Work Text:
“May I ask you something?”
You look up from your paper. Ford’s cheeks are bright pink.
“You can ask me anything,” you say, putting down your pencil.
“Have you… ever been in a relationship?” Ford asks, ears turning red.
Cute.
“Yeah,” you answer.
Ford swallows. “What was it like?”
“It was okay, I guess.” You’re not sure how much detail to give. Best to keep it simple.
“I see.”
Silence.
“Why do you ask?” You quirk your eyebrow.
“I was just wondering what it’s like.”
“You’ve never been in a relationship?” you ask, genuinely surprised.
Ford shakes his head, averting his eyes.
“Why not?”
“I wasn’t really… desired, back home,” Ford murmurs.
“That’s stupid,” you say bluntly.
Ford twists his head to look at you. “What?”
“That’s stupid. You’re great,” you insist.
“N-No, not really. I’m awkward, and weird, and nerdy, and my hands…” he trails off.
“You don’t have the slightest clue how people feel about nerdy guys,” you say, rolling your eyes. “The general consensus now is that they’re really cute. And forget about your hands. That’s just more of you to love.”
You see Ford try to suppress a smile.
A moment of silence passes, so you go back to your paper, picking up where you left off.
“What does kissing feel like?”
Now it’s your turn to whip your head around. “Excuse me?”
Ford quickly picks up his own pencil and starts writing on his paper. “Never mind.”
“It feels… soft,” you say. “Warm, if it’s not winter. But winter kisses are nice, too.”
“And… what if you do it with tongue?” Ford asks. You barely hear the question.
“Wet.” It’s the only descriptor you can think of.
You see Ford’s shoulders go up a little. His face shifts slightly.
“You don’t like the sound of that, do you,” you say, more an observation than a question.
He shakes his head. “Thinking about it makes me want to vomit.”
“You don’t need to kiss with tongue.”
“I didn’t think it was necessary. I just… I know it’s common and possibly expected.”
Your next question comes out without thinking. “Do you want to try kissing me?”
Ford’s mouth opens, then closes. “E-Excuse me?”
“It doesn’t need to be with tongue. Just so you know what a kiss feels like.”
His eyes flicker around the room. He’s silent for a moment, then he sighs. “Y-Yes, I’d like to.”
You turn your body in your chair to face him completely. “Alright. Let’s do it, then.”
He turns to face you as well, and you can see his hands shaking slightly.
“Um… can you hold your breath? I kind of have a thing about people breathing on me,” Ford asks shyly, like it’s a big request.
“I can do that,” you say. It’s not a big request at all.
He visibly relaxes. “Thank you.”
You nod. “Of course.”
Ford closes his eyes. “Okay, I’m ready.”
You inhale, then hold it in your lungs. Leaning forward slowly, your eyes close too, then…
Your lips touch his.
You make sure to be gentle, how you would want your first kiss to be, if you were Ford. His lips are warm and soft. Very enjoyable.
You lean back, opening your eyes. Ford looks stunned.
At your first inhale after the kiss, you catch a small scent. “Cherry?”
“It’s Monday,” Ford says, as if it’s obvious. At your silence, he clarifies. “On Mondays, I have to use cherry. Lip balm, I mean. Tuesdays are regular, Wednesdays are orange, Thursdays are cola-”
“That’s so cute,” you interrupt him.
That catches him off guard. “You don’t think it’s weird?”
You chuckle. “No, I like that. Variety is the spice of life.”
You both smile at each other.
“Was there anything else you wanted to try?”
Ford blinks, and his face flushes. “Well, there is this one thing…”
