Work Text:

again, another holiday with no riki. it was sad for sunoo, only sad for him.

sunoo loved him for years and years beyond, since 2nd grade actually. but being popular and being friends with a popular boy whose arch nemesis was the love of your life was hard.

sunoo hated seeing sunghoon trash talk riki, he hated it. sunoo tried to forget his young 8 year old face, chopped up bangs and scars on his face from whatever he did the day before.

he couldn’t forget. he doesn’t want to forget. but he had to. he has no choice.

no one can’t forget their first love even if they swore they did. sunoo now’s riki looks as better as he did years before.

-

riki lay again, suspended once again. he didn’t care, he never cared. that’s why he did the things he did.

riki felt as if he didn’t deserve to get suspended. his behavior was just as normal as a fork in a kitchen.

he wasn’t mean and unapproachable. the peoples of the school were just to annoying for his liking.

but he thinks they deserve it. they treat him like a six-legged human, monster thingy and he didn’t like it at all.

-
flashback
-

riki sat at the far back of the class, bag over his face as he stumbled into what felt like a chair for a mouse.

the class was already full and that made him even more embarrassed.

“why’d you got that brown bag over your head?” sunghoon questioned him, snicker slipping out at the end.

riki ignored him. that boy didn’t need to know what he did to himself. nobody does.

riki clutched the metal angel in his lap harder. this was the only thing that he felt alive for.

“everyone give your homemade gifts!” the teacher shouted across the class. riki stepped back, hiding himself behind the rack full of jackets from his fellow classmates.

he stayed put till the pitter-patter of little girl heels and boys dress shoes slowed down.

“did everyone give a gift?” the teacher spoke once again.

riki decided to speak up, “i didn’t.” he stated. the class fell silent at the random voice.

“you?” the teacher sounded confused, riki giggled.

“your present kim sunoo.” riki said as softly as he could.

he sat in the chair. “can take the bag of your head, riki?” the teacher asked softly. riki stood his book up right in front of his face, slowly taking the bag off his head.

“put the book down.” the teacher assured. riki obeyed, pushing the book down, fast enough to put his hands onto of his head.

“take your hands off your head.” riki sigh, sliding his small hands off to reveal his choppy hair cut.

sunghoon opened his mouth, but riki quickly tuned him out.

“who cut your hair, a butcher?” the class laughed, even the teacher tried to hold it in. it hurt, really hurt. he could never get respect.

so, instead. he’ll show them.

riki growled, lifting the untaken present and throwing it to the ground, revolving in it smashing.

little gems went flying across the floor. riki stood and pushed the desk with all his tiny strength.

everyone gasped and ran quickly out the class. children started crying for their mother to, even.

“i hate you all!” riki yelled, looking back and forth the dashing to the entrance. not after sparing one more look at the love of his life.

sunoo crotched down towards the broken angel, tears spilling from his doe eyes. he couldn’t believe this happened, he never thought this would happen.

all the little boy could do was look at the mini figure running out the classroom.

-

riki jut awake from sleep. another harassing memory he wanted to put aside for the life of him.

he hated everyone. no matter how much love and gift you give, it won’t break his hatred towards people.

he knew his own hatred towards the schools he’s been to caused him to been hated by them all as well.

it’s not his fault everyone was always so loud and noisy and chaotic. even his own ‘parents’ had to force things into his hands when he didn’t want anything.

he didn’t like gifts and rarely got anything new because he didn’t care. he saw gift-giving like affection and he simply couldn’t stand affection.

he’s just happy to be out of school for a week before return, even if his ‘parents give him hell about it.

-

it was a week before Christmas and the school was hosting a gift-giving event. there were going to be snacks and music.

sunoo originally wanted to ditch and stay because of all the ptsd the situation brung him. but.. of course his friends and sunghoon dragged him along with they’re usual ‘it’s going to be lots of fun’.

sunoo heard riki was supposed to be there and made sure to look his best. he went christmas theme with everything and was hoping he’ll stand out the most in the crowd of students.

and of course, his most important accessory was the gem hair clip he made in years ago — using riki’s broken present of course.

now all he had to do was wait for the tall teen to show up, give his gift, and confess his love towards him.

