No one checks the library

Summary:

When WY wakes up in an empty school long after the final bell, the last person she expects to find is Northern Cyprus. Trapped together in silent hallways and snow-darkened corridors, the two are forced to rely on each other to find a way out—whether they like it or not.

Chapter Text

Wy woke up startled, because she couldn’t see anyone around. Normally the classroom was always full of noise and chaos, but now there was no one. She was still a bit groggy from just waking up, but she stood up. Was the class P.E.? Had they gone out to the yard? But why would they have class outside in this snow?

She left the classroom and stepped into the hallway. She panicked at the sight before her—it was empty as well. She began to wander around: classrooms, hallways… There was no one anywhere. Finally, she entered the library, and then she saw someone. She could have cried from happiness.

“Hey!” Just as she was about to touch the person’s shoulder, they turned their head. The face was familiar. It was Northern Cyprus.

Wy’s expression fell. Great. She couldn’t stand that guy. In her eyes, he was an egotistical jerk. Wy pulled her hand back and crossed her arms.

Northern Cyprus sighed. “What?”

“Are you aware that we’re the only ones left in the school?”

Northern Cyprus nodded and returned to his book. Wy was starting to get even more irritated. “Hey! Look at me!” She snatched the book from his hands. He looked at her, clenched his fist, but then sighed. He put on his usual monotonous expression. “When I woke up a while ago, there was no one either. Looks like we missed the dismissal time. It’s strange they didn’t notice you.”

“So it’s normal that they didn’t notice you?” Wy rolled her eyes and crossed her arms again. Northern Cyprus spoke. “No one checks the library.”

It was a valid reason. Wy agreed internally, but she wasn’t about to tell him he was right.

“Then where’s the administration? I thought they left later than the students.”

“They already leave late. Did you check the time?” Wy looked at the analog clock on the wall. Seven?! No wonder it was dark outside. How many hours had she slept like that?! Ugh—now that she thought about it, she could feel her lower back aching.

“My god, they must have given us some kind of pills or something…”

Northern Cyprus only nodded. He stood up and looked at her. “Eh… I don’t think so. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t sleep last night anyway.”

“Why?”

“My dad’s annoying relatives came over. They’re really loud.”

Wy snickered, rolled her eyes, and rested a hand on her hip. “Sounds like a valid reason.” Then she remembered the situation they were in. “Oh no—forget that! We need to get home.” She took out her phone, but there was no signal. Great.

Northern Cyprus’s phone didn’t have signal either; he had already tried earlier. “Don’t worry, someone will eventually realize we’re missing…”

“Yeah, yeah… you’re right.” Wy took a deep breath. “We need to stay calm…”

“I am calm already—”

“SHUT UP!”

Northern Cyprus sighed and shrugged. “Don’t yell. There’s no one to hear you anyway.”

“I didn’t ask you whether I should yell or not. Whatever. Get up.” She crossed her arms over her chest. Northern Cyprus frowned slightly. “And why would I?”

“Because we’re going to find an exit, that’s why.”
