“It’ll be okay.”, Finn says in a comforting voice while patting Shrimpos back, “Do you want to tell me what happened now..?” Shrimpo stares down at his bleeding knuckles. He wants to say something but no sound comes out. “I understand if you don’t want to talk about it but I just feel like I can’t trust you anymore if you always break your promises..”, Finn gently says, “Try to clean you hands with some tissues, I’ll go grab some bandages from Sprout and Cosmo.” And with that he leaves the room.
Shrimpo scoots over into the corner of the room. He looks down at his bruised, bloody fists. Tears start rolling down his cheeks. He didn’t even know what to feel anymore at this point. How many times had he promised Finn to stop, and how many more times will he? He wouldn’t keep the promises anyway. He deserved it. Why would Finn be so worried about such an asshole like him? Shrimpo sobs into his arms, smudging the ichor from his hands all over his face.
Suddenly Finn pops back into the room. “I got some bandages!” Shrimpo quickly tries to wipe the tears from his face, as if Finn didn’t already see his teary eyes. “Are you mad at me..?”, Shrimpo sniffles. “Of course not! You broke your promise, so what? You can always try again. I’m sure you’ll make it this ti--” “BUT I WON’T! I’LL NEVER STOP. WHY DO YOU EVEN CARE ABOUT ME?! I CAN’T BE FIXED!”, Shrimpo blurts out under his tears, “I’M A USELESS PIECE OF SHIT, FINN. WHEN WILL YOU SEE THAT?” Finn sits down next to Shrimpo. “Why would you think that? You struggle with self control but that’s not your fault.. And think about all the progress you made”, Finn starts wrapping the bandages around Shrimpos hands slowly and steadily, it’s not like he hasn’t done this a million times before, “Do you want me to sleep in your room tonight?”, Finn asks. Shrimpo just scoffs.
“If you’re not in the mood to talk right now, want to go grab something to eat?” “I don’t want anything..”, Shrimpo mumbles unclearly. Finn doesn’t say anything. They sit in silence for a while before he gets up again “I’m starvin’. You can stay here if you want. I’ll be back later to check up on you, okay?” Shrimpo nods. He watches as Finn gets up and leaves the room. Of course he lied when he said that he didn’t want anything. He was really hungry but he didn’t feel like going out of his room and getting stared at by the other toons.
Shrimpo finally decides to get up to lay on his bed instead of the cold floor. His knuckles sting and he feels dizzy. After a few minutes of laying there in regret and staring at the ceiling his eyes start feeling heavy and he starts drifting off.
“Shrimpo..?”, a soft voice wakes Shrimpo up again. It takes him a second to get back to reality and realize Finn is standing right next to his bed. He groans as he sits up “Whaaat doo you wannt..?”, He says slurring his words. “Just checking up on you. I didn’t mean to wake you, sorry!”, Finn says. He’s holding a plastic plate with mashed potates and fish fingers and a cup of water. “I got you some food. You haven’t eaten all day, have you? By the way you slept for quite some time, it’s pretty late already!” Shrimpo grabs the plate and cup and starts eating. “I didn’t realize I was asleep for that long.. You still wanna crash here tonight?”, Shrimpo says while chewing. Finn nods and rushes to his room to grab a sleeping bag. Shrimpo sets his plate down on his bed and throws one of his pillows on the floor for Finn, then he gets back to eating.
Finn comes back and starts setting up his sleeping bag with the pillow Shrimpo gave him, a fluffy blanket he brought and a cat toy in shape of a fish. They chat for a bit before deciding to turn off the light and go to sleep. After a few minutes of laying there in silence, listening to dishes clinking in the kitchen, and some of the handlers talking, Shrimpo whispers: “Can you sleep?” “No.. not really. Wanna cuddle a bit?”, Finn quietly asks. Shrimpo grumbles a bit before mumbling back: “Fine.. get up here.” Finn climbs into Shrimpos bed and gives his boyfrie-- BESTfriend a little smooch on the cheek.
