Crisis on Earth-X

Summary:

It's the Crisis on Earth-X crossover but it's gay and it fits into the lore of the other fanfic I'm writing "Legends with a Twist."

The other one isn't a required read for this and this isn't a required read for that, it's just a little bonus.

Work Text:

The team arrived in Central City for Barry and Oliver’s big day and split up. Both grooms were having their own bachelor parties. Sara and Ray went to Oliver’s, and you, Stein, and Jax went to Barry’s. Nate, Zari, Amaya, and Mick were coming to the wedding but not the parties beforehand, which made a lot of sense. Mick had tried to kill Barry on multiple occasions, and the others were still new to the team.

“Thank you all for coming to this, by the way.” Barry said, a collection of superheroes and friends sitting around Joe West’s living room.

“Wouldn’t miss it for the world, Barr.” Iris said, a warm smile etched across her face.

“Hey, if you and Oliver can find the time to get married, we can all take the time to celebrate it.” Cisco agreed.

“I can’t believe you’re really doing this.” You note with a smile, awed and happy for the two of them.

“Yeah, I mean, how many superheroes actually get the love interest?” Jax added.

“Well with this wedding, we can add you and Oliver to that list.” Kara said.

“People like us are always going to be getting into trouble, right? Having someone by our side just makes getting out of that trouble that much easier.” Barry explains. “We figured we might as well make it official.

“And it is truly an honor to get to be here to see you get your happy ending.” Stein said, raising his glass. Everyone follows suit, raising glasses or beer bottles in a cheers.

{Barry} “I’m truly just so glad all of you could make it. I mean, it’s not like any of us really get days off from work.”

“I think the police can handle themselves for one weekend. And I know on my earth there are still plenty of people who can handle anything that does happen.” Kara counters. “And I can’t deny, it is nice to get a break from it all.”

“Hey, I’ll drink to that.” Jax says.

“There’s the man of the hour!” Sara exclaimed, walking into Oliver’s apartment with Ray close behind.

“Sara, Ray.” Oliver greets, a soft smile on his lips. “You both made it. I wasn’t sure you would.”

“Well, when you live on a timeship, you can make time.” Ray quipped.

“Well, we’re happy to have you.” Felicity said, pulling Sara into a greeting hug.

“And, we brought booze.” Sara offers a bottle of Vodka to Oliver. It was a 1975 bottle of Rossii Chechnya.

“Wow, how did you get this?” Oliver asks. Sara then spends the next hour explaining how Mick stole this when the team was last in Russia.

“You think someone on your ship might be next?” Felicity asks after another few hours of conversation.

“Well, seeing as the 2 couples on our ship broke up, probably not.” Ray explained.

“Really? What about you and [Y/N]?” Diggle asks.

“What about us?” Ray asks, tilting his head in confusion, but the smile never leaving his lips.

“Are you two not…?” Thea asks.

“Oh, no. We’re just friends.” Ray explains, waving his hands as if to wave off the allegation. Thea and Falicity look over to Sara as if for confirmation, but all she can do is shrug.

The two parties assemble much later for a rehearsal dinner. It was a fun time for everyone to get together, hang out, and talk.

“Can I have everyone’s attention for a second?” Joe asks, clinking his drink. “So the old man has a few words to say. Barry and Oliver. What can I possibly say about Barry and Oliver that everyone in this room doesn’t already know?” He asked sarcastically. “How they’re special, and kind, and brave. But we all know that, so, I’m gonna talk to you about someone you might not know. Me.” Oliver, with his arm around his fiancée, lets out a slight chuckle.

“For the longest time, I’ve been happy just to be a dad to Barry. To watch him grow up and live his life. And now I get to see him live his life with someone he loves. And to get to watch them face what they have the last few years as a team, and with love, so much love, has been truly an honor. I’m happy to see my boy so happy and to have Oliver join the family. To Barry and Oliver!” He concludes, raising his glass. Everyone quickly follows suit, raising glasses and clinking them together.

