Where the wind goes

Summary:

Lyney and Lynette grow up in the House of the Hearth, but in this au, there’s a twist. They both hunt for their family, but this hunt leads them to odd corners of teyvat, where they meet the oddest of people, and maybe help heal the Ragnvindr brothers unintentionally. Freminet is mentioned butnot a large character for the first part. Lyney and Lynette are 13 for the start but may grow older (I have no clue what I’m doing)

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

“What do you see, Lynette?”

Lynette looked at her father, curiously.

“It’s a video, father…” She said, blinking.

“Yes, little one. What is in the video?”

“Two people on a carriage, father…probably father and son? This seems to be recorded by something in the air… a Fatui drake?…” Lynette was confused why her father was showing her this. The Knave smiled her usual cold smile, watching the 7 year old girl.

“Watch carefully.” The Knave clicked play.

Lynette was careful not to flinch when the man died. Lynette was careful not to show any emotion or weakness at all, to make her father proud. She did not let her eyes widen or let her eyes tear up seeing the other blue haired boy run in too late. She would not disappoint father. This had to be a test for weakness.

The knave watched her quietly, searching her expression. She paused the video. “...What do you think, little one?”

“...” Lynette chose her words carefully. “...Drake is very well made…” She didn’t know what answer her father wanted. “The delusion is dangerous,”

“And the people?”

“Mondstadtian, likely, based on their accent. Father and son, and the other man who ran in was likely an… adopted son? He called the man ‘father’, though he looked nothing like the other two, and the red-haired boy- Diluc, uh, seemed happy to see him? Not happy, but… a bit less tense, though he was still… weak from his father’s death…” Lynette tried to piece together what her father wanted.

The knave’s face remained expressionless, pressing play. There was more to the video?

Lynette watched the knights take the body away, Diluc staring silently at the ground, the blue haired boy going to him. The scene seems to slowly settle down, before the boy- Kaeya, Diluc called him, said the truth.

‘Khaenriah.’

Lynette wondered if this was why her father was showing her this. To show her the fate of the fallen nation, and it’s people today. She watched Diluc attack Kaeya, Kaeya begging for him to stop, Diluc blinded. Kaeya was going to die- but then the vision came. Diluc left. The video ended.

“Why do you think I showed you this?” Father asked, face still unreadable.

“...to show me… what the remnants of khaenriah have become, they’ve resorted to?” Lynette asked.

For the months after that, Father showed her videos of Diluc’s attacks against the Fatui in Sneznaya, and asked and prepared her on how to outmanuver him and attackers like him.

Lynette never knew if the answer she gave that day was what Father wanted or not.
