Well that was not supposed to happen.
That is all Robby can think as he stands in the mirror looking in his reflection. Razor in one hand, he rubs his other hand down the side of his face where there is a chunk of hair missing from his beard. It happened quickly, he was shaving and trimming as he usually does but his hand slipped from a twitch. As quick as the hair was there, it was gone.
With a sigh, he moves to do something he hasn’t done in ten, maybe fifteen, years. Shave his beard off fully. He’d done it once, only once. A fully shaven face that felt unnatural as he’d had a beard since the beginning of his residency. ‘I guess I can keep the mustache.’ Robby sighs. After a few minutes and a quick face wash, Robby was a new man. Sort of.
He rubs down his face once more, feeling the smooth skin along his cheek and chin. Now he has to sit and wait to see Dennis’ reaction. Dennis loves his beard, he loves to run his hands through it and loves to rub his face against it (‘You’re acting like a cat!’ Robby had once said), this’ll be a big change for his boyfriend. He grabs his phone and decides to text the man in question.
Robby: Hi sweetheart. I have a surprise for you when you get home.
He responds a few minutes later, he had gone out with Trinity, Mel, Victoria and Samira.
Dennis: hii! is it a ciol surprise?
Robby laughs at his obvious drunk typing followed by a string of heart emojis.
Robby: Maybe? I love you and get home safe.
Samira is not drinking tonight and she offered to give him a ride home, Robby was happy to pick up Dennis but now he’d get to make Dennis some good food to eat once home. He put his phone down and got to work with cooking for Dennis.
Around three hours later, he has pasta sitting in the fridge waiting for Dennis while he sits on the couch reading a book. A jingling doorknob alerts him to Dennis getting home. The door pushes open and he hears stumbling with the door shutting.
“Honey, I’m home!” Dennis calls out with a giggle. Robby laughs, standing up to greet his boyfriend.
When the younger man rounds the corner to the living room, he smiles big as he runs over to hug Robby. Robby sways back as the man slams into his arms. Robby kisses the top of his head. Dennis leans back, ready to kiss Robby but he stops short with a loud gasp and a stumble back.
“Your face?!” He practically yells. “Who are you?!”
Robby laughs. “I’m Robby!” He yells back, laughing louder as Dennis rubs his hands along the bare skin of Robby’s cheeks. He starts to hold back his laugh as he sees Dennis’ eyes begin to well up with tears. “Are you about to cry, мышь (Mysh’)? What’s wrong?”
“Your beard… it’s gone…” Dennis sniffled out. “You’re still handsome and stuff but like… I liked your beard.” His sentence trails off as a tear falls from his eyes. He continues to rub along Robby’s face, squeezing his cheeks to pucker his lips and lay a kiss onto his lips. “You have a pornstache now…” He giggles. “
Well…” Robby kisses Dennis’ lips again. “I don’t know how to fix this.” He shrugs as he motions towards his face. Dennis shakes his head and pulls Robby to land kisses all over his face. He rubs his face along the now clean-shaven cheeks, much like he would when there was hair there.
“You don’t have to, I like you any way you look.” Dennis boops his nose and giggles, stumbling back out of his arms to drag him to the couch.
Robby doesn’t budge, “We are going to the kitchen, I made you food because I know you drank more than you ate.”
Dennis squeals, “You know me well! I love you!” He jumps to run to the kitchen. Robby shakes his head lovingly as he follows after him.
“I love you, мышь (Mysh’).”
