"baby, where are you going? What.. What time is it anyways?"
Taku grunted as he leaned up from the bed, not taking his eyes off Nanae who was standing near the doorway of their shared bedroom.
"Honey, I.. Uhm, was going to check up on Maria, she has been having some nightmares lately so I just wanted to make sure she was alright." She seemed startled to see him awake, it was obvious that she didn't intend to wake him up.
"C'mere...she's fine, don't worry 'bout it,
it's way too early anyways, don't you have a show today? You gotta get your beauty sleep."
"I.. I just want to make sure, I can't sleep without knowing she's completely okay." Nanae insisted
"C'mon, get back to bed, I'll check up on her if it's that important to ya, I don't want you fucking up all your tricks at the circus and shit, you need rest."
"Taku, it's fine, I'll check up on her." Her voice was laced with more frustration and annoyance than usual... Was she. Mad at Taku? Actually mad over something as silly as this?
"Babe, you can talk to me if you need to—no need to get all snappy and shit." He argued back
"Babe. Seriously, I'm going to check up on her." The contortionist said firmly
this wasn't normal, she doesn't behave like this unless she's...
Hiding something.
"You said you weren't going to keep secrets anymore..." He muttered under his breath
"Not... Not after you tried killing me."
His voice was shakey, laced with concern. what the hell was she doing this time? Why is she being all secretive like this? His head filled with worried questions until Ouno started tearing up.
she couldn't hold it back any longer, her emotions were piling up, and she blurted out
"That's the reason I'm so upset! I..i tried murdering you, and I can just marry you and live happily without any punishment...?"
Before she could even catch her breath, she continued
"A-and, I just feel so.. Awful about it, Iyou were so kind to me, and I still tried...i still tried to murder you." She blurted out, with tears running down her cheeks, guilt written all over her face.
She dug her face into Taku's chest, and pulled him into a hug, getting his shirt wet from all the tears.
The archer gently wiped away her tears, and he spoke
"Do you remember what I promised at our wedding?"
He took a deep breath
"I promised I would let nobody hurt you again—I'm not going to fuckin' shame you for trying to get back to your daughter, OUR daughter, when I know it would hurt your feelings."
"Honestly, I would've done the same damn thing, I love Maria just as much as you do, and not to mention, it was 6 fucking years ago! I don't hold grudges, babe."
The contortionist began crying again, this time, out of happiness and pure joy.
"Taku, I love you so much... What could I ever do without you?"
"Could say the same 'bout you."
