An Ice Cold Coke

Summary:

Nothing like a dinner date after getting off work early.

Notes:

Work Text:

The sizzling sound of fried chicken hums through the air as the delicious scent wafts into the street. It’s another regular day at Ttosikki Chicken. A couple regulars are enjoying some soju and a basket of chicken but no one else is dining in at the moment. Gerard has taken to the fryer while Teddy brings in more supplies from the freezer.

“How are Sprite and Co doing?”

“Lively nowadays. I’m glad though… They had me worried for a while.”

As the two had gotten accustomed to working together, the conversations had become a lot easier for Teddy. Sometimes, he’d have those moments of doubt where he wondered if the other guys in Big Ben’s crew actually liked him. Teddy had always forged his own path based on his own wants but ever since his defeat at Gray’s hands he’d changed. A lot.

His family had mentioned it to him as well. That was more considerate of others and more easygoing in general. It felt strange to hear those things - he’d been a demon of a kid back in middle school. As the two teens made small talk, the owner popped in with another employee.

“Y’all want to go home early?”

“Hell yeah!” x2

The two boys cheered and quickly went to change out of their work attire. While changing Gerard brought up the idea of grabbing dinner afterwards.

“I’m hungry. Wanna grab a bite at the local Chinese place? I love Ttosikki but chicken gets old everyday.”

“I’m down. The one that’s two streets down right?”

The trek, if it could even be called that, over to the local Chinese eatery was quick and they found themselves seated just as quickly. Gerard ordered beef and broccoli while Teddy opted for some roasted duck. Gerard, the old man that he is, ordered green tea while Teddy asked for a coke. When all the food was ready and spread out before them, the two teen boys dug in like they’ve never eaten before.

“Gerard, there’s no way that green tea tastes good.”

“At least it’s good for me unlike your coke!”

Teddy was taking a sip of his drink when Gerard casually took it from his hand.

“Can’t let you get diabetes, now can I?”

And he cheekily placed his lips right where Teddy had been sipping from. The blond flushed at the sight and turned his head away.

“Asshole.”
