Work Text:
Uki walked up to the door nervously. He gently fixed his clothes as he double checked the directions he was given earlier. These are the people he's going to debut with. He takes a deep breath and opens the door.
Uki doesn't know what he was expecting, but it wasn't this.
A young man was sitting on the couch with his headphones on muttering to himself in what seems like Japanese. A catboy and a man with hair bright enough to be a highlighter had their arms linked together while giggling about something.
Uki went to turn around and leave the room. This was obviously the wrong room. However, he was stopped by someone's body.
“Sorry,” they both spoke and looked at each other. Uki was stunned with what he saw. The man had a boyish look to him, but his opal eyes had so much warmth in them, like someone who's been through a lot.
“Fulgur Ovid. Nice to meet you.” The man offered his hand, which Uki had just realized was made of metal. Uki shook his hand.
“Uki Violeta.”
“What a pretty name.” Uki didn't know what came over him, but he melted. Maybe this was the right place.
“I love you, Ukiki.” Fulgur gently stroked Uki's hair as the psychic laid his head on the cyborg's chest.
“I love you, too, Fuufuu-chan.” Uki rubbed his now glasses barren face against Fulgur. The little bit of chest hair Uki felt through the cyborg's shirt pleasantly scratched his cheeks.
The feeling of warmth and home spread through both of them as they lay on Fulgur's couch. Uki's eyes were getting heavy as Fulgur hummed a melody similar to “Enshrouding.” He was happy Fulgur was more confident in his voice. Uki gave into the feeling and closed his eyes.
Uki tried his hardest not to cry on stream, but it wasn't working very much. His choked sobs were picked up by his mic for everyone to hear. Chat gently consoled him with words like “It's okay to cry,” “We're here for you,” and “Take as much time as you need.” Their comforts were his only little support right now. He wiped his eyes and took a few deep breaths.
“Thank you guys,” Uki spoke as steadily as he could.
Things were as back to normal as they could be. Whenever Uki thought about his lost love, he didn't weep anymore. He'd give a small smile in the cyborg's honor and carry on.
Uki had been sitting on a park bench getting some fresh air when someone sat beside him. Uki tilted his head a little to look at the person. White hair, casual clothes, and the opal eyes that shined so brightly. Just who he was hoping for.
The two didn't say anything to each other, just the occasional glances to make sure the other was who they thought they were. Uki gently slipped his hand into the man's hand. The man gave a gentle squeeze. Reassurance that he felt the same even after everything.
“The moon looks lovely tonight, doesn't it?” The stranger spoke soothingly. Uki gave a knowing smile as he looked up and couldn't even spot the moon in the starry night.
“It is,” he replied.
It may not be what he had before, but this unspoken, almost forbidden, love was absolutely perfect to him now.
