Christmas w/ Squidswag as Your CGs

Summary:

I don't have a good relationship with my actual mothers which makes Christmas a really stressful time of year so I wrote a self-insert age regression fic where I have a good Christmas with my fictional caregivers to cope. And now you can insert yourself into a story where you have a good Christmas with Squiddo and Ashswag as you caregivers! X3

~

It's Christmas and you open gifts with your momma (Ash) and mommy (Squiddo)!!

Notes:

If your wondering why Ash is called momma rather than a more male associated parental name it's because I have two mothers so part of the way I heal my inner child is by giving my fictional caregivers the titles that I used to call them.

I'm manifesting that you have a good Christmas, Holiday(s), or a good day/night! ^w^

Work Text:

You wake up in your momma and mommy's warm bed all wrapped up in your favorite blanket (it's quite soft) on Christmas morning. You're snuggled up between the two to escape the cold, comfortably wrapped in their arms and cocooned in their wings. They're both up, quietly bickering about something you're almost certain you've heard them bicker about before. Your caregivers used to be more careful about not play fighting around you, but it's become almost a given to happen at least once a day since you've gotten more accustomed to living here. Skipper's at the foot of the bed with his paws and snout resting on momma's legs, while hitting mommy's legs with his tail. (You're pretty sure momma is Skipper's favorite, even though he's know mommy far longer, but you've decided to keep that little tidbit of info to yourself as you'd hate for it to make your mommy sad.) Since you're still sleepy regardless of the full nights rest that you just awoke from, you try to gently rub away the tiredness from your eyes with your blankie.

You hear your mommy coo slightly at this, which causes you to respond by shifting slightly to see her face better. They don't have their big pink and orange sunglasses on yet, and their hair is extra messy from sleeping. "Good morning!" She's very enthusiastic, and clearly trying to keep her voice down as it is still a bit too early for her normal volume.

Momma's hand slips into your hair effortlessly as he chuckles. "That was the perfect distraction to help me win, thank you." He jokes with a smirk.

You only giggle in response.

"What!? That is not what just happened!" Mommy acts offended by this, but it's hard for you to believe when they can't stop grinning.

The silly little quarrel between the two continues, but you just focus on the pets that momma's giving you and playing with mommy's hand, which she doesn't seem to acknowledge is happening other than the occasional glance. Your sleepyness starts to wear off, and you're suddenly very excited, because it's Christmas morning for crying out loud! "When are we opening gifts?"

Momma laughs, "At noon, just like we always do." With such fondness being present in his voice, you can practically hear that he's affectionately rolling his eyes at the question.

"It's, like, 9:30 right now, so that's in about... 2 and a half hours?" Mommy seems to have predicted what your next question was going to be, but sadly, you're not super thrilled with their answer.

You feel your momma shift away slightly, and you hear him grab his communicator from his bedside table. "Shit! It is like 9:30. We've gotta get you fed."

Your mommy lets out a playfully exasperated sigh. "Language." She 'reprimands' in a flat and almost robotic voice.

"Oh, sorry." It's said pretty casually, and you're not completely sure if he's apologizing to you or mommy, but what you are sure of is that he's starting to get out of bed, much to your dismay. (You were quite enjoying cuddle time!)

You immediately rush to snuggle into your mommy's arms and wings at the loss of your momma's warmth.

Skipper also seems displeased by this as he whines before getting up to curl up on the bed where momma had just been laying down.

Mommy laughs softly. "Would someone like to be carried out to the kitchen?"

"Yes, please!" You nod quickly before letting go of your mommy so that they can get out of bed to pick you up properly. Then you proceed to wrap your blanket tightly around your shoulders in attempt to protect yourself from the cold.

Your momma chimes in lightheartedly, "Gosh, you coddle them."

Mommy makes quick work of getting out of bed and picking you up. "Oh, yes I do! I just coddle you all the time, don't I?" She bounces you slightly in her arms while using her baby voice. You feel your mommy drape their wings around you before the three of you are headed off to the kitchen.

You register that mommy and momma are talking, but you aren't quite able to make out most of the words. It seems to be happy chatter though; you hear them occasionally laugh or giggle. Your mommy is resting you on her hip as she leans backward on one of the kitchen counters, while your momma is getting down bowls from one of the cabinets for the three of you to have cereal in.

Finally, you decide to perk your ears up in case you are given any instructions or asked any questions. When you do you hear, "Cereal? On such a festive day?" Mommy is asking with a voice that's filled with such playfulness and they're using such exaggerated facial expressions that you're certain that there's no actual concern or displeasure behind their words.

Momma only glances at her while barely concealing a smile before he reaches for the box of cereal. "I mean, if you'd like to cook this early, go for it." Already knowing your mommy's answer, he fills all three of your bowls and gets the milk out of the fridge.

Your momma hands mommy one of the bowls of cereal (which prompts them to thank him) and grabs the other two so that the three of you can sit at the dining room table together. Mommy sets you down in the chair you usually sit in (well, it's the chair you sit in when you do sit in the dining room, which isn't all too often) and pulls out the chair to your right and sets her bowl in front of it. Momma sets a bowl of cereal in front of you before going to sit across from where mommy is going to sit after feeding Skipper. (The chair across from you stays empty as it is typically used for guests; other than your mommy and momma's occasionally switching of their seats, this tends to be how it goes when you sit at the table.)