The wedding itself was beautiful. It was in an old church in Central City, the pews lined with yellow and red flowers and green flowing fabric. Oliver stood at the altar, Diggle and Thea by his side, and on the other side stood Cisco and Iris, ready to support Barry. There were no sides for one groom or the other, just everyone together. The Legends took up a full row to yourselves. You, Ray, Mick, Jax, and Stein sat together with Stein's wife and daughter. When the ceremony started, Kara got up to sing. She sang ‘Runnin’ Home To You’, a song Barry had written to propose to Oliver, as Barry walked down the aisle. He walked down with Joe.

“Everyone please be seated.” The officiant announced. “Welcome to you all. I’m honored to be presiding over the wedding of Oliver Queen and Barry Allen. Although I don’t know them well, I know that this is a good match. How do I know that? Because of you, because of all of you. Looking out at their friends and their family, and seeing the joy on all of your faces. Seeing how happy you are for them tells me everything I need to know. It tells me that these two people deserve to be together. They deserve to be happy and fulfilled. And they deserve a long life together. And now to the standard housekeeping. Does anyone have any just cause why these two should not be married? Speak now, or forever hold your peace.” Barry had almost laughed at that, but before he could, the officiant had been blasted and disintegrated.

“Peace is overrated.” A flying masked figure interrupted.

“Nazis?” Oliver mutters to himself, looking over the crowd of black and red uniforms and masked faces.

“I hate Nazis.” Barry and Oliver say in unison. Their speaking together might have been cute if not for the sentence itself and the fact that there were Nazis at their wedding. It didn’t take long for a full-on fight to break out.

Everyone made it out of the fight with only minor injuries, a few bruises and cuts, nothing major. Everyone decided to regroup at STAR Labs, it was the closest and had a convenient holding cell for a Nazi that Sara and Alex were able to bring back for questioning. When Barry and Oliver could finally take a moment to breathe, Barry pulled Oliver into a hug.

“God, I’m so sorry.” Barry muttered into the other man’s shoulder.

“I know, it’s alright.” Oliver reassured, rubbing his hand over the speedster’s back. “We’re all ok. I’m ok.” Barry nodded.

“The most important thing is that we’re both alright.” Barry agreed. Oliver pulled back and cupped his fiancée’s face.

“I am going to marry you.” He asserted, his voice firm and loving. Barry smiled up at the other man before having to regroup with everyone else.

“You wiped the minds of the guests at the wedding?” Oliver asks. Everyone joining back together in the cortex.

“Yup. Everyone’s secret identity remains secret.” Mick said, waving the Time Bureau’s memory eraser.

“And idea where they fled?” Barry asks, turning to Kara.

“No. I flew over the entire city, there’s no trace of them.” She answers.

“Well clearly they attacked because you all were there.” Iris notes.

“Try and take out the biggest threat?” You suggest.

{Jax} “What I don’t understand is why they’re here.”

{Stein} “Yes, their appearance seems quite a severe course of action in support of a cause that was defeated over 70 years ago.”

{Barry} “Apparently, they didn’t know about the Yalta Conference.”

{Kara} “That woman didn’t seem surprised to see me.”

{Alex} “Yeah, how did she even know you were on this Earth?”

{Barry} “And how was she as strong as you?”

“That archer matched me, shot for shot. I think it’s time we get some answers.” Oliver says, looking over the monitors of the nazi prisoner.

“Yeah, he ain’t exactly talkin’.” Jax warned.

“So let's make him talk.” Oliver growled. He stormed down to the cell with Barry, Kara, and Sara in tow. The man took off his mask and Oliver’s face fell

“Who is that?” Kara asked, seeing the recognition on his and Sara’s faces.

“That’s Tommy Merlyn.” Sara answered. “He died over 4 years ago.”

“Oliver, who’s Tommy Merlyn?” Barry asks.

