Work Text:
Gyubin looks beautiful when she doesn’t know Ricky’s watching.
She’s always aware whenever someone’s eyes are on her. Ricky has no idea how, but Gyubin has a weird talent for noticing that kind of thing. It makes it harder for her to yearn from afar because Gyubin always forces Ricky to look at her with a smile when she makes a funny face.
That’s why Ricky’s familiar with dragging her eyes along Gyubin’s sleeping form, taking in the sight of her girlfriend when she can’t look back.
Gyubin’s someone who always pretends like she’s at peace, but Ricky knows better than anyone just how restless she can get. Gyubin’s mind is one that never stops once it starts running, and it seems like she can only rest when she’s completely asleep.
Maybe in any other circumstance Ricky would feel like a freak, but she’s used to it by now. She’s been waking up before Gyubin for months just to watch her sleep before she needs to get up for her day. Luckily on the weekends, Ricky can watch her all she wants.
Until Gyubin wakes up, at least. Then Ricky’s back to ignoring her and making her work for it. It’s always more fun that way, because Gyubin’s gorgeous even when she’s pouting.
She’ll always ask Ricky what she’s looking at, and Ricky has to fight herself from flirting. They can’t spend every single second of every single day making out, even if it’s what both of them want.
And these days, Ricky hasn’t really been in the mood for that, anyway. She’s been lost in thought, thinking about too many things to be looking at Gyubin. Except, most of her thoughts are about Gyubin, so she finds herself glancing over at her by accident.
It gets awkward when Gyubin catches her then, because Ricky doesn’t know how to lie to her when Gyubin asks her what she’s thinking about.
“What’s got you so quiet?” Gyubin asks, unaware of the Pandora's box she’s about to open. “What are you thinking about, kitty?”
Ricky’s honest even when she shouldn’t be, at least towards Gyubin. They both haven’t really ever been able to keep secrets. In spite of that, there’s something that Gyubin’s never brought up and something Ricky’s been ignoring. Something that’s been slowly eating away at her since November ended and December began.
“When are you going to let me meet your family?”
It’s a question that has lingered in the forefront of Ricky’s mind for the last year or so, but has gotten larger inside her mind the longer the year went on. It’s a thought that she hasn’t been able to escape from, despite trying to.
She never imagined she would find herself caring so much about something like that. Granted, she never imagined she was going to fall in love as fast as she did with Gyubin, but that’s a whole other story.
In the past, her relationships stayed pretty casual no matter how long they lasted. Yet, Gyubin and Ricky’s anniversary passed a month or two ago. They’ve been together for two years, and Ricky’s never met anyone from Gyubin’s family. She doesn’t even know any of their names.
She tries to not let it bother her, but she fails. It bothers her more than anything. She has no idea how Gyubin’s been able to keep it from her, but it’s honestly her fault for never asking.
Except Ricky’s tried asking before, skirting around the curiosity she has by mentioning it in a one-off comment. Gyubin always shrugs it off, like she does now. Like it’s not important and Ricky’s worked up over nothing. That Ricky shouldn’t care about something like that.
“You know how they are,” Gyubin chuckles, nonchalant and airy. “My parents are busy people. And my siblings—they’re all involved with school. I don’t think they’d want me crashing their Christmas plans.”
It’s ironic, because Ricky doesn’t know how they are. She barely knows anything about them. All she knows is that Gyubin has a few siblings, but even that’s barely anything.
“Too busy to meet their daughter's girlfriend?” Ricky crosses her arms.
Gyubin seems to flinch, shifting her body away. They’re standing in the middle of the kitchen. Gyubin’s in the middle of making dinner, and Ricky was about to set the table before Gyubin caught her looking.
“Ricky, it’s not like we have the time right now to go all the way to Seoul.”
“You make it sound like it’s far away,” Ricky scoffs. “It’s only a flight. A few hours, at most.”
They’ve been living in Ricky’s apartment in Shanghai for the last few months. Gyubin got a job in the city, and Ricky’s always wanted to move back home to be closer to her mother.
It’s funny how Gyubin knows everything about Ricky and her family. Ricky’s mother is basically in love with Gyubin, loving her like she was her own daughter. Meanwhile, Gyubin’s parents probably don’t even know Ricky exists. It’s hard not to be upset by something like that.
“Still, we’d have to plan a whole trip.” Gyubin rubs the back of her neck. “With Christmas coming up, the airports will be swarmed. I just don’t think it’s that practical, especially this late.”
