes- Wizzro, are…you…?”
When Brocco finally looked back to check on his friend, he was sitting with his knees tightly against his chest against the cave wall, looking away from the entrance.
There was a sense of familiarity in the sight that he couldn't quite explain.
Citizens did that when…they were scared. Or sad. Or angry?
Might as well check. That's what a friend does.
“...Wiz?”
Brocco silently approached Wizzro, settling down with a few clanking sounds from his armor and taking off his helmet.
Propping up his hair right after, he couldn't help but gently wrap his cap around the sad M.A.G.E’s shoulder.
…For a small while, neither of them spoke, the silence filling the area with the smallest sense of uncomfortable comfortableness.
It's like when you lay in bed for too long and now your waist hurts, but you really like your bed.
The longer this went on for, the more Brocco noticed how cold the caves were and how many bells the Lycan really shattered outside.
Bits and pieces for broken bells laid in the snow, soon to be buried by more snow, forgotten and never repaired.
Quite the tragic sight.
“...This was stupid.’
“Hm?”
At the small mumble, he turned his head to the source of the noise.
“I- Don't even make a comment, I get it! I shouldn't have done it.”
Blinking silently, Brocco held into the context and sighed.
“Wiz, it wasn't a bad idea-”
“OF COURSE IT WAS A BAD IDEA!”
It was almost impossible to restrain a flinch at the rare raise in volume in Wizzro's voice, slamming his fits down in the stone.
“I could have- Which sane person thinks of trying to aggravate a Lycan just to get a TREE??”
Karoto, Brocco wanted to start the mental list off but decided to keep quiet and keep listening instead of making a comment.
It wouldn't fit.
“It's just- I wanted to have a good story. I didn't want to use all magic again cause magic is dumb! Overused!”
The quietest sigh escaped the M.A.G.E as his hand landed back on his knees.
"Too…Too easy.”
Brocco was fairly aware of the fact that Wizzro's half-magic based inventions weren't always his favorite.
Magic was a common concept around the kingdoms, as common as making it yourself was.
But mixing the two together? It was something that happened rarely, something only Wizzro reintroduced to the community.
…Back then, it wasn't well received.
And in a way, it was easy to understand the problem here.
“I…just…wanted it to be special. Better than just doing it the boring way.”
The boring way.
Using his staff, huh?
…Something told him that the source of the problem was deeper, but knew prying wouldn't do him the best of jobs at the current mood.
But might as well ask once.
“...You sure it ain't also something else?”
Silence.
Neither replied, staring into the darker parts of the cave for a moment.
It started to snow just a bit more outside, covering whatever bell pieces there were.
“Wizzro, you just wanted to have fun. For example- How many times did Nabiu accidently get an animal to get aggravated?”
“Oh, too many times, but-”
Almost instinctively, Brocco put a finger to Wizzro's beard, receiving a silent side-eye from the action.
Whatever it takes to make his point.
“Ah-ah. No buts. Let me finish.”
Despite the small huff, Wizzro listened.
Which was all he wanted.
For he had an idea that might not completely work, but might help get said point across.
Relaxing back, propping himself properly against the wall and tugging the cape more over each other due to the cold weather-
He finally started to tell a story.
“...You know, there was once a time in the castle where the guards got the annual giant Christmas tree in town.”
A gasp came out of the old man's throat, finally getting his attention properly.
“Wait. YOU GUYS get it-? I thought the Dark Mage made it-”
Oh PLEASE.
“HAH! No. He only helps with dumb decorations and tells you it's one centimeter off.”
Brocco couldn't restrain a chuckle at the memories of complaints, waving his arms around about the poor workmanship while standing there.
Doing absolutely nothing to help beside lifting the final star on top.
Almost Melancholic Now.
“But to get to the point…One Christmas, it was me and my comrades' turn, meaning we all got our swords and axes and got into the forest.”
A fond memory, even if it was so far away.
Stomping through the snow, hearing his comrades laugh even if he couldn't quite understand what they were talking about.
One threw his coat over him, ruffling his hair and pointing towards all the animals.
Another jumped onto the shoulders of another broccoli and grabbed several of the grown bells off the trees.
Whatever it was back then, it felt comfortable.