“Thea’s other brother.” He answers. There’s an airiness to his voice, sorrow and regret filled with confusion. “And my best friend.” Oliver walked closer to the glass dividing him and Tommy. Barry followed, placing a hand on the archer’s shoulder for comfort. “We’re going to need a moment alone.” He muttered. Barry nodded, squeezing his fiancée’s shoulder before leaving with everyone. Everyone else regrouped in the cortex, still able to see the interrogation on monitors.

“He’s a crony.” Mick asserted.

“Anacranism.” Ray corrects.

“That’s what I said.” Mick counters.

“Lately we’ve been dealing with Anacranisms,” Sara started. “People and things displaced in time.”

“Ok, but why would nazis from 1945 wanna crash this wedding?” Jax asked.

“Crab legs. They were delicious.” Mick said.

“Well, Jax has a point, though.” Alex interrupted. “If they’re out of time, they would have targeted the military or law enforcement.”

“It also wouldn’t explain why Tommy is on their side.” You continue.

“It would if we weren’t dealing with an anachronism.” Caitlin countered.

“Visitors from another Earth?” Barry asks.

“There’s more than one Earth?” Mick asks.

“Y-Yes, where do you think Kara came from?” Ray answers, shocked Mick forgot. Mick just shrugs.

“There are actually 52 Earths.” Kara continues.

{Stein} “I’m hard pressed to think of one where nazis are ascendant.”

“I can. There’s a 53rd Earth, and it’s called Earth-X.” Wells explains. “It doesn’t have a designation because it’s a place so awful, so horrific, no sane person would ever travel there.”

“Great… Nazi Earth.” Sara mutters bitterly.

It took a while for anyone to find the Earth-Xers. But once someone did, Barry, Oliver, and Kara rushed to their location.

“So what do we know about this place? Why are the Earth_Xers targeting it?” Barry asks, the three of them walking up to Dayton Optical Systems, a research lab in Central City.

“Because,” A masked figure says, his voice distorted with a modulator. It was the archer from the wedding, along with the flying girl and a man in yellow. “They had something we needed.” The man finished.

“Whatever you stole,”

“We’re gonna want it back.” Barry finished Oliver’s sentence.

“Your confidence is predictable. You’ve faced some of the greatest evils known to man, and you’ve defeated them. You think so highly of yourselves that you can defeat any threat that comes your way. But what happens when you come up against something you didn’t expect?” The masked man. He reaches up to his mask and takes it off. So did his partners. They were dopelgangers of Kara, Oliver, and Eobard Thawne.

“This is sick.” Oliver mutters.

“You mean looking at your reflection and seeing only weakness? I agree.” His counterpart says.

“Thawne?” Barry mutters the name as a question, almost not believing his eyes.

“Direct from Earth-1. Do you like my face?” He asks sarcastically. “I thought I’d put it on again. You know, for old times' sake.”

“I watched you die.” Barry counters.

“Or did you? It’s time travel, Barry. So very confusing. I always seem to be saying that to you. Reminding you that you can’t get rid of me.”

“We’ve been watching you.” Kara’s dopelganger says. “We’ve been watching all of you. And how you’ve squandered the potential of 2 worlds. On our Earth, we’ve developed a meritocracy. We’ve accomplished greatness.”

“You’re perverse.” Kara mutters.

“No, Kara, you’re the perversion. The most powerful being on the planet rendered weak by saccharine Americana. My pod was blessed to crash in the fatherland.” Overgirl explained.

“Then go back there.” Barry suggested.

“This is not your Earth. Leave.” Oliver demanded.

“I don’t answer to the likes of you.” Dark Arrow argued. “My allegiance is to the fatherland, and to my wife.” He looked over to his Kara, and she offered him a small smirk.

“His wife? Gross.” Kara blurted out. “No offence.” She quickly added, realising her words came out wrong.

“Last chance! Go home.” Oliver demanded again. The three of them wore wicked smiles, signaling they weren’t going to go back to Earth-X quietly. Barry and Thawne quickly sped off, leaving only red and yellow lightning in their wake. Oliver quickly nocked an arrow, pointing it at Overgirl. She actually laughed.

