Work Text:
Kristoff had agreed to give Olaf a ride to the morning practice. The fall season had ended some weeks before, so it didn’t matter that it was cold and drizzling, because it would be an indoor workout. It was still dark for another hour, so indoors was best, anyway. He pulled up to the front of Olaf’s building, to find Olaf waiting just inside the door, out of the rain. He walked out to the car holding a large wreath.
“Thanks for the ride, Kristoff!” Olaf said as he got in, putting the wreath on his lap as he buckled in.
“What’s the wreath for?” Kristoff asked as he pulled off.
“It’s for the boathouse, of course!” Olaf told him. “I thought it should be festive this time of year.”
Kristoff nodded. “I suppose so. Is there going to be a party or anything?”
“I think Anna and Elsa were planning something. They’ll probably say something when we get there.”
“There’s a lot going on this time of year, so they should probably let people know soon,” Kristoff said.
“Huh, I hadn’t thought of that.”
Kristoff nodded, and drove silently for several minutes before pulling into the parking lot. Anna and Elsa were outside stringing up some Christmas lights.
“Oh, good! They brought the lights!” Olaf said. “Anna said they had some.”
“There’s cocoa inside!” Anna said as they pulled in, “And Rapunzel brought cookies.”
“I didn’t know there was anything special planned for this morning,” Kristoff said. “Do you need help?”
“Could you reach over there?” Anna asked, handing him the end of the string of lights.
Kristoff draped the string to the end of the awning. “Good?” he asked.
“Perfect!” Anna said. “Shall we plug them in?”
Elsa nodded, plugging in the lights.
“I love it!” Olaf exclaimed.
“Let’s get inside now!” Anna said.
They went on inside, took off their coats, and Kristoff realized the whole place was decorated. None of the other rowers were there yet, though he saw one of the cars pulling into the parking lot.
“Here, Kristoff, have some hot cocoa!” Anna said, pressing a warm paper coffee cup into his hands.
“Thanks,” he replied. It smelled good, so he wasn’t about to refuse.
“We decided to make this a surprise,” Anna said. “It’s easier than trying to schedule a party this time of year, you know. We tried that once, and, hoo boy, let me tell you, did we have a lot of food left over!”
