Something must have set Alex off, but instead of it being freezing in the apartment, it was boiling.
It honestly felt like a sauna. Jason had tried talking to Alex to see what was wrong, but they wouldn’t talk. And the temperature was higher closer to Alex.
Jason gave it up to Percy, and hopefully, he could get through to Alex.
“Alex? Want to tell me what's wrong?” Percy asked as he sat beside Alex. He could deal with the sauna-like temperatures; he just wanted to make sure that Alex was ok.
Alex didn’t say anything, just looked at Percy skeptically.
“Look, whatever is going on, you can tell Jason or me, I promise that we won’t be mad,” Percy tried.
Alex looked at him before looking down at their hands and speaking. “I, are you not mad about the temperature?” Was the first thing that Alex said to Percy that day.
Percy smiled, “I don’t think I’ve told you, but those powers you have. You can control water, yes?” Alex nodded to Percy’s question, “Well, I can do the same thing as you, and when I was just about your age, maybe a bit older, I had the same problems. But I learned to control it, and I can help you control it too. I never had any help, but you will,” Percy said.
By the end, Alex looked excited and hugged Percy.
The temperature dropped in the room at the end, and Percy smiled softly at the kid in his arms.
