Work Text:
Peering out the window, a blonde woman sighs. Her plans for the day were destroyed as the snow was more than halfway above the glass of the window pane. While her dark blue haired lover anticipated this, he just told her it would snow. Not that it would completely render them confined to their home.
She turns around, her topaz eyes peering at the blue haired man relaxing on the sofa. A blanket draped over his lap and upper half covered with a warm, yet light sweater. His emerald eyes transfixed on her figure in admiration and affection. As if she were a work of art. His face grows pensive as he processes her conflicted expression. “Lumine, what’s wrong? Is everything ok outside?”
Lumine sighs, walking over and settling down beside him. “We’re snowed in, Venti.”
Venti covers her legs with the same quilt covering his, holding her close. She reciprocates, leaning into his touch and nuzzling into his neck. “Well then, it seems we have no choice but to spend the whole rest of the day together. Just the two of us.” He dramatically sighs.
She giggles a little bit, his clingy nature shining through. “Sounds good to me. And even better to you.” Raising her arm up lazily, she pokes the tip of his nose.
He pouts, looking away and puffing his cheeks. “Is it so wrong to want my dearest warrior all to myself for one day?”
“No.” She flips herself onto her stomach and presses a gentle kiss to his lips. “Not at all my adorable Archon.”
His skillful, slender fingers comb her soft, silky hair. Lulling her into a deep sense of security, one she loved all too much. Nuzzling into his neck, she relaxes into his tender, comforting touch. Rapid, yet gentle kisses pepper her forehead. “My warrior, you’ve worked yourself far too harshly as of late. Take the next few days to rest with me. We’ll take it slow, one thing at a time.”
“Ok then…” She feels her cheeks warm up at the realization that he's right. All month, she’s done non stop commissions and quests for the guild. Despite her intentions being pure, eventually it would catch up to her. Her eyelids feel heavier and heavier as she realizes, he’s using magic on her. The more he strokes her head, the more fatigued she feels.
“Venti…” She mumbles drowsily.
He laughs and strokes her head one final time, a tender smile adorns his face as he gazes at her. “Rest for now, I’ll be here when you wake up my dearest.”
As her body goes limp and her breath slows into a calming rhythm, he moves the blanket to fully cover most of her body. He pulls her ever closer. Humming a lullaby to himself, he slowly cranes his neck to the tray of cookies the two baked the night before, sugar cookies with an apple glaze. He saw the exhaustion weighing over her in her eyes and posture as the pair toiled away. Even her bright smile, which lights up his whole world, was darkened with fatigue.
Her magic induced slumber deepens, unconsciously moving upward to rest her head in the crook of his neck, clinging to him as she does. He wraps his hand around her head, his other one rubbing her back. Glancing over at the clock, which read 5 minutes until sundown, he let drowsiness overcome him slightly. A yawn escaped his lips, eyes half lidded.
The snow continuously piled up more outdoors. A blanket of white everywhere the eye could see. The comforting hue of the lamp provided light that was otherwise obscured by the thick, dark clouds. The crackle of the fireplace gave a backdrop ambiance that was greatly appreciated.
Venti, who had just peppered Lumine's head with kisses, stroked her head. The silky, golden strands of her hair flowing through his fingers. “Even though tomorrow is Christmas Day,” his voice tender and loving, “I have my present right here.”