“It’s not practical to go home to your family? To introduce the woman you’ve been dating for the last two years?”
Gyubin sighs, shaking her head. “Baby, that’s not what I meant.”
Ricky doesn’t want to turn this into an emotional argument, but it’s hard to control how she feels sometimes. It’s hard to stop the overflowing passion that bleeds out from every inch of her body that Gyubin’s touched.
She just doesn’t understand how Gyubin seemingly doesn’t care. Gyubin’s always talking about the family she wants someday, about all the kids she wants to raise and the family she wants to grow with Ricky. Despite that, Gyubin’s actual family is a complete mystery.
Ricky can’t help but think the worst.
“Why do you keep coming up with excuses?” Ricky hates how she sounds so childish, but she can’t help it. “Are you embarrassed of me?”
“What? No! Of course not,” Gyubin immediately turns around and walks over to her. “It’s—it’s really not like that. The opposite, honestly…”
Ricky looks up at her, frowning. “What do you mean?”
“I just really don’t want to talk about this,” Gyubin says, which immediately puts Ricky on edge.
Gyubin’s never said that before. She’s never not wanted to talk to Ricky about something. If anything, there has never been a moment where Gyubin didn’t want to talk at all. She’s so emotionally intelligent and smart, and loves to talk.
“Gyubin—” Ricky tries, but Gyubin shakes her head.
“I’m sorry, but I just—I can’t. It’s really not because of you, Ricky. Please, believe me.”
Ricky doesn’t know how to respond to that. She believes Gyubin because Gyubin is the most trustworthy person she’s ever met. She knows that Gyubin wouldn’t lie to her, but she can’t help but be upset by the fact this is the one thing she won’t open up about.
But, she can’t force Gyubin to talk. So, she won’t.
Ricky turns back around to the cabinets, reaching up for two plates. “Okay.”
“Okay?” Gyubin asks, unconvinced. She sounds nervous.
“If you don’t want to talk about it, I’m not going to force you.” Ricky says, sighing. She glances over at her and smiles softly, letting all the fear drain from her body. “It’s okay.”
She trusts Gyubin, honestly. If it’s something she can’t talk about, or something she’s afraid of, then Ricky will accept that. Maybe, they can have a conversation about it later. It will probably continue to eat away at her forever, but she can live with a half-eaten heart.
Gyubin’s obviously still stressed out, though. The kitchen goes silent for the rest of the time that she makes dinner. It’s not intentional, but Ricky doesn’t really have anything else to say. The silence must make Gyubin think that Ricky’s upset or something, because as they’re setting the table she finally blurts it out.
“They don’t know about us.” Gyubin shakily admits, sounding as if it physically hurt her.
Ricky stands there with a blank expression with all the silverware in her hands. “What?”
“You’re just my roommate! I’m not—like, out or anything.” Gyubin nervously tugs at the hem of her shirt, looking like she’s about to throw up. “That’s the big secret. That’s why I can’t take you home.”
“You haven’t told your family we’re dating? That you’re bi?” Ricky questions, trying her best to hide the shock in her tone.
“Not every family is like yours, Ricky,” Gyubin accidentally snaps before immediately throwing her head down. “Sorry, I didn’t mean to say it like that. I’m sorry.”
Ricky shakes her head as she drops the forks onto the kitchen table, taking a step forward. She raises her hand to gently cup Gyubin’s cheek. “It’s alright. I’m just—surprised, that’s all.”
“I’m sorry. I can’t tell them.” Gyubin lets her head be tilted up by Ricky’s hand, but doesn’t look her in the eyes. “I’ve tried a million different times, but it’s just not something I can do. And, I didn’t want to tell you because I’m scared.”
Ricky frowns, hating Gyubin’s distraught expression. “Why are you scared?”
“Because this is my first real relationship. I mean, I’ve never moved in with someone before, or gotten a passport for love. We’ve been together for a while, and I know that family is super important to you. I mean, nothing matters more to me than family. But…”
Gyubin shakes her head, and when she doesn’t continue Ricky probes her for more. “But?”
“They’ve always had their own ideas of what my life should be like. And let’s just say marrying a girl definitely isn’t one of them.”
That definitely isn’t something Ricky likes hearing, for multiple reasons. Gyubin sounds so conflicted, so hurt and upset.