-

“of course i don’t want to go! you know exactly how i feel about this whole ‘giving’ shit. it’s a pain in the ass to deal with.” riki yelled at his ‘father’.

he was currently being force to go to an event that was basically his most trauma in the present.

he would’ve been fine with a school dance! but no, now they want to force him to some nightmare because it’s ’bonding time’.

bonding with who? strangers? that was the dumbest excuse he’s ever heard anybody say to him. it would’ve worked better with a family event.

“riki.” his other ‘father’ stepped in. they weren’t event his real parents. sometimes he want to remind them.

“no. you guys are forcing to go somewhere where i’ll probably kill myself.” his parents gasped.

“young mister, you go to your room, pick out some nice cloths with the little shit you have, and get in the car!”

riki rolled his eyes and walked off.

-

riki walked off to the two giant doors of the school. he didn’t want to be here. he swore he wasn’t coming home tonight and will be found dead in the gym by the morning.

as riki walked up to the doors, he made a show of flipping both his parents off.

“and who are you?” the desk lady looked riki up and down.

“riki.” it looked like the lady didn’t need anymore clarification who she was dealing with.

“who, mister nishimura! coming to an event like this?” riki rolled his eyes and slammed both hands on the brown, wooden desk.

“just sign me in.” the lady picked up the pen and quickly scribbled the name bride pointing to the decorative doors of the gym.

-

sunoo saw riki a long time ago and couldn’t keep his eyes of him.

he looked so nice in the dress cloths he were wearing. a black tie that matched his pants, a white polo shirt under that matched his sneakers. and he couldn’t forget the dark blue jacket he wore to finish it off.

gosh.. he might wear the same shit every week, but he can sure make something out of it.

sunoo realized he should’ve already hurried and given riki his gift. because knowing that boy, he probably was forced to come and would be trying to leave as early as he can.

as sunoo walked over to the dark haired boy, a hand stopped him in his tracks.

there standing behind him, was sunghoon, vulnerable look on his face to.

“sunoo, have something extremely important to tell you.” sunghoon whispered as light as a bird feather.

“what is it?” sunoo slurred out, keeping his voice steady.

“i.. i’ve been in love with you ever since we meet in 2nd grade. i’ve never seen someone as beautiful and caring as you. i get we’ve had disagreements along our friends. but now, without that nishimura standing in my way. would you finally be mine?”

sunoo was taken aback by the confession. he never saw sunghoon like that. and even if he did, it was sadly because of his looks.

sunghoon was a fine specimen, he really was and nobody could disagree. even sunoo. he was athletic and smart, topping most of his classes.

but his mouth.. oh his mouth is what ruins it for sunoo. he not only can’t stop talking about people, but can sometimes be a big crybaby. and people put it aside, well.. because he’s attractive and popular.

sunoo didn’t wanna date someone for looks, he wanted someone he knew he loved. and that person was now standing up.

there, stood from his seat was riki. disgust visible on his face. sunoo could tell he was holding it all in. and sunoo didn’t want him to let it out.

so he thunk fast.

“sunghoon im so sorry, but i have my love set aside for someone else.” sunoo tilted his head and slightly pouted as he spoke.

“wah..” sunghoon pondered off as he followed sunoo eye sight.

the crowd around him moved as he looked. riki, absolutely clueless as to what sunoo was trying to portray stoo with his soda in his hands.

sunoo walked down like he were a bride walking up the aisle to her groom. riki watched as sunoo walked and walked till he finally reached him.

“for you, handsome.” sunoo held out the tiny box in front of him, inviting riki to take it.

students gasp at his word choice.

riki unraveled the neatly tied bow and let it fall to the ground. he lifted the top of the box and froze.

a bracket. a expensive looking bracelet with a note under.

“for me?” riki asked dumbly. sunoo giggled shyly and smiled.

“want me to put it on?” sunoo offered an riki had not her choice but to say yes.

sunoo took the bracelet into his hand and riki lifted his hand up from his side. “read the little note too.” sunoo stated as he worked the bracelet around riki’s wrist.

‘will you be the moon to sun, riki ♡’ riki read in his head.

riki struggled with his words, “w-what, me?”

sunoo giggled once again and brung both hands up to riki’s face.

“yes you, silly.” sunoo said once more before pressing both their lips together.

riki forgets what he said, this was the best day ever.
