"Chrono." Kizashi said, surprisingly flatly.
Curious to see what had the octobomb majik so unenthusiastic, Chrono turned to come face to face with a pouting Kizashi. Their cheeks were puffed out and their lips stuck out in a moue. His expressions were so animated, so it was almost always easy to read Kizashi… Almost. Chrono knew he'd been tricked before by Kizashi's sunny disposition, hiding how perceptive they could truly be. Though most of that perception seemed to go all in on noticing everything about Chrono, from the most obvious things to the subtlest changes, to even things they wanted to hide.
"Kizashi." Chrono said back.
Pale blue lips pursed out even further, distorting the next words out of Kizashi's mouth, "That thing you do with the human…"
"Minerva." Chrono corrected.
"Yeah, yeah, the human. That thing she does where you touch mouths like this," he pointed at his lips, "What is that?"
Ah, so Kizashi must've been trying to mimic the way Minerva's mouth puckered up when she kissed him.
"It's a kiss."
Kizashi's eyes went wide, processing the new word for a second, then scrunching back up at the unfamiliarity of it.
"Why does she do it?"
"It's a sign of intimacy for humans."
Kizashi's whole face lit up in a big grin, "Oh, oh, oh! So if I do it with you, then that means we're intimate, too!"
Chrono wasn't one to get flustered often. But Kizashi somehow always knew how to throw them off kilter.
"I didn't think you wanted to be intimate with me in any other way besides violence."
"Hmm, well, I see the stuff you two do and it makes you happy. And even if I still don't like that human and the baby for what they did, I wanna do stuff that makes you happy, too."
Chrono blinked owlishly. They hadn't thought of that. Kisses with Minnie always were romantic, loving. He guessed they could just be a gesture of friendship, since Kizashi didn't seem to harbor romantic feelings, at least not in the way Chrono was familiar with romance. No, Kizashi simply had that all consuming obsession and possessiveness over them.
Kizashi stuck his arms out towards Chrono, wiggling them as if wanting to grab him. As if he didn't have long tentacles that could just as easily reach out and grab Chrono.
As if he wanted to make himself seem "more human" to make Chrono like him more, despite his distaste for most humans besides Ichi and his friends.
With a conflicted feeling tightening in his throat, Chrono bent down slightly to pick up one of Kizashi's tentacles. The tip immediately wrapped around Chrono's fingers, but stopped short of how it wanted to slither forward more. After a moment's hesitation, the tentacle greedily slid its way up his arm, tangling around him and yanking him forward until he stepped into Kizashi's embrace.
Kizashi squeezed him tight for a moment, then hesitantly, as if he couldn't bear to let him go— truly he never could— they slowly loosened their grip so they could move their hands up to tenderly cradle Chrono's face in their palms.
"Kiss?" He asked, eyes half lidded and gazing longingly up at Chrono, pursing his lips at them cutely.
Chrono felt his own lips press together, but more in thought rather than with intent to kiss Kizashi. Did they really want to become that intimate with—
"Mwah," Kizashi made the decision for them, smacking their lips wetly together.
"Hehe," they giggled, "I think I like that. Again, again!" he demanded, grip on Chrono's face quickly turning tight and possessive.
Chrono's lips quirked up in the barest hint of a smile. While it would get tiresome that Kizashi would be obsessively demanding kisses now, they liked it, as well. Maybe being this intimate with Kizashi was simply the next step in their relationship.