Ricky doesn’t know enough about Gyubin’s family to be able to console her. She could try to tell her that everything’s alright, but it clearly isn’t. Gyubin’s been avoiding this conversation since they started dating. While Ricky clearly knew there was always a problem there, she didn’t know the depth of it.
Ricky has always lived in a reality where she was allowed to love anyone she wanted. Granted, she faced a lot of backlash from the world but never from her parents. She was welcomed with love when she came out, and she knows that is rare for other queer people.
She didn’t know Gyubin wasn’t out, and she didn’t know that she was afraid of being so. At least, out to her parents. Gyubin didn’t care about holding her hand in public. If anything, Gyubin was the one who was always all over her, so Ricky never imagined she’d still be in the closet.
“Do you think they’d disapprove?” Ricky asks, rubbing her thumb over her cheekbone.
She almost goes to say disown, but she doesn’t want Gyubin to close up again. She doesn’t want to remind her that’s a possibility if her parents really are as old-fashioned as Gyubin’s making them sound.
Gyubin shrugs. “I don’t know. Probably. I’m too scared to say anything.”
“So, you’re just going to pretend I’m nothing more than your roommate forever?” Ricky raises an eyebrow.
Gyubin sighs. “This is why I didn’t want to tell you. I don’t want you to think that you aren’t important to me.”
“I’m really not judging you. I’m not upset either, Gyubin. I mean it. I just want you to be able to talk to me about these things. I’m a little surprised that you’ve never brought it up before.”
“It’s hard to talk about.” Gyubin purses her lips. “Especially because it’s so… stupid. I’m a loser.”
“You’re not a loser,” Ricky rolls her eyes. “It’s a hard thing to do.”
“Still, it’s stupid. I can hold your hand in public, but I can’t even tell my parents I like girls. How is that not loser-ish?”
Ricky doesn’t really know what to say to that. She doesn’t think Gyubin is a loser, not at all. She would never think that. Maybe, there is some resentment or light self-hatred left over from the fear of coming out that she hasn’t quite dealt with yet because she's been keeping it all locked inside. Ricky’s had her fair share of insecurities to work through, but she could have never imagined Gyubin could struggle with something like that, too. She’s just so open, so confident. So brave, yet struggling silently.
Ricky takes Gyubin’s hand in hers and brings it up to her lips, kissing her knuckles. “You know, it might not be so scary if we’re together.”
Gyubin’s mouth opens slightly, before she shakes her head. “I don’t think I could do it then. It’d be even scarier if you were there. I just…”
Gyubin sighs. “I don’t know.”
“I don’t want you to be worried or stressed out over this. I mean, it’s fine. You don’t need to introduce us, but I think it’d make you feel better if you got it off your chest. Then, you wouldn’t have to worry about it anymore.”
Gyubin doesn’t look convinced at all, but Ricky can tell that she’s going to relent just because Ricky wants her to. Ricky doesn’t want to force her into anything, but she genuinely thinks that maybe it won’t be so bad if she just meets Gyubin’s parents.
“You don’t have to introduce me as your girlfriend. I can just be your roommate.” Ricky smiles.
“Ricky, I don’t want to force you to do that. I don’t want to lie, and make it sound like you’re not important to me.” Gyubin takes both of Ricky’s hands in her own. “I care about you a lot, and you’re my future. But, I just don’t think my family can be involved in that.”
Ricky feels her heart skip a beat like it always does when Gyubin declares that she’s her future. Then, it breaks hearing the sentence directly after. She can tell how much this is eating Gyubin up inside, and she just doesn’t know how to be there for her. She can empathize, but she’ll never know what it’s truly like.
“Can we try at least? Let’s book a flight to Korea, and surprise them. Then, if you really can’t do it they won’t even know about it. There’s absolutely no pressure.”
Gyubin blinks a few times as she thinks about it. “Ricky, I really don’t know.”
“If you don’t want to, we really don’t have to.” Ricky takes a step closer. “But, I think it’d be good. I’d love to meet them. Maybe, I can make them fall in love with me and change their minds.”
Gyubin laughs, shaking her head. “Of course, I know they’ll love you. I think that’s what makes this harder…”
Ricky frowns, not quite understanding what she means. Before she can ask, Gyubin’s talking again.
“But, we can… try. I mean, the tickets are going to be expensive, especially this time of year.”
“We can make it work. It’s been a while since we’ve gone back to Korea, after all.” Ricky smiles. “It’s been a long time since you went back home.”