Continuing on, he lifted up his finger and made a few motions.
“It was simple! Hit the tree, get the tree, carry it over and plant it in town for Christmas.”
You needed all those broccoli’s to get the tree back to town, especially with the size they worked with.
But the cutting part was such a hassle!
“You see though, I thought that was boring. So I tried something different.”
Like it was thoughtful.
“Didn't want to do cardio?”
“Didn't want to do cardio.”
Even if he may have been a bit lazy back then.
“Okay, Okay- So. I got a few ropes from the trees. Attached my sword to it, made it like a bow contraption that would shoot my sword repeatedly towards the tree!”
Brocco tried his best to motion and show it, moving his hands in erratic patterns to show off the motion, looking back towards Wizzro multiple times.
As someone who kept working on things, he seemed to understand.
“Ah, I once had such a contraption, but…how did you do the repeat?”
Ah, yes.
It was supposed to do that, huh.
With a blank stare, he continued.
“I didn't. It hit the tree on point and my sword got stuck in there, lodged so hard into it that it might as well have cut the tree.”
Wizzro stared at him with an unreadable expression once, just before snorting comically and slumping.
As long as he was happy, he guessed.
“Oh, dear-! Did your comrades get mad?”
Well, kinda.
Nobody yelled at the embarrassing incident, just having been given a light scolding.
They had all instead attempted to get his sword out.
“Ohhhh, they did! But…they still laughed after. The shenanigans that ensued trying to get my sword out didn't work, yet no one blamed me.”
Brocco readjusted himself like he did a hundred times before, his armor a fickle little thing to sit in sometimes.
Comfortable and full of mobility, but still metal after all.
He smiled silently.
“No one was truly mad. It was a good story. And we got the tree anyway, even with some complications.”
In a way, it was almost uncomfortably peaceful and that feeling remained for the next few days of snow.
Brocco had asked multiple times if it was truly okay.
They never said otherwise.
Brocco quietly looked over as well, finding the M.A.G.E's gaze on the stony floor of the cave, protected from the cold snow outside.
Contemplating things.
“It doesn't have to always work, Wizzro.”
You don't need to be perfect, never fell from his lips.
“...I know.”
Do you now?
“It just feels like it sometimes. I just wish it WOULD work every time, just to- to satisfy something, I don't know. “
Silence once more.
For what was there to truly say?
Sure, Brocco could say a hundred words and comfort Wizzro through it, but not everyone always wants to be told everything's okay and it’ll all go away.
Sometimes, you just want to have some time for yourself and figure it all out later.
Especially on a day like this.
….
The Guard wasn't the best with words at times.
So, he spoke more casually this time.
“Wanna get a tree from that grape thing?”
“Grabley actually. They have a name.”
Wizzro corrected naturally.
….
The old M.A.G.E answered anyway.
“....Yes. Yes, we can do that.”

“And you don't want any money????”
The Grape shook their head, writing in their little diary…journal…word book?
Brocco honestly thought that this would be harder for the reputation that this garden had been getting from around the kingdom.
One of the most unique Gardens in the entire region, sprouting every kind of fruit, tree, bush- all plants you can imagine!
Seriously, he saw a Chocolate tree on the way to the owner of the Garden.
Speaking of them-
‘You deserve it.’
They wrote with an old pen, for the Grape never spoke a word, constantly looking at him with those many eyes.
The Grape- Grabley, as Wizzro corrected them - was the one single person always here, dressed rather hazardously like they found their clothes in the trash.
They wore a worn-out, buttoned up purple coat- shirt? Whatever it was called, it had ripped sleeves, underneath something that had long sleeves but were long ripped too.
A skirt adorned their lower part, painted in a supposing pink color with wavey-golden yellow at the end. He couldn't see the pants, but they did wear brown worker boots.
Everything was completely and utterly dirtied, most colors had the life sucked out of them beyond anything. Their twigs ripped out of parts of the clothing.
Well, they also had branches and twigs and roots or whatever for arms, so who was he to judge?
They could literally be wearing this everyday, including their brown hand saddle where they usually kept the book.
But to the important things-
“Well, I just…don't you need money? Don't you eat? Drink?”
Usually, Wizzro would handle these kinds of questions, but the banana-colored human was off to calm down and think near beautiful flowers.
