Chapter Text
He still didn’t know how, but somehow, he had managed to get Ilay drunk.
Or not, calling him drunk was a lie.
His boyfriend was wasted.
With great difficulty, he had carried Ilay to bed on his back, and now, they were lying on it, Ilay on top of Taeui with his head buried in Taeui’s chest. His arms tightly clutched the brunet’s waist, hugging him while Taeui was running his fingers through the silver hair, looking at the ceiling.
Taeui raised his head slightly when he heard the other man mumble something against is chest.
‘‘What was that ?’’
Ilay might have repeated himself, but since he hadn’t moved at all, nothing could be heard clearly.
Taeui snorted, and using his hand, the one that was previously petting Ilay, he grabbed the other’s chin and lifted it so that they were facing each other.
‘‘Why did you stop ?’’, Ilay slurred, pouting.
‘‘Stop what ?’’
‘‘Your hand.’’
Taeui chuckled as he went back to petting his boyfriend, as demanded. ‘‘What were you saying ?’’
Ilay only shot him a confused look.
‘‘You just said something, I couldn’t catch it.’’
‘‘Oh.’’
He didn’t say anything more, just another proof of how out of it he was. How cute.
‘‘So ? What was it ?’’
He blinked, still looking adorably confused, before he seemed to understand, suddenly becoming very serious. ‘‘Would you love me if I was a worm ?’’
Welp, there he went. ‘‘No.’’
Ilay’s face fell. ‘‘You were supposed to say yes.’’, he murmured in an awfully small voice for such a big man.
‘‘I’m not a zoophile and I wouldn’t have ever fallen in love with a worm.’’
That made Ilay blink again, his eyes focusing on the pillow next to Taeui’s head. ‘‘Then what if I suddenly became a worm ?’’
‘‘Hmmm, then yes, I would. And I’d help you find a way to transform back.’’
His answer seemed to satisfy Ilay as he let his face fall back onto Taeui’s chest, his ear near Taeui’s heart.
‘‘And what if I was 13 years old ?’’
Taeui let his head fall back on the pillow. ‘‘Same answer. I would help you transform back, but I wouldn’t accept any act more intimate than a hug or kiss on the cheek in the meantime. And if we had met in such a situation, I wouldn’t have been interested at all.’’
‘‘Then I would have needed to find a way to mark you so no-one could have you for five years…’’, Ilay mumbled.
‘‘Sorry ?’’
But no answer came.
Instead, another ridiculous question came. ‘‘If I exchanged bodies with one of your exes and you had to sleep with one of us for everything to go back to normal, who would you sleep with ?’’
That bastard was awfully clear and coherent for someone drunk.
‘‘Where do you even find these questions ?’’
Ilay squeezed his waist in response. ‘‘Answer.’’
He sighed, taking a few seconds to himself.
‘‘I…would sleep with you ? I guess. No matter the body you’re in.’’ He breathed out. ‘‘It would definitely be weird maybe I could wear a blindfold ? But even then I doubt I would be as attracted as usual since it wouldn’t be the body I’m used to nor the voice.’’
Silence.
‘‘Yeah, I’d choose you.’’, he muttered.
The room stayed silent, nothing indicating that Ilay had heard him at all.
‘‘Are you asleep ?’’, he whispered, trying not to wake his lover, in case he was, in fact, sleeping.
‘‘How long would you wait for me if I disappeared ?’’
He didn’t know what face Ilay was making but his voice was really small.
‘‘I wouldn’t ever stop looking for you.’’
Ilay exhaled in something that sounded way too much like relief for Taeui’s liking.
‘‘But just so we’re clear.’’, he said loudly, abruptly sitting up. ‘‘That doesn’t mean you’re allowed to disappear on me, okay ?’’, he stated, his hands cupping Ilay’s face as he looked him straight in the eyes.
Ilay’s surprised look quickly gave way for a beautiful smile to appear on his face as he leaned up to kiss Taeui.
‘‘I won’t.’’, he whispered against his lips.
‘‘Good.’’
The next morning, Taeui woke up to an empty apartment.
Confused and slightly worried considering the conversation they had had just the day before, he called Ilay.
After two rings, Ilay picked up.
‘‘Did you sleep well ?’’
‘‘I did, but where are you ?’’
The other chuckled. ‘‘Worried ? I’ll be back soon.’’
Soon apparently meant a minute and a half later.
When Ilay entered he held exactly two flowers.
‘‘Why did you buy those ?’’
‘‘I thought you liked flowers.’’
‘‘No offense, but people usually buy a bouquet, not two flowers.’’
Ilay hummed. ‘‘Do you remember the bouquet you offered me on our second date ? One of the flowers you offered me was wisteria. With some research I learnt that it can mean devotion and enduring love.’’ He took out a vase and began filling it with water. ‘‘I do agree that it suits me.’’
‘‘I didn’t expect you’d remember that.’’, Taeui mumbled, blushing.
After having put the two flowers in the vase, Ilay turned to him, snatching him by the waist as he cupped his face. ‘‘I remember everything.’’
Taeui felt his face grow warmer and tried to change the subject. ‘‘And what about the other one ?’’
‘‘I found a flower that fits you. I would have hoped to find one that is entirely yellow, but the meaning of this one couldn’t have been more perfect.’’
‘‘That is ?’’
‘‘Yellow primroses symbolize happiness, warmth and love.’’
Okay, that most definitely didn’t help with how hot his face felt.
‘‘And what was your goal when you bought these ?’’
‘‘You were worried about me disappearing weren’t you ?’’
Taeui nodded.
‘‘I promise that I’ll always be back soon enough to buy new flowers when the primrose has withered.’’
Taeui looked up. ‘‘Why the primrose ?’’
‘‘Because I’ll always come back as long as you’re waiting for me. But if you disappear the I’ll follow you to the depths of hell.’’
The brunet smacked his chest. ‘‘No need to be this dramatic.’’
‘‘Is that what you think ?’’
As he searched the taller man’s face for clues, he realized. ‘‘You’re serious.’’, he whispered, horrified.
The only answer he got was a bright smile from his probably-unhinged boyfriend.
