It was one week after the new recruitment of the Survey Corps. Armin in the Commander’s office helping the Commander to distribute the documents as a new member to others. Erwin stood in front of his desk to put the documents in Armin’s hands. The pile was up to half the face of Armin’s. Erwin decided, “I’ll send another to help you distribute the documents.”
“I-i can, Commander,” Armin tried to balance the pile of documents on his hands.
Erwin asked with slight doubt at the petite new member of Survey Corps, “Are you sure?”
“Ye- Waaa!” Armin lost his balance. Those documents were flying from his hands. Erwin’s sight was covered by the papers flying when he stepped closer and hands reached out to help Armin steady. Apparently, his hands landed on Armin’s waist. He holds them firmly so the boy doesn't fall on the desk behind them.
“So-sorry, Commander Erwin,” Armin flustered with his own clumsiness.
Erwin said, “It’s fine.”
Armin looked up and Erwin looked down, their body was quite close in a promising position. The younger blond panicked and tried to create distance between them by taking a step away, “Sorr–” Yet, his clumsiness made him lose balance again and Erwin didn’t expect that so he fell along with Armin on top of him.
Both blue eyes widened when they realized what just happened.
Erwin laid on his back. Armin on top of him. Documents around them and their lips accidently kiss. Before they could react, they heard the door open and a surprise gasp. Both snapped their eyes on the door to find Hange and Levi there.
Armin paled, he stuttered, “I-it’s not wha—”
“Well, well, well,” Hange grinned with a mischievous twinkle on those eyes. “You two kissing! Since when you two dating?!”
Hange accused, “Erwin! Why do you never tell us?”
“No—” Erwin tried to explain. The same time, Armin blushed did the same thing, “We are not—”
Hange grinned, “Cut it out, you two. We won’t tell anyone if you want it as a secret.”
Erwin and Armin denied it again. Levi challenged, “We just saw you two kissing with our own fucking eyes.”
“That’s—”
Hange asked, “Have you two told Eren yet? Or Mikasa?”
Levi asked, “That mushroom head is Eren’s friend?”
Eren suddenly poked his head, “You’re calling me, Corporal Levi? I just passed this room with Mikasa." True to his words, Mikasa went inside after Eren. Both of them were shocked at the sight of their childhood friend on top of the Commander on the floor, “A-armin?”
Levi asked, “Eren, that mushroom head is your friend?”
Hange announced, “Levi, Armin is not that mushroom head but he is our Commander’s sweet little darling!”
“We are not—” Armin and Erwin said at the same time.
Eren was shocked beyond words. Mikasa understood the situation. Hange explained the denial reason, “They want to keep this secret.”
“No-nothing is going on between me and Commander,” Armin declared a bit louder.
Levi asked, “You mean that kiss which Hange and I saw when we opened the door is nothing? Are you saying this is just a fling between you two? One time thing?”
“What?” Eren scowled at the notion his friend is just plaything. “Armin? Is that true? Are you okay with that?”
Mikasa felt the same protectiveness Eren had, “Armin won’t be okay being just a plaything. He is too kind for that kind of game.”
Eren and Mikasa glared at Erwin. Commander said cautiously, “It is not what it looks like.”
“What do you mean it’s not what it looks like?” Eren insisted. Mikasa deduced, “Are you going to toss Armin away after you’re done with him?”
“Wha—” Armin gaped.
Eren added, “Armin has no family. He is our best friend but he is like a brother to me and Mikasa, Commander. We will stand by him if you hurt him.”
Those words would warm Armin’s heart if he was not in this situation.
Hange smiled, “Erwin will take good care of Armin no matter what. Eren, Mikasa. Don’t worry about that.”
Levi agreed, “ He is that loyal.”
Somehow they believed and went out of the room. They left the blond ‘couple’ alone.
“They assume we—” Erwin looked at the door being close. Armin did the same, “—are dating…?”