“And what do you think that’s going to do? Bullets bounce off of me.”

“This arrow won’t.” Oliver mumbled, firing the arrow at her shoulder. It was a warning shot. And the arrow pierced through her skin. She stumbled back a few steps, clutching her shoulder in her hand. Dark Arrow looked between his wife and his dopelganger, shock and anger plastered on his face.

“Is that a kryptonite arrow?” Kara asked. “Why do you have a kryptonite arrow?”

“In case an evil you ever showed up.” Oliver argued. Overgirl being genuinely hurt made Dark Arrow call for a retreat. Overgirl lasered a building so the three heroes would have to save the citizens, allowing them to escape. Once everyone in the building was rescued, the trio returned to S.T.A.R. Labs to find out what the nazis had even stolen.

“Dayton Optical Systems calls it ‘The Prism’.” Felicity explains.

“What on earth would they need a sub-light generator for?” Harry asks, mostly to himself. When Oliver gives him a look of confusion, he continues. “It’s basically a spectral emitter that uses quantum entanglement.”

“You could also use it to create a stable fusion reaction.” Catilin added.

“And that all translates to what exactly?” You ask.

“The device they stole can be converted to a neutron bomb.” Harry explains.

“I regret asking.” You mumble.

Barry and Oliver stand in S.T.A.R. Lab’s time vault looking over images of Thawne. Oliver holds Barry, wrapping his arms tightly around the speedster.

“I can’t believe he’s back.” Barry mutters. His voice full of pain and sorrow. “I don’t know if I’ll ever be rid of him.”

“You will. Eventually, he will be gone.” Oliver asserts, doing his best to comfort his fiancée.

“I just keep looking for closure, but every time I see him, all I see is…” Barry trails off and Oliver knows what he means. He sees his mother dying.

“We are going to find him, we’re going to take him down.”

“How do you know?”

“Because you always do. And because I’m not going to let you do it alone.”

It wasn’t long before the team found the Earth-Xers in Danville. Everyone’d split up into 2 teams, one to go after them in Danville and the other to stay at S.T.A.R Labs and run support. You went with Barry, Oliver, Kara, Alex, Sara, and Firestorm to Danville. There was a massive fight against the Earth-X nazi soldiers, Overgirl, and Thawne, while the Dark Arrow went to S.T.A.R Labs. It ended in everyone getting captured, chained up with anti-meta collars to inhibit powers.

“Is everyone alright?” Oliver asks.

“We’re gonna have to work on your definition of alright.” Sara responded.

“Barry? You alright?” Oliver asks, his voice rising just a bit.

“I’m fine, Ollie,” Barry assured. “Are you?”

“I’m pissed.” Oliver grumbles. Thawne walks in, slow-clapping and chuckling to himself.

“Well, here we are. This is fun for me. Not so much for you.” He then looks down at Barry, his smile wide and wicked. “All the times you’ve killed me and now here, all I have to do is kill you once.”

“Enough, Eobard. Enough.” Overgirl interrupts.

“Well done.” Dark Arrow compliments. “S.T.A.R. Labs is secure.”

“If you hurt my friends,” Barry mutters.

“I did hurt your friends.” Dark Arrow cuts the speedster off. “I really enjoyed hurting your friends.”

“Are they alive?” Oliver asks.

“For now. We need your Kara’s cooperation. Well, we don’t need it. It would be preferable. But for the time being, you are more valuable as leverage.”

“What do you want my sister for?” Alex asks.

“To save my life.” Overgirl answers. “That’s your little mission statement, right? Help people, save lives. Well, now's your chance.”

“What… I don’t understand. How can you be dying?” Kara asks.

“Let's just say, I flew too close to the sun.” Her counterpart answers.

“But we can save her.” Dark Arrow asserts. “We’re going to save her, all we need is a new heart. And luckily, on this planet, we found the perfect doner.”