Gyubin shakes her head. “Home is wherever you are, jagiya. I don’t need anything else as long as I have you. You’re all I want.”
It’s so sincere that Ricky might actually start crying. She hates how Gyubin will say the corniest shit imaginable and actually mean it. It’s true and Ricky believes it and Ricky feels exactly the same, and she can’t believe she’s so madly in love with this cute, adorable dork.
Ricky leans forward and takes Gyubin into a deep kiss. Her hand snakes around Gyubin’s neck, while Gyubin’s hand drops onto her hip.
Gyubin pulls back with a funny expression on her face. “Is it too early to get my Christmas present?”
Ricky’s eyebrow twitches. Gyubin went through their closet recently and found one of the presents that Ricky got for her. It was supposed to be a surprise, but Ricky got her hands on an expensive set of lingerie that was going to make Gyubin unwrap for her, but all her plans went out the window once Gyubin blurted out the fact that she saw it.
Now, Gyubin’s been asking every day if Ricky can put it on for her, even though it pisses Ricky off.
“It’s not Christmas yet.” Ricky lets go of Gyubin’s neck, walking back over to the table. “Be patient, and stop being so naughty.”
Gyubin pouts, crossing her arms. “Says the girl at the top of the naughty list.”
They finish setting the table and eat the dinner Gyubin made. It’s delicious of course, and Ricky is left full and warm when they’re cuddling in bed later that night.
Gyubin’s laying across her chest, probably drooling as she drifts off to sleep. Ricky’s running her hands through her hair, dragging her nails against her scalp and soothing her worries from the day.
Meanwhile, Ricky’s still thinking about their conversation. For once, she’s not looking at Gyubin while she thinks about her. She stares at the ceiling and wonders if she made the right choice. She wonders if they should go to Korea for Christmas, if they should try to meet Gyubin’s parents at all. She worries that maybe Gyubin doesn’t want to, and only agreed to it because Ricky asked her to.
It isn’t until Gyubin tightens her arms around Ricky’s waist does she realize that Gyubin’s still awake.
“Sweetheart?” Ricky whispers.
Gyubin lightly hums. “Hmm?”
“Are you… sure? About going to your parents for Christmas?”
Gyubin doesn’t respond at first, the silence causing Ricky to worry even further. She eventually lets out a soft breath as she yawns.
“Yeah. I’m sure.”
Ricky isn’t entirely convinced, but she doesn’t want to talk either of them out of it. Maybe she should, so they’re both more confident. At least, so she feels more confident. She’s never really stressed about these things before, but she loves Gyubin. She wants Gyubin’s family to love her, but she wants Gyubin to feel safe and comfortable at all times.
Ricky closes her eyes and tries to stop thinking about it. They have a few more days before they have to fly out, so maybe she can think about it some more. Maybe it won’t be too bad, and maybe everything will work out.
She just hopes it will for Gyubin’s sake. All she wants is for her girlfriend to be the happiest girl in the entire world. Is that really too much to ask?
The drive to Gyubin’s parents house honestly isn’t that bad. Gyubin still knows every single neighborhood in Seoul like the back of her hand, and Apgujeong has always been an easy drive even in the snow. The plane ride was honestly the most boring part, but Ricky always finds planes boring.
Ricky hasn’t been to Korea since they moved to Shanghai and she forgot how much he missed it. She misses their friends most of all, even if they talk every single day. They haven’t really talked it out because the plan to fly there was so last minute, but Ricky’s sure they will probably stop at their houses before they fly back to Shanghai.
She hopes so, at least. Gyubin seems like she’ll need it, because the entire drive she was tapping her fingers against the wheel and looking out the window every five seconds.
Ricky has to stop herself from asking what’s wrong because she knows what’s wrong. She’s nervous and afraid. Ricky can understand that, but she doesn’t know what to say. Instead, she places her hand on Gyubin’s thigh and that seems to be enough. Gyubin smiles over at her and relaxes just a little for the rest of the drive.
As soon as they pull up in front of Gyubin’s parent’s house, Ricky has a lot of thoughts. It looks just like any house in the neighborhood, lacking some sort of feature that makes it look lived in. She wonders what it was like growing up here, what Gyubin looked like when she was playing with her friends.
Her imaginations are cut short when Gyubin shuts the car off and lets out the loudest breath Ricky’s ever heard.
