Heading out

Summary:

Therian thinking as they head out into Ishgard.

Notes:

Therian is a very bad judge of character. He very much imposes his own traits onto those around him. (Raelinn is a WoL that belongs to a friend of mine. We corun their stories together and the two characters have a long history.)

Work Text:

'My Manservant will be waiting for you at the gates.'

Therian tilts his head back as the door clicks shut behind Haurchefant. He can hear the others gathering their things. Wrapping up in borrowed coats and shuffling on boots. Yet, all he can think about is that simple set of words.

Of course, Haurchefant had been called Lord before. Alphinaud said it regularly. He was the commander here in camp Dragonhead. But having a servant specific in a city the likes he'd heard of Ishgard. Was... Was Haurchefant a lord in the House de Fortemps?

His arms cross and he looks between his companions. Was he.... So not only was he pushy and manipulative... That... That scoundrel! And he'd let himself get close to him the other night. That wretched man!

"Hey. Wipe the stupid look off your face, idiot. Think about it is later," Raelinn looks up at him from her three feet of height. Her heavy coat pulled tight around her small shoulders. "We're heading out."

A shake of his head, Therian glances about the intercessory once more. The few cots his companions stayed in are tucked away into the corner of the room. He could think more on Haurchefant later. "Whatever," he grunts, frowning down at her.

Raelinn huffs. She avoids the prodding of his boot to her back as he follows her out.

Alphinaud is already ahead, leading the way with Tataru out of Camp Dragonhead. Tataru turns back towards Raelinn and Therian. "Come on you two! We don't want to get separated in this weather!"

---

The heights of the city are always different up close. Certainly so for his companions, yet still, all Therian can think on is the man guiding them through the Foundation up the many long steps towards the Pillars. A manservant. Haurchefant belonged to the high house. He'd been...

He lets the irritation slip away from his face as they approach the manor. The bright, smiling face of a one Haurchefant waits outside for them.

"The Warriors of Light and their brave companions, walking the streets of Ishgard at last! What a glorious sight!" Haurchefant exclaims with an untold vigor. His hands grasped at the air excitedly. Then a turn as he gestures back towards the manor behind him. "I cannot tell you how long I have waited for this day. Allow me to present to you my family home: Fortemps Manor!

I should like nothing more than to show you around, but everyone is gathered to receive you."

The group all look up towards the building. Tataru and Alphinaud already curious to enter. Raelinn nudges Therian in the calf with her elbow. There's a teasing look up. "You'll get to see your boyfriend's room."

Therian goes completely red in the face and the ears. "Shut up," he hisses at her. He taps her in the body with his leg and steps away.

Haurchefant casts a look over the two. A lingering look from Raelinn up across Therian. If he has words over her teasing, he does not say them, instead, continuing on. "Come, my friends! Introductions must be made!"
