Chapter Text

You gently tap the floor with the snowy figure you behold, which with white shoes do you twirl, yet the nature of how you may be is a sight I feel most out of picture with. Lest my heavy mind, for my heart and body was extremely light. It was so light in fact, I couldn't really believe it.

Numbness stained my cheeks, but I couldn't still feel, because it wasn't exactly the culled sensation that directed me. Although, I can say my gaze was played to attention by the form of her in her freest frames. Much similar to a clip, a clip from  a film.

Watching it made me immersed, immersed enough to be emboldened, as it was an unexpected steal of the spotlight. Akin to who had stolen the victory as the Ace back at the Japan Cup, since it was I. Though, didn't we all live under the same sky?

The world we all lived in, no one was any different from another person, or well what I mean is...

People are people, whether Umamusume or not.

Maybe that's why...

"Mind if I dance with you?" A question, if not a offer I extend to the clumsy, yet freestyle dancer. She glances towards me, and seems surprised.

"A invite by you? Well, I guess I'm up for it." Smiling mischievously she does, for it's a lot like her. After I learned more about her, she was someone I had to chase for a while, till two people became part of that pursuit. In the end, I overcame it all, those in the sticks that thought the Twinkle Series was nothing but a world we could never touch; I proved them wrong.

"Bit of a warning, C.B. I'm not all too great a dancer, but I thought why not give it a go anyway?" Warning her casually in a lighthearted manner, as I shrugged without much care, for it was nonchalance that led my demeanor in its steps.

"I'm not new to adventure, then shall we dance?" How those were the words that began our exploration, and the swaying of our bodies that followed. Motion that was similar to running, yet it was a different kind of fun. Not competitive, but for pure fun that was untouched by any other feeling, which was unworldly to me. Blurring by was time, till a announcement was made.

I left like with everyone else, while reflecting on the memories. Like that time I was overlooked, as everyone stared at the star who was above me, meanwhile I was beneath her. Similar to how living things lived underneath the clouds, the sky, and never reaching beyond that.

Running along that riverside, which I trained by myself. All those things, especially when I had overtook all those shining stars that included the Emperor. It was a letter, one that I got a while after that race.

Speechless I was after reading through the contents of some of the letters, as my run that broke past just mere aspirations had saved the lives of some people who found motivation through me. That's why...I'll keep running, and to keep persisting, regardless of whether I lose or win.

Lose...that word comes up first, is it because it's a bit natural for me?

"...Funny." Commenting on that thought mockingly with a faint grin, that's when I notice I walked too far. Somewhere that made me realize I had passed the lake, and...

"Wow. Coincidences sure are miraculous, aren't they?" Night had befallen onto the world, yet it was a pretty darkness filled with stars. It reminded me of myself, like those countless shining worlds, my existence was a shadow to them. One the world didn't care for till I showed my worth.

That's another reason why I'm somewhat glad for future generations, because some are unexpectedly from the same origins as I was. Rising to the top, and winning. However, to prove that country bumpkins can win as well was something I wanted to prove, my own dream had also bore a flag to its significance as I continued to race.

"They sure are." Jolting me with what was at first terror, or just surprise, because I had been snuck on! Although the person who did it was...

"Yo, C.B. can you not do that and give me a heads up?" I exclaim with a frown, but her presence actually warms me somewhat on this snowy night, which freezes the air coldly.

"Haha! Sorry Ace." Using that name for me made my feelings stir crazily, for I felt both a deep sense of melancholy, and a emotion of overwhelming tenderness. Nostalgia is most likely what I would call it, as I was homesick. A sentimentality I afforded, since I loved my hometown quite a lot.

Perhaps that's also alongside the purpose of why I wanted to prove that even someone like me from the sticks could win, yet here I am hanging out with someone unfathomable, a star I should be unable to touch. Like those back home used to say, how they existed in another world.

"Why did you trail after me all the way out here?" Asking, because I was curious, I find her smiling at me rather slyly.

"No reason, though we should head back or else we might get locked out for a while." She laughs it off so lightly that you think it wouldn't be a problem, but so what?

"Jeez, fine let's go." With that, I feel that my heart is at ease. This sensation that hugs me, and embraces me. Full of hope, if not full of love.

Notes:

Hope you enjoyed Katsuragi Ace’s POV! I’m not sure if I got her personality down or not, but I hope I did!