“Everything okay?” Ricky asks, rubbing her thumb against Gyubin’s thigh.
Gyubin nods slightly, forcing a toothy grin. “Just peachy.”
“If you need a second before we go in, that’s fine.”
“I’m fine. Let’s go.” Gyubin says, opening the door.
Ricky climbs out of the car and Gyubin follows suit, running around to the other side and standing behind Ricky like some sort of shadow. Ricky can’t help the nervousness that’s rubbing off from Gyubin’s entire demeanor. She wants to console her but doesn’t really know how. She’d reach for her hand, but she doesn’t want Gyubin to jump away in fear.
Eventually, they slowly walk up the steps towards the front door. It’s a short haul from the car, but one that’s long enough to make the entire atmosphere tense.
Before Ricky knows it, they’re standing in front of the door and Gyubin’s still cowering behind her. She turns around to look at her, raising an eyebrow.
Gyubin finally steps out from behind her and walks up to the door. She takes a deep breath, and then reaches out.
Then, she stops. She doesn’t move and Ricky wonders if she’s imagining things because Gyubin doesn’t even sound like she’s breathing. She just stopped.
“Gyubin?” Ricky asks, taking a step forward.
“I can’t do it.” Gyubin’s hand freezes over the doorknob. “Ricky, I can’t do it.”
“Yes, you can.” Ricky places her hand on Gyubin’s shoulder, massaging her fingers against the back of her coat. “You can do it, jagiya.”
Gyubin’s bottom lip quivers. “I can’t. I’m sorry.”
She pulls her hand back like there’s a fire from the other side of the door and she got burned from the door knob. She takes a step back, knocking into Ricky before turning around and running past her.
Ricky doesn’t have enough time to react, stumbling backwards down the steps. Thankfully, she doesn’t fall despite the snow. She steadys herself and is left standing in front of Gyubin’s parents house, looking back towards the street Gyubin ran down.
“I’m sorry!” Gyubin shouts, and Ricky can tell that she’s crying from the shaking in her tone.
Ricky quickly sprints after her. “Gyubin, please! Stop running!”
They probably look ridiculous, running down the snow-covered street like children. Maybe, it could have been fun in a different life. One where Gyubin wasn’t so scared and Ricky knew how to be there for her in the way that she needed.
Ricky isn’t sure how long she chases after her for. She only stops once Gyubin does, and Gyubin can run. Ricky forgot how she was actually a track star in high school.
Gyubin stumbles in front of a playground, swinging open the gate and making her way towards the swingset. Ricky’s panting as she reaches the fence, stopping to catch her breath. Gyubin climbs over the swing and sits down, never looking back.
Gyubin’s back is towards her as she slowly shifts back and forth in the wind. She’s softly crying, hugging herself. Ricky finally walks through the gate and over to her.
“Are you going to break up with me?” Gyubin quietly asked, sniffling.
“What?” Ricky shakes her head, hurriedly walking towards the swing. “Why would I break up with you?”
“Because I suck.” Gyubin sobs, overly animated as always. “I suck!”
She shouts in the empty playground as snow falls. Ricky sits down on the swing beside her, holding onto the chains.
“You don’t suck,” Ricky laughs from how absurd this all is.
They’re somewhere in Gyubin’s hometown, sitting on a swingset in a playground on Christmas Eve. The sun hasn’t quite set yet, but the sky is dark and covered with clouds full of snow. It’d be romantic in any other context, and Ricky’s trying to find the irony in that.
“You don’t suck, alright?” Ricky places a hand on Gyubin’s thigh, gripping tight. “Tell me what’s wrong.”
“I can’t tell them.” Gyubin shakes her head. “I’ll probably never be able to tell them, Ricky. I just can’t come out. I don’t want to force you to be okay with that. I know it’s important to you, and I tried, I really did but I just—”
“Relax, baby, please,” Ricky’s hand flies up to Gyubin’s cheek, turning her head to look at her. “It’s alright. Everything’s okay.”
Gyubin whines into her palm as she cries. “I’m sorry, Ricky. I’m sorry.”
“Shhh,” Ricky leans over and presses a soft kiss to Gyubin’s cheek. “It’s okay. You don’t need to.”
“But—”
“Listen, I promise it’s fine. I don’t need you to do anything like that, Gyubin.” Ricky frowns, bringing her other hand up to squish Gyubin’s cheeks together. “I’m sorry if I made you feel like you needed to.”
