Work Text:

“That's cheating.”

“Is not,” Isa intoned, arms crossed, feet several inches from the ground as he watched Terra fumble at the treeline. “When you invited me to go skating, you should have considered the fact that I've worn the same uniform for ten years, and footwear was included in that.”

Terra stood properly - or as properly as he could, perched on the steel blades of ice skates, holding onto the tree before him. His breath puffed in the cold, and the woodland clearing, he thought, was a perfect date spot. The once-Diviner faintly glowing moonlit blue and warping gravity to keep himself lifted above the ice only added to the atmosphere, his light reflecting off of the frozen pond and dense snow around them. Isa had his arms crossed over his chest and head lightly tilted, space itself obeying him as his shoes floated a solid six inches from the center of the frozen pond. He raised an eyebrow, and Terra would always and forever be at his mercy.

“Alright, alright,” The younger man could only admit defeat to his moon, and only ever would. “I'm a bad boyfriend - I was so excited at the idea of getting you out here that I forgot that you didn't have skates tucked away in a closet somewhere like me and Aqua and Ven do.”

“Well, I'm nothing if not resourceful. You're going to deal with an attitude later on though - microdosing Berserk like this in the middle of the night is going to work up an appetite.”

Terra gave a mirthful scoff as he edged his way to the crisp lining of the pond, slowly, stuntedly, perched precariously on the thin blades, arms outstretched for balance. “Don't promise me with a good time.”

“Never made a promise I haven't kept.” The once-Diviner smoothed closer, unobstructed by snow or friction, and caught one of Terra’s hands. Within moments there was a slow glide, the ease of the keyblade bearer inching off the snow and onto the glossy, reflective mirror that was the forest pond’s immaculate surface. Everything shimmered with the invisible, frosty heat of the Berserker’s patient might, kept mild and fluttering. “There now,” Isa murmured as momentum caused the two of them to sweep in parallel across the ice. Perhaps it was only fitting - Terra, rooted to the earth by steel, Isa, tethered and magnetised to what was around him yet never touching it fully. “Are you going to need my help getting off the ice too?”

“Thinking about the end of the date already? C’mon Isa.”

“A date, is it?”

“It's not not a date.”

Isa just gave a snort, several inches above Terra and effortlessly guiding as Terra skated lightly, letting himself be led.