Ever-so nice, just like him.
Yet the thought was still on the subjective, something nagging at him at the thought of not helping this one citizen-
Do they consider themselves a citizen?
Again, they shook their hand and flipped through the pages, pointing at certain words.
‘It's alright.’
‘I don't need it.’
‘Take the Tree.”
Truly, it was an honor.
Some people weren't even allowed to enter the Garden! Well. Few people, But it all depended on this one fruit.
And honestly, he didn't want to go back to the forest or deny such thing just to pay a hundred dollars for a tree-
No matter, he couldn't force them to accept payment now, could he?
Perhaps, kindness was to be accepted once in a while.
So, with a resting nod….
Brocco nodded and waved them off.
“Thank you-! And Merry Christmas!”
No word came from the Grape beside a sweet wave.

[LOADING WIZZRO'S HOUSE] . . .
[Tip: I don't have a tip for you today. Simply enjoy Christmas everyone!!]

Wizzro had lots of fun watching the Interns setting up the Christmas tree, laughing and messing up yet still persisting.
The room was full of people chattering, drinking and eating as the Christmas party was in full motion, full of light due to all the decorations.
He couldn't really believe that all the people he invited came.
Looking around, he spotted a few specific instances.
A leek crying as a flour bag handed him a gift, trying very hard to comfort the poor guy.
A Lemon bat and a colorful Mushroom seemed to have a talking session, even if the bat was quite nervous.
There were actually a few humans and butterfly people on the side, seeming to eye the party almost.
A few Nuts here and there, one bear glass and a gremlin-
Sure a lot of people that Karoto and Nabiu started to get to know.
Speaking of Nabiu, she strutted towards the couch where Wizzro sat, holding a glass of apple juice and looking as happy as always.
“The Party is going great!!!!”
“I noted, my dear Girl. Say, where's Karoto?”
“He's fighting people under the Mistletoe! He called it Mistlefoe. I think he ‘accidently’ punched Cyrus earlier-”
Wizzro couldn't help the side-eye.
“BUT HE APOLOGISED-!!!”
Silently snorting, he went to pat Nabiu’s head, almost feeling the naturality in all the chaos of this world.
Something would always happen, but it wouldn't have to be bad now, would it?
That's just how it all worked. Where they all worked together at, where everything was as insane as it could be…
Yet Comfortable.
Warm despite it all.
It was all Wizzro ever wanted and the sight of Nabiu casually sipping apple juice while swaying her feet was a sweet sight.
A sign that they can all exist in peace, without any sort of fight or argument.
Truly a beauty to behold.
“Ah! Lemon, there you are-”
And that voice only made him happier, turning around to see his beloved broccoli out of the armor and with a Christmas sweater on instead.
Holding eggnog and sipping it from time to time as he picked up Nabiu, settled down on the couch and put her in his lap.
“Hello to you too, Nabiu.”
“Hai!!!”
She snickered and chuckled, clearly enjoying It all, pulling out her echo rod to help from afar with the Christmas tree.
Though, Brocco had the attention on him, tilting his head and putting his arm on the couch.
“Sooo, feeling better?”
“Of course. You're a wonderful comforter when needed!”
“Please, I just told a story-! But as long as it helps you. I think it's fine.”
With no real words shared on the matter, the old vegetable gave him a bit of the eggnog, letting him sip on it.
“I'm luckily off for the next few days-! The other guards who don't like Christmas or have other reasons to be on the job are covering for me.”
“Amazing, Amazing. Are you gonna try and cook again?”
Both stared, just before snorting and snickering.
“Absolutely not, Wiz. Don't get me near a stove unless you give me a recipe.”
It was a happy little time filled with warmth as the snow came heavily outside, the cold nothing compared to the companionship of everyone.
Even if not everyone liked each other, even if not everyone knew each other well-
They were still there. Chatting and filling the room with happiness and delight on such a happy day.
Where every species and Person could talk and joke like it was as natural as breathing, sharing presents, food and shenanigans.
For today was Christmas.
The holiday of family and love.
And Wizzro wouldn't have it any other way.

I wish I could join them.
I wish I could hold their hands and laugh.
I hate this.
I want to go home.
I'm sorry.
