Mayoi felt his alarm buzz at 5:30 in the morning. He really didn't want to wake up, knowing what day it is today... but he made himself get up from the confines of his bed anyway. Really, it was like a shackle on his body.
He stretched, wishing he could just lay back down instead. He didn't have the best night either, another breakdown only giving him two hours of sleep. 'I should try starting my medication..' he thought idly. Wobbling slightly out of bed, he slipped his black house shoes over his feet (a gift from his boyfriend, Niki) and shuffled to said man's room.
Opening the door to Niki's room quietly, Mayoi could see that he was still asleep, which wasn't unusual. Niki was sort of a deep sleeper.
Mayoi caught himself staring longer than necessary, and quickly hurried back to his own room to not be caught being a weirdo. He knew Niki didn't mind much, but still...
Mayoi was completely awake and active about two hours later. He was sitting in their kitchen, thumbing idly through his phone. He felt it before he heard it, Niki's arms wrapping loosely around his shoulders with a sleepy grumble.
"Ahh, I slept like crap last night..." he complained, his chin hooking over Mayoi's shoulder to look at him. Despite being in a romantic relationship for almost 3 years now, Mayoi still got embarrassed over acts of affection, big or small. He hummed quietly in sympathy, turning his head slightly to press a kiss to Niki's cheek. At least that made him smile a bit.
"Anyway... merry Christmas, hon!" Niki said with more enthusiasm, nuzzling into the side of Mayoi's face. "I know you're not big on celebrating and stuff... buuuuut I got a few things for you!"
Mayoi was right, he wasn't big on celebrating. And hearing that Niki had gotten things for him? He didn't think that far ahead..
"Y-You really shouldn't have.. I haven't even thought of getting anything! Uuu, I'm useless.." he mumbled, his face turning red.
"Hey hey, it's alright! Just having you today is enough for me~ now come on, your gifts are in my room!"
..Niki really was too kind to him.