“That’s why you stole the Prism? So you could duplicate a red sun, weaken Kara, and cut into her?” Barry asks.

“Can’t make an omelet with invincible eggs.”

The next time everyone wakes up again, you find yourself in a prison on Earth-X. Or maybe it was something else. It was hard to tell. Everyone still with the anti-meta collars, but now with no idea how to get home.

{Sara} “So this crap hole’s Earth-X?”

{Oliver} “Wells was right.”

{Barry} “He usually is.”

{Alex} “It’s hard to believe this place actually exists, on any earth.”

{Stein} “I wish I shared your sentiment, but in all my travels to distant times, the one thing that sadly remains a constant is man's ability to feel hatred for other men.”

“This is a literal nightmare…” You mutter. The team barely gets a moment to think before there are alarms blaring and guards telling prisoners to step back. Guards demand we stay in line and there isn’t much choice but to listen.

“So these are… the heroes?” A man asks, walking closer.

“Yes, Sturmbannfuehrer.” A guard answers. Sara’s face falls, a combination of shock, disappointment, and despair etched into her features. The man looked exactly like her father. He was definitely this earth's version of him.

“Blond hair, blue eyes, this is Nordic perfection.” He describes. “Why would you align yourself with the impure?” Sara tightens up.

“Because I like men and I like women.” She answers. Her voice firm and strong.

“You know, I had a daughter who looked just like you with similar compulsions.” The man noted. “And I expunged that filth from my family line forever. Bring them all!” He ordered, and guards crowded around, pointing guns, directing the team where to go. They gathered the team along with another person, a stranger who had been in the prison before you’d gotten there. They were bringing you aside to kill you. You stand there in front of nazi soldiers, ready and waiting to shoot. But someone else shoots first. An icy cold blast freezes the nazis and their guns. Everyone turned to face the stranger who’d just saved you only to see Lenord Snart. With his help, everyone was able to briefly escape to the rebel base on Earth-X. The base was located in this earth’s arrow-cave.

“I guess we’re in Earth-X’s Star City.” Oliver noted, looking around this alternate version of his home.

“You still haven’t told us which earth you're from. Clearly, it’s not this one.” Leo noted.

{Barry} “We’re from Earth-1.”

{Leo} “Earth-1 well… golly.”

{Jax} “Am I missing something here?”

“I’m from Earth-1 too.” Rey explained.

“Wait, if you’re from our Earth, do you know how we got here?” You ask.

“I have a pretty good idea.” He said, showing off a schematic of something you couldn’t identify.

“A temporal gateway?” Barry asked, looking it over. Rey nodded.

“So where is this thing?” Oliver asked.

{Leo} “It’s actually not too far from here.”

{Oliver} “Great. Then take us there.”

{Rey} “We can’t do that.”

{Sara} “Why?”

{Rey} “Because the facility it’s in is guarded by a not-so-small army of nazis.”

{Jax} “Yeah, well, we’ve faced worse, so…” He shrugged.

{Barry} “It’s our only way home, we’re going through it.

“Nobody’s going through anything.” A voice asserted. “Because we’re blowing it the hell up.”

“Winn?” Alex said, clearly recognising the stranger.

“Please, Freedom Fighter General Schott.” Leo corrected.

“General Schott?” Alex questioned again.

“Yeah, and who are you?” The general asked.

{Leo} “New friends from Earth-1.”

{Rey} “They’re on our side.”

{Jax} “Except for the part where you guys want to blow up our only way home.”

{Leo} “We don’t exactly want to.

{Barry} “Everyone we care about is on the other side of that gateway, imprisoned by nazis.”

{Alex} “The nazis that wanna cut open my sister. We have to get back.”

{Stein} “Eliminate that facility and you eliminate our only chance of saving our friends from your enemies.

{Winn} “I’m sorry but we’ve been waiting for an opportunity like this for years. We can not wait any longer. This is our only chance to separate the Fuehr from his army. We are trying to turn this war around.”

