Work Text:
It was almost done. Boomie was going to kill Kantje, then he would find and kill Onion, that’s all he needs to do. Kantje was on the ground bleeding out, all it would take was, one. more. stab.
Boomie approached Kantjes prone form and prepared to drive his blade through Kantjes heart. Kantje tried to crawl back. “B-Boomie please, I’m your friend. Please, you don’t have to do this” Kantje said pleadingly his voice cracking with desperation as tears welled up in his eyes.
Boomie stopped in front of Kantje and raised his sword, as he drove his blade down aiming for Kantjes heart, when suddenly he froze, the tip of his sword stopped right before he hit Kantje.
Kantje loooked up at Boomie paralyzed by fear on the ground, he wanted to say something but was afraid it would snap Boomie out of his trance and cause Boomie to kill him.
Boomie stood frozen his hands shaking as he looked at Kantje with confusion. Boomie took a shaky step backwards, and dropped his sword on the ground beside him. Boomie needs to kill Kantje… so why does he have such a strong urge to not kill him? Boomie staggers backwards and puts a hand on his heart, why does it feel like my heart is being stabbed at the thought of Kantje dying?
Kantje realizes he’s no longer about to die and carefully sits up and stares at Boomie with a mix of worry and confusion. Suddenly Boomies head snaps up and he stares at Kantje like hes analyzing him.
Then Boomie looked to his portal out and set the portal to where Mark is. “Leave.” Boomie said, his voice void of emotion.
“W-What?” Kantje stuttered out confused. Wasn’t Boomie just trying to kill me?
“I don’t know why… But I physically can’t bring myself to kill you. I may not remember who you are, or what you are to me, but I can’t kill you. So leave. I won’t try to kill Onion either…. One day we’ll see each other again… Perhaps then I’ll have my answers…” Boomie said as he stared at Kantje with mixed emotions.
Kantje stood up and ran over to the portal, just before he went through he turned back and looked at Boomie, “Thank you Boomie” Kantje said earnestly. “You won’t regret this, and I’m sorry you died, I'll probably never get to tell you this, if I don't do it now… We never meet at the right times… perhaps things will be better next time” Kantje said taking one final look at what was probably the youngest Boomie he’ll ever meet, a version so different from the one that sacrificed himself for Kantje, then he went through the portal to confront Mark.
Boomie simply watched as Kantje left, one thought echoing in his mind, I may not remember you… but my heart does… the hurt i felt when I was about to kill you… the care I seem to have for you… those are not emotions that can be faked easily. I will wait for the day… I call you my friend again.
