A few concepts I thought if I were to write the story:
Furina being a representation of envy herself.
While I was reading a few stories using Genshin Impact characters, a lot of people seem to relate the archons to the seven deadly sins. While it was a bit blurry when connecting which sin to which archon, (example: Raiden Ei / Belzebub representing gluttony or pride) I do see Furina representing the sin of envy (with the Oceanids wanting to become humans and angering the heavenly principals in the process). With Re:zero being around the Witch of Envy implying to have given Subaru ‘Return by Death’, I stand for it to be a good connection between the characters. However, I could be wrong in why and how Furina may be chosen since I have only watched the anime of Re:zero and have difficulty with reading characters’ exposition. Forgive me if I do so and critique me later on.
Focalors being present though out the story.
While, yes Focalors had killed herself using the trial and the Oratrice Mecanique d'Analyse Cardinale to destroy the hydro throne, I would like to think she had just became stuck with the rest of the witches in Echidna’s tea party area where Subaru originally met them. Another plan would have been to change when they had transmigrated to Lugnica to during the execution at the last moment. Then Focalors would just appear to Furina to give her advice, or to be made into a more prominent character.
I had other ideas regarding Focalors and Furina, such as Focalors taking over Furina when she is overwhelmed or Furina simply being controlled by Focalors against her will.
However, I feel that Focalors would just be another Satella being thta it was implied Focalors loved Furina.
Again I may be wrong, so just take it with a single grain of salt.
Giving Furina ‘Return by Death’.
This was a bit of a doozy. While i definitely wanted them to have the Return by Death’ ability, how I wanted it to work was a bit more difficult. If I just wanted Furina as the only character, it would have been simple with her being given it as per normal. However, if I wanted to use both Furina and Focalors for the plot, I was conflicted. The main idea was to either let both Furina and Focalors be able to use ‘Return by Death’ or only have Focalors control ‘Return by Death’, which at some point I contemplated just giving Focalors the ability to rewind time. I have a lot of ideas since this story wasn’t very concrete but it’s just my thoughts on it, what does it matter ?
Relationships between characters.
In the original story of Re:zero, Satella loved Subaru which was why he was chosen. But by using Furina as a stand in for Subaru, it felt like I wanted to make its so that Furina had feelings for Emilia. I’m not against it, just looking at all the routes I can take, or just give up and make Furina Bisexual (I can imagine that to be an actual possibility ). I got the idea from someone who had made a similar idea of mine using Shenhe as a stand in of Subaru, which I had enjoyed reading through. As for other relationships regarding Subaru such as Rem, I don’t know, again I’m not making is into a story yet, just a concept to be used by others or until I feel like it.
Plot holes, and quite a lot of them I must say.
Since this story is still in development or a concept, there is definitely be a lot of plot holes to be filled. I would try and walk around them in my opinion.
Conclusion.
Case in point, I wanted there to be a story that puts Furina in the world of Re:zero and to see where that will go. I had only thought properly until the mansion arc, but I don’t know how it will go. I may update this on how I want the rest of the story to go. I would rather make a story board to see where I would like to take the story than just write and hope for the best only to get stuck with writer’s block. Trust me, I have seen that happen to many and even you may be having writer’s block right now. I hope that if any of you have writer’s block will get over it. I hate it when work is left unfinished.
Anyway, with that said and done, I hope you had the same thoughts I did when I was thinking about Re:zero and Genshin Inpact at the same time.
One more thing before I go.
I hope that the Furina trend never goes down.
Though I have been seeing it of the late.
Basically I love Furina and I am dying on this hill, and I hope you join me as well.
