Yuder was walking around the outside of the Calvary, patrolling the vicinity.
It was an undeniably snowy day, where the birds have evacuated inside of their nests, huddling together. The snowflakes gently touched the leaves of the tree, which was colored in white. The Calvary, training in the snow, had a noticeable change. Most of them were slower compared to when it was sunny.
‘I should train them to handle the snow.’
But most of the younger members, especially those who got sick easily, were advised heavily by Enon to rest or do training indoors. Those like Finn and Hinn were happy, hopping to their rooms, while those like Jimmy were saddened.
“It's cold.”
Muttering a sigh even if he wasn’t affected, he glanced around the area once again before pausing his gaze. He saw how the pile of leaves rustled, like something was inside it. He squinted his eyes before slowly walking forward.
“...Nipollen?”
He called out. Yuder thought it was Nipollen, who snuck out of his brother’s grasp. Only the rustle of the leaves answered him, leaving him to furrow his eyebrows at the unusual answer. He sensed a familiar energy, most probably an awakener.
‘...An awakener that can transform?’
It might as well have been an enemy. But his instincts were telling him it wasn’t a dangerous awakener. Slowly kneeling down, he softly called out to the creature hiding in the pile.
“...Come out, I won’t hurt you. If you won’t hurt the Calvary, then I'll let you stay inside for a while.”
The leaves rustled once again. Yuder decided to wait for it to come out, lighting up a small fire on his palm. After waiting for a minute, a small kitten suddenly came out. The shivering beige kitten flicked its ears as it came closer to the fire on Yuder’s palm. The kitten’s nose twitched before sitting down near his palm.
‘..How long has it been hiding there?’
After the kitten had completely stopped shivering, the fire on Yuder’s palm slowly disappeared. The cat tilted its head before letting out a curious noise. Yuder’s lips twitched as he removed the jacket that Kishiar gave him before he went out. He gently carried the kitten, wrapped the kitten comfortably in the jacket and strolled to the Calvary.
‘Its lunch.’
Judging by the fact that there weren’t any more explosions or screaming, it was most probably lunch time. Yuder decided to look for Kanna to confirm it was an awakener. Walking to the cafeteria, Kanna and Gakane greeted him, although both had curiously gazed at the jacket he was holding.
“Um, did you adopt the kitten…?”
“..I found them outside the Calvary.”
“So… They’re like Nipollen, right?”
‘So I was right.’
Kanna scanned the cat. The cat, who didn’t notice anything unusual, licked their paws cutely. Yuder greeted them farewell, walking on the hallway to the Commander’s office. Yuder glanced at the cat, who was looking at the hallway with curious eyes.
‘...This awakener is quite a curious one.’
Ascending the stairs, he knocked on the Commanders door before immediately opening it. He was welcomed with Kishiar La Orr sitting down, bundles of extravagant and luxurious gifts laid on the table. He stood up, smiling as he wiped the snow on Yuder’s hair and shoulders.
“Welcome back, it seems like my cute assistant found an awakener?”
Flinch. The kitten jumped from the jacket, scurrying beneath the couch. Their stiff tail was slightly peeking out, his small body hiding behind the legs of the couch. Kishiar laughed, making Yuder sigh and walk over to the couch and lowered himself.
“It's alright, we won’t punish you.”
The kitten’s tail slowly wagged. After a while, the kitten slowly came out, glancing nervously at Kishiar and Yuder. Kishiar smiled, kindly taking two steps back. The kitten was silent before it opened his mouth, a young girl’s voice coming out of it.
“Can I.. get some clothes first before I transform back?”
‘...!’
“Hmm.. Nathan is currently out right now…”
Kishiar’s brows furrowed before he walked to his bedroom. Yuder, who knew that he was going to get some clothes that could cover her body somehow, decided to communicate with her.
“What’s your name? How old are you?”
“I'm Yanne.. im.. 12 years old…”
“How did you manage to get here?”
“Umm.. I was just looking for warmth…”
Yanne, the small kitten, decided to tell everything that happened. Yuder patiently listened to her story.
‘So… she was just travelling everywhere…’
Judging by how she spoke and didn’t mention her last name, she seemed to be a commoner. Her curious gazes also signified she never saw anything as luxurious as the Calvary. After listening to her story, Kishiar La Orr came back with clothes as if it was a coincidence. Meeting his gaze, Yuder nodded.
‘It seems he heard everything too.’
“For the little Miss.”
“Ah, um. Thank you! Where’s… the bathroom?”
Kishiar kindly guided to the direction, placing down the clothes and closing the door. Kishiar La Orr walked back, sitting down on the couch. Of course, he quickly faced Yuder’s direction and beckoned for him to sit beside Kishiar with a smile. Yuder sighed, sitting down beside him. Kishiar happily laid his face on his shoulders, touching the ends of Yuder’s hair.
“Hmm. Even if she isn’t an official member, we can still protect her since she is an awakener.”
“I’m not comfortable with a 12 year old awakener out there.”
“Haha, it seems like we share the same worries.”
Kishiar’s laugh tickled Yuder’s neck. Feeling the unexpected rush of air, Yuder flinched, his cheeks reddening. Then the door slowly swung open, and Kishiar quickly sat properly. A girl with brown hair and red eyes appeared, fiddling with the hems of the shirt as she walked to them with her head bowed down. Kishiar La Orr smiled, softly asking her.
“Hmm.. Yanna, you don’t have a place to stay, right?”
“Ah, um. Yes…”
Her voice was barely heard as she avoided Kishiar’s gaze. Kishiar La Orr blinked, albeit dumbfounded. Yuder was about to laugh out loud before explaining to her.
“We’re planning to make you an unofficial member until the applications come out.”
The small pale hands fiddling paused, before she lifted her head up completely. Her small eyes were twinkling with joy, reminiscent of a shooting star.
“Are… are you sure…?”
“Hmm… then.. Do you want to be our child?”
‘...Huh?’
Yuder and Yanna turned to Kishiar, both faces were eerily similar with their shocked faces. Kishiar swallowed his observations, smiling as he tapped his thigh.
“If you don’t want to be an unofficial member, then we can happily take care of you until you become an official member. Like we’re adopting you. How about that?”
“Um, I'm okay with that!”
Yanna nodded, a smile beaming on her face for the first time. Yuder hesitated before he sighed, nodding in agreement as both of them looked at them with shining eyes. Noticing that even if they weren't related in any way, they still had identical expressions, Yuder smiled.
‘Well, it should be alright.’
