It had been a very eventful year for the swords, so Yasusada had been thankful Aruji had given them time off to celebrate the new year. He at first didn’t have any plans other than to spend the day with Kashuu but after talking with Mutsunokami he wondered about the possibility of doing more to celebrate the new year’s.
“Kiyomitsu!” Yasusada called out as he made his way back to their room.
Kashuu poked his head out of the room when he heard his name. “Am I needed for something?”
Yasusada shook his head, “no not really, but I’ve been thinking about our new year's plans?
“I assumed we would attend the news party and maybe light some fireworks with everyone”
“We can, but also Mutsunokami told me about all these new year’s traditions that I think we should do.
“Oh? What sort of traditions?”
“Just different things we can do, to make the new year lucky.
Yasusada could tell that Kashuu was hesitant, but he wasn’t going to be for long. “Come, we need to go to the store for everything”
“Everything?!”
“Yes” Yasusada said as he took his arm to drag him out of the room.

“From what I’ve noticed we need a lot of fruit, especially if it is round. So, oranges, apples. Oh, and grapes but we need 12 for each of us. We also need beans but a certain type. Also do you have a suitcase?”
“This seems like a lot, and I don’t think anyone in the citadels has a suitcase. Why do we need one?”
“It’s a tradition to have one, and to bring it out. I think this can help us get dispatched more and even if we can’t eat all this fruit someone else can.
Kashuu just shook his head, Yasusada still hadn’t told him what all this entailed.
“Oh, also Mitsutada-san asked us to pick up some items for the party, so we need to grab that too.
Kashuu just shook his head and sighed.

Kashuu watched as Yasusada set out all the items they got, fruit, a suitcase, there was also a bucket of water, as well as an assortment of other items.
“Will you finally tell me what your plan is, the party is in an hour. “
“Yes, but it is all a set of steps. Mutsunokami told me how all these different countries have traditions, so we need to start with jumping off a chair or somehow here decently high, then we need to throw a bucket of water outside a window. Also, we need to take at least a lap around our room with the suitcases. Also I got us ties with polka dots, which he should wear. Also, we must eat at least 12 round fruits, but also 12 grapes right before the new year hits. I talked to Masatada, and he has soba and prawns for us to eat. Then … well there’s one last thing but that will be a surprise. “
“This is definitely a lot.”
“Yes, but the more things we do the better year we can have right?”
Kashuu had the slightest bits of a smile as he looked at Yasusada, this was a lot, but he knew where his heart was and though he wasn’t sure wanted to admit it but it did seem fun.
“Aright but let me at least find something that makes the polka dots look good.”

Finding chairs to jump off was the easiest, and so was throwing water from a window, though both weren’t sure if Izuminokami drenched by the water they threw would help or hurt their luck. Eating the fruit was both difficult, especially since kashuu knew they had tp eat more later. It also seemed like whenever they finished one thing, something else was added. Soon though, Kashuu was sure they were close to finished.
“Other then the final count down, do you think we have anything else?” Kashuu asked
“We have just one more thing, but it needs to wait”
As all the other swords began the count down, Yasusada took Kashuu’s hand.

As Kashuu felt his attention drawn to the fireworks, Yasusada quickly took his attention away with a small kiss. “This is the last thing, its to insure we can spend the next year together.
Kashuu felt his whole face go red, hopefully no one was watching them, He wasn’t sure if he just was embarrassed or he didn’t want anyone else but Yasusada to see him like this. Though the fireworks had to be distracting enough.