Gyubin goes to speak but Ricky squeezes her cheeks together even further, causing the words to come out jumbled.
“I didn’t know how much this was going to scare you. I thought meeting your parents wasn’t going to be a big deal, but I can tell how much it upsets you. I’m sorry, Gyubin. I should have let it be.”
Gyubin shakes her head, reaching out for Ricky’s sweater. Ricky loosens her hands on Gyubin’s cheeks, allowing her to talk again.
“You shouldn’t be the one apologizing. We went through all this trouble of flying to Seoul before Christmas and I can’t even introduce you. I can’t even open the front door.”
“I was the one who wanted us to go, I shouldn’t have pushed so hard. I shouldn’t have pushed you so hard.”
“You didn’t! You never push me. Well, not in like a bad way. Sometimes you push me a little in the bedroom, but I like that—”
Ricky scoffs, rolling her eyes. “Gyubin, please.”
“Sorry.”
“Either way, I’m sorry. You know I hate seeing you cry, jagiya.”
Gyubin sniffles, pouting. “I’m sorry.”
“You have no reason to be sorry.” Ricky drags her hands down Gyubin’s face, placing them on her shoulders. “No more apologies.”
Gyubin goes to apologize again, but stops herself which causes Ricky to laugh. Gyubin swipes away the last of her tears, clearing her throat. Ricky takes her hands off of Gyubin’s shoulders and wraps them around the chains holding up the swingset.
They sit there in silence for a little while the snow falls around them. It’s a calming, serene moment in the aftermath of the chase it took them to get there. Gyubin finally seems to calm down as she takes a deep breath, ready to leave.
“What are we going to do, then?” Gyubin sighs. “We came all this way for nothing. I can’t—I don’t want them to meet you, not like this.”
Ricky shakes her head. “That’s okay. I wouldn’t say it was for nothing. When’s the last time we saw any of our friends? I’m sure we could crash someone’s Christmas dinner.”
“Taeri told me that she was having a party tonight, I think.” Gyubin sniffles again, shivering from the cold. “If I remember, she lives on the other side of the city.”
Ricky stands up from the swingset, reaching out for Gyubin’s hand. “Then we have a party to crash.”
Gyubin sheepishly smiles, taking Ricky’s hand as she stands up. She pulls Ricky into a tight hug, wrapping her arms around her and squeezing. “I love you, I love you, I love you.”
“I love you, too,” Ricky grunts out. “A little tight, though.”
“I don’t care,” Gyubin squeezes her tighter, tucking her head into her shoulder. “I love you so much, jagiya. My Ricky-ah. Thank you for everything.”
Ricky sighs, letting Gyubin cut off all the air from going to her lungs. “It’s no problem.”
It really isn’t a problem. She knows how hard it is to come out, despite not knowing the exact circumstances Gyubin lived in. She knows how much Gyubin cares about what her family thinks about her, and she knows it’s not easy to live as the person she wants to be in front of them. She just hopes that one day, maybe Gyubin can be herself.
They walk hand-in-hand the entire way back to Gyubin’s car. Gyubin’s talkative again, looking happier and brighter than she had the entire plane ride and drive up. She doesn’t even flinch when they stop in front of her parent’s house for a second before getting back in.
Gyubin looks a little flustered as she takes one last glance up the stairs, but then smiles again as soon as she looks at Ricky.
“I love you,” she says as soon as they are back on the road.
Ricky stares out the window at the falling snow. It got heavier as they drove, coating more and more of the streets white. She takes a deep breath and turns back to Gyubin with a smile. She feels a warm blooming up her chest despite the temperatures outside.
“I love you, too.” Ricky places her hand on Gyubin’s thigh.
Maybe when they’re back at the hotel, Ricky can finally give Gyubin her present. She brought it in her suitcase, after all. She wasn’t sure when they would find the time, but seeing as they have no plans she’s sure she can make some. As long as Taeri’s party doesn’t last too long.
The thought makes her laugh. Gyubin is going to freak out once she sees her all dressed up. Or dressed down, she guesses.
“What’s so funny?” Gyubin asks.
“You’ll find out.”
(When they show up at Taeri’s door an hour later uninvited, her eyes almost fall out of her head.
“You came to Korea and didn’t even tell me?!”
Gyubin nervously chuckled while Ricky just couldn’t stop herself from laughing.
“Merry Christmas…?”)