{Oliver} “You are going to leave our Earth at the mercy of the 3 psychopaths that have ravaged yours.”

{Sara} “Look, fingerless gloves, all we are asking is for a little bit of time. Let us get through that gateway.”

{Leo} “The gateway is guarded by 30 Panzer XIIs, 50 Sturmtigers, and 100 Schutzstaffel officers. Not the best odds, maybe.”

{Alex} “I’ll take ‘em.”

{Winn} “No, you will not. We are blowing up that gateway right now. Final order.” General Schott walked away to make final preparations and Alex followed him to try and buy you some time. You turn to Sara as you so often did. She was your captain on the Waverider, being on another Earth didn’t change that.

“For now, we should rest and recover or do what we can to help here.” She said. You turn to Rey.

“Where are your wounded?” You ask.

“There’s a room back there. Why?” He asks in return.

“I can heal people. I feel like I should do something while I’m here.” You explain. Rey nods and shows you to the room of wounded people. It looked like an army med tent. Full of people with all sorts of injuries and only 2 or 3 nurses rushing around doing what they can to help everyone. One of the nurses comes up to you.

“How can I help you?” She asks.

“I should be asking you that. I’m here to help.” She lets out a sigh, clearly happy to have someone else here to help.

“Just start anywhere. We need all the help we can get.” She quickly walks away to tend to a patient. You move towards the closest person, a young man no more than 18. You rest your hand on their shoulder and he jerks up, his eyes wide and scared.

“I’m here to help.” You assure, your voice calm and steady. “What’s wrong?” The man doesn’t even speak, he just gestures down to his leg. It was bloodied and mangled, as if by a bear trap… or arrows. You move your hand over to the man's wound. As soon as you touch the bloodied leg, your hand starts to glow a brilliant blue. The blood flows away as the skin stitches itself back together. The man is speechless, just watching in awe.

“Is there anything else?” You ask, once the wound is fully healed. He shakes his head.

“Thank you.” He mutters. You just give him a nod and move on to the next bed. You make your way down the beds, healing everyone you could. Eventually, you reach someone covered almost head to toe in bandages.

“What happened to them?” You ask, turning to one of the nurses who, at this point, were all stood around watching.

“One of his experiments went wrong. He’s barely alive.” She explains. “Do you think you can help him?”

“I’m gonna try.” It takes a while and a few rounds, but eventually the man reaches up to pull the bandages off his face. It’s Ray, or it’s Earth-X’s Ray.

“[Y/N]? Is it really you?” He asks, his voice breaking. He reaches up, caressing your cheek. His touch light, as if afraid you’d melt away. “I thought I’d never see you again.” He’s almost crying, and it hurts to interrupt him.

“I’m not… I’m not who you think I am. I’m sorry. I’m from another Earth.” You explain. His hand and face fall.

“Sorry, you just… you look just like him.”

“Sorry to disappoint.” You mutter.

“It’s alright, really, I just thought… hoped you were someone else.” He explained, his face morphing into a somber smile. So similar to the smile you were used to and yet so different.

“Were you two close?” You ask. Ray almost chuckles, letting out a small huff.

“Very. It’s hard to describe what we were, but we were definitely close.” He explains. You just hum and nod, taking it all in.

“Did… what happened to him?”

“They took him. It crushed me. Everyone assumed he died but… I can’t help but hope he’s still out there.” You can’t help but smile softly at that.

“That sounds exactly like the sort of thing you’d do. On my earth, you are the most optimistic person I know.”

“You have a me on your earth?”

“Yeah. Yeah, I do.”

“Are you two… close?” You nod, smiling at the thought of your Ray. All the adventures you’d been on, all the time you spent together, every interaction.

“Definitely.” Ray’s face relaxes a little at that answer.

“Well, it’s good to know that at least on one earth we still have each other.” You can’t help but just smile at this Ray. It seemed like maybe he was going to say more but Sara came in saying there was news.