"Skiiippeeer!" Mommy yells in a loving voice as they open a can of dog food for him. When there's no sight of him after putting the food in the bowl, filling up his water bowl, and putting both bowls in their place, she rolls her eyes and goes to get him from the bedroom. This doesn't worry you by any means, because you know that even if they're actually annoyed that they'll still wake up Skipper with gentle pets and a babying voice, and that they'll lead him to the kitchen by patting their knees and trying to convince him to follow them, just like they always do.

"Do you need help?" Your momma asks vaguely gesturing to your bowl of cereal with his spoon.

You shake your head — you feel big enough!

"Okay." Momma continues eating his cereal and you follow suit.

Eventually, (while you and momma are finishing up eating) mommy and Skipper come from down the hall. Skipper is running in front of her, but turns around to make sure she's following, before waiting for her to catch up, and then running again. This time he runs until he reaches his food and water bowls. He laps up some of his water before eating some of his food. Your mommy is smiling as she goes to take her seat next to you. Their cereal is probably getting soggy by now, but they don't comment on it or give off any signs of discontent so it seems fine.

Once there's about half an hour until you're going to open presents, momma throws a can of cinnamon rolls onto a pan and into the oven for lunch. You are getting so excited that you can't sit still, because you get to open gifts in like 30 minutes and your momma is making cinnamon rolls. 30 minuets is such a long time to wait, but it's so close when compared to all the time you've already waited and cinnamon rolls are always delightful!

As you have already been fed lunch you are watching the clock quietly with anticipation. 11:57.... 11:58.... 11:59.... "It's twelve! Mommy, Momma, it's twelve!" You exclaim as you run into your caregivers' room eagerly.

Your mommy spares you a glance while smiling before she goes back to quickly typing something on her communicator. "Just a sec! I'll be right out, kiddo."

"I'm coming, go on." Momma also has a smile on his lips and he's already getting out of bed to follow you into the family room. You dash into said room and quickly sit on the couch to wait. Momma sits next you on the left end of the couch, and it doesn't take very long before mommy enters the family room. For the second time today, your mommy sits on your right, but this time they bring their legs up to sit criss-cross applesauce. "Would you like to help pass out presents?" Your momma asks pointing to the pile of gifts under the Christmas tree.

You nod enthusiastically, then getting up and starting to pass out your mommy and momma their presents (which is easy because they're color coded orange and purple accordingly) while setting yours in the middle of the floor (it'll make cleaning up after easier if you open them there as it gets a bit messy). You leave Skipper's gifts (which are wrapped in red) under the tree as you'll open them with him later in the day while your mommy or momma supervises, which you think is totally unnecessary because you would never give Skipper an extra treat!... Okay, that one time that they caught you doing that was definitely the only time it's ever happened!

Once everyone other than Skipper has their presents, mommy asks "Everyone ready?"

Since there was no reaction to make any of you think otherwise, you all assume everyone's ready, and you start opening one of your gifts as you hear your mommy and momma doing the same. Because both mommy and momma love pink that's the color of your wrapping paper. (They also both love red and that's why it's Skipper's wrapping paper color.) You see that the one that you're currently opening is from your momma. A black cat made out of a soft fabric with bright purple button eyes and cute little whiskers stares back at you after tearing away the pink paper. Momma doesn't often sew unless it's to mend clothes, but it's adorable and wonderful and you're so grateful for it!!

You set the cat plush down in your lap before opening a present from your mommy. It's a notebook with a painted cover. She painted the sunrise that you and her had watched while at the docs of a pond with peculiarly colored algae and kinds of fish you'd never seen before on the front. (The sun was coming up in a haze of yellows, oranges, and pinks as it faded into purples and blues. The doc was in the center of the page, the sunrise was reflecting in the water. Though you couldn't see any fish, the oddly colored algae was dotted amongst the ripples in the water.) The back is painted with the sunset that they watched with you on your first camping trip. (The sun is setting behind the tall pine trees; yellows and oranges fade below purples, and blues in the background. Off to the left side, in the window of mommy's red van, you can see Skipper's shadow as the interior behind him is painted yellow to signify light. The campfire where you roasted marsh mellows is at the center of the painting, and there are some bushes to keep the right side from looking too empty.) Seeing as you love mommy's art and going on adventures with her, this is an amazing gift and your so, so thankful for it!

Then, you open the one's that are from both mommy and momma. One has a bunch of socks (you get new socks every year), another has a couple of sweaters (they're handmade and have very nice textures), and the last one has gloves designed for cold weather (you were starting to outgrow your old ones).

You'll get more gifts tomorrow since people are coming over for Christmas dinner. Oh, Christmas dinner always takes place on the day after Christmas, but what house it takes place at changes each year, and this year it's going to be at your house. This means that a bunch of mommy and momma's server mates and even a couple from off-server friends will come and have dinner and give out presents! (Sometimes the guests even bring extra deserts!!)

As time has past since gift opening, your mommy and momma have started taking turns looking after you and cooking certain things in advanced for Christmas dinner; you'd played with momma while mommy was cooking and opened Skipper's presents with him under mommy's supervision while momma was cooking. After that, the rest of the night is spent cozied up on the couch between your mommy and momma as they yap to each other while skipper lays in his newly gifted bed nearby. That is until you fall asleep peacefully surrounded your family and feeling loved.
