Today was a busy and exciting day in the Dollhouse, as always. Gabby seemed to bring joy and positivity wherever she went, really. There was nothing that could upset that girl. And there wasn’t anything that could upset the gabby cats, either. Every day was filled with fun and laughter!
But eventually, nighttime came. It wasn’t hard to get everyone to sleep, as they were all tired from today’s adventures, of course. However, little did the others know, that Mercat and Pillow Cat had planned on having a little “sleepover” together tonight. Nothing intimate or romantic, but just two friends getting together over the night. Two close friends.

Mercat looked at herself in the mirror in the bathroom before she left to go to the bedroom. Seeing that she looked fine, she went to the catavator and pressed the button to the bedroom.
She waited and stood patiently as the elevator music played and rode up to the bedroom. With a ding, the doors opened and Mercat stepped out into the bedroom. She didn’t see Pillow Cat. Strange…
“Pillow Cat?” She called out. She could slightly make out a silhouette from within the bed behind the curtains, and then a familiar voice suddenly rang out from in them. “Rainbow Curtains, open up!” And the multicolored curtains around the bed opened, revealing none other than Pillow Cat behind them, smiling playfully and rolling over to her. “Hi Mercat! I’m so glad you came!” She says cheerfully. Mercat giggles and nods. “Shimmering sea scales, Pillow Cat! You scared me! I didn’t know where you were!”
Pillow Cat chuckles and sits up. “Right here, silly! I was waiting for you!” Mercat smiles at her and replies; “So, what exactly did you wanna do that you had to bring me over here for?” She asks curiously.
“Oh, well… I was just thinking we could catch up and chat! Maybe watch a movie or play some games, like a sleepover!” She answers. What Mercat didn’t know was that Pillow Cat had a crush on her. For a long time, actually. The way that Mercat always seemed to have everything together, her makeup always perfect, knew tons about beauty and spa treatment, it was all just so pretty to Pillow Cat. Nobody else knows about her crush except Gabby, of course.
“Oh, Ok! Sounds fun!” Mercat responded casually. Pillow cat smiled and rolled over to the drawers below the bed, pulling out some board games and CDs for Movies. “I have Uno, Monopoly, Operation, and some movies too!” Pillow Cat shows, spreading them all out in front of Mercat. “This all looks paw-some, Pillow Cat! We can start with.. playing Uno?” Mercat suggested. Pillow cat perked up and nodded quickly. “Yeah! I love that game!” Pillow cat said as she took out the cards and began to shuffle them in her paws.

A few minutes after, they’re in a heated game. Pillow Cat and Mercat are both almost out of cards. Once it’s her turn, Pillow Cat quickly puts her paw down on the deck. “Uno!” She says, giggling. “Nice going, Pillow Cat! You’re cat-tastic at this!” Mercat tells her enthusiastically. She smiles and her heart warms. Even a small compliment over a game makes Pillow Cat blush. Mercat pretends she doesn’t notice.
They move onto playing Monopoly now, the Uno cards put away and back in their box, with the Monopoly board out on the floor now.

After a while of playing, Mercat wins this time and Pillow Cat goes bankrupt in the game. “Aw.. guess I spent too much money!” Pillow Cat says embarrassedly. Mercat chuckles and cheers her up. “That’s ok! You did great!” Pillow Cat smiles and tries to hide her face, putting the Monopoly parts away. “Yeah-! Do you.. wanna watch a movie now?” She asks softly. Mercat nods and grabs one of the CDs. “Of course!” She replies, moving and putting the CD in the TV.
*“Now’s my chance,”* Pillow Cat says to herself in her head. *”Tell her at the right moment during the movie..”*
Pillow Cat clears her throat and speaks up. “Do you wanna- um, lay up here with me in the bed?” She asks hesitantly. *”Please say yes, please say yes…”*
“Oh, I’d love to!” Mercat says, sitting in bed near Pillow Cat. Pillow Cat’s tail was swishing rapidly behind her, and she hid it under a blanket. Both of them were mostly quiet as the movie went on. Until a romantic moment where the characters kiss came on. Pillow Cat’s cue.
“Hey, uh.. Mercat?” She says, looking over at her. Mercat looks back curiously. “Yeah? What is it?” She asks. Pillow Cat stammers at first and stutters, ultimately deciding that now wasn’t the time. “..Nothing. Just seeing if you were still awake.” She answers. There goes that.
Mercat seems confused and doesn’t believe it, but she goes along with it for now, turning and continuing to watch the movie.

She decided she’ll wait until the movie’s over. As the credits rolled, she pressed her paw on the remote and turned it off, rolling over to the light switch and turning her night lights on, heading back over to the bed.
“I’ve enjoyed this, Pillow Cat! It was fun.” Mercat says as she gets comfortable under the covers. “Yeah.. but.. there’s a specific reason I asked you to have a sleepover.”
Mercat’s eyes widen and she looks confused. “Oh? What’s that?” She asks. Now was the moment. No backing out now. “Do you.. promise you’ll keep it secret?” Pillow Cat says. Mercat nods firmly, assuring her. “O-Ok, well… Mercat I.." Pillow Cat started. Mercat waited patiently for her to say what was on her mind.
“I love you.” Pillow Cat says finally, her heart pounding in her chest and her tail going still. Mercat’s heart skipped a beat and she gasped at the revelation. “You.. you do?” She asked.
“Yes.. for a while, actually. You’re just.. so kind and pretty, and I-“
But before she could finish, Mercat shushed her and pulled her face to hers, closing the gap and pressing their lips together. They stayed like this for a moment before pulling away. “I’m so glad you said that, Pillow Cat. Because I love you too.” Mercat told her. Pillow Cat smiles and her tail gently sways behind her. “Well… I can roll with that.” She says playfully. Mercat giggles and kisses her softly again.
The two cats lay there, not as friends, but as something more now. Neither of them knew how long they’d keep it secret, but they would tell the others eventually.
For now, they just layed near eachother with something new set in place. And that was enough.