“We talked to the general and after a lot of arguing, he agreed so…” Rey announced once everyone’d gathered again.

“We’re gonna help you out.” Leo interrupted. Everyone moved into a map room to discuss a proper plan.

“Now, you referenced 100 guards. I assume most of them are around the perimeter? Oliver asked.

{Leo} “Correct.”

{Oliver} “Alright. We fight through them, we access the main corridor. What is security like inside the hangar?”

“I’ll do some recon,” Barry announced before running off. He returned faster than anyone could blink. “So the entire facility has meta-human dampaners.”

{Jax} “Ok, we can’t take that hanger on with no powers. It’s not like we exactly blend in.” Oliver paused, thinking for a moment before it hit him.

“There is someone who does blend in. Me.”

And for the most part, Oliver was right. Every nazi saw his face and cowered, all except one; Captain Quentin Lance. As soon as he knew it wasn’t the Oliver from earth-X, it turned into an all-out brawl. Of course, Oliver was able to take down the surprisingly small number of guards inside the room.

“So how’d it-” Barry trails off, looking around at all the dead or unconscious nazis at Oliver’s feet. “Oh.”

{Oliver} “We have a small problem. The gateway control’s been damaged.”

{Barry} “We can’t turn it on?”

{Oliver} “We can’t turn it on here, but there should be a manual override on the platform.”

{Barry} “So we have to fight our way through?” Oliver nodded in confirmation. “Great.”

“Guys, we have a new problem.” Leo announces through the coms.

“What now?” Barry asks.

“Remember that weapon we convinced the general not to send now. Well, he’s sending it now.”

“Ok, new plan. Barry, Rey, you two, slow down that weapon. The rest of us will fight our way through and open the gateway.” Oliver practically ordered.

And that’s exactly what you did. Fighting your way through nazis to get to the gate and turn off the dammers. It wasn’t going well, half the team didn’t have their powers. Stein decided to make a run for it, moving as fast as he could to the damper. But the nazis were faster. They shot him. It was almost like time stopped, every sound and person fading away except Jax and Stein. Jax’s scream echoing through the room. But Stein wasn’t done. He kept going. In his final moments, he pulled the lever, turning off the meta-human damper. Jax rushed to him, and they merged into Firestorm. It was the only way to get them both out. Over the coms Oliver called to Barry, we could all escape back to our earth but we had to do it quickly. The General’s weapon forgotten, everyone rushed through the gateway to get home.

Getting Stein and Jax onto the Waverider was simple but once they were there Gideon announced that the bullet wounds were killing them both. The only way to save Jax was to let Stein die.

That was the last hiccup, though. Once the team was reassembled and everyone had something to fight for, you made quick work of the nazi invaders with no more casualties.

It was Stein’s funeral. Of course for him, it wasn’t extravagant or fancy. It’s not what he wanted. There weren’t many people there either. Of course, all the Legends made it along with Clarisa and Lilly. Everyone standing around his grave. This wasn’t a funeral for Firestorm; it was for Martin Stein. Jax stood in front of everyone to say something.

“Clarisa wanted me to say a few words, but as you all know, it was Grey, Martin who was the wordy one. I got used to hearing his voice inside my head. And even now, I can still hear him. ‘Cause even though he’s gone, he’s still a part of me. He’s still a part of all of us. He was the best man right up until the end.” The more Jax spoke, the more his voice broke. “The best teacher. Friend. Husband. Father. I’m just so sorry I couldn’t save him.” Jax was crying now, walking back to the rest of the team. Clarisa embraced him, holding him tightly. She might have been the only other person to truly understand what it meant to lose Stein. Jax and Stein were bound as Firestorm for years, literally living in each other's minds.

Barry and Oliver’s wedding had been pretty sufficiently ruined so they decided just to get it over with quickly. They went to a church and quickly said their vows and were married. Certainly, the most eventful wedding any superhero would ever have.
