Work Text:
Hyuntak woke up, feeling Juntae stirring beside him, pressing their bodies even closer together, as if that were possible. He looked down, staring at the other boy's face, which was frowning and his mouth slightly open as he muttered something. Gotak laughed softly.
He glanced out the window, watching the white expanse covering the street, and smiled. It was Christmas week, they were both finally on break from college and they could spend the holidays together, stuck together as one, as Gotak liked to say. He moved, trying to get out of his boyfriend's arms, but felt Juntae let out another grumble and squeeze even tighter against him.
“Sweetheart…” Gotak called, getting no response, which resulted in a chuckle. “Jun-a, we need to get up.”
Juntae stirred, opening his eyes, trying to adjust his vision to the light. He came face to face with Gotak staring at him, the boy's eyes following him as if they belonged to a fox.
“Good morning, babe.” Juntae replied with a smile, raising his fingers to Gotak's cheek.
Gotak smiled tenderly, before remembering the elaborate plans for today. Since they were teenagers, Christmas had been one of Juntae's favorite times of year. He liked throwing snowballs at his friends, the huge decorations that made the streets sparkle, baking cookies and bringing them to his friends, and those sweaters, which Gotak personally thought were horrible.
But this was the first Christmas week they would spend living together, and so far, the only thing they had done was put up a tiny Christmas tree, because it was the only one that fit their budget.
So, if it were up to Gotak, he would give Juntae everything he liked today. He stretched, feeling Juntae's eyes follow his movements, before going to the bathroom.
He washed his face and brushed his teeth, quickly making room for his boyfriend to do the same, already knowing that it would take him a few more minutes due to his skincare routine. Gotak immediately ran to the closet, grabbing the box he had hidden and placing it on the bed, hurrying to put on the red sweater just as Juntae opened the bathroom door.
“Surprise!” he said as soon as Juntae's face appeared.
The boy stared at him for a few minutes, adjusting his glasses as if he couldn't believe the scene in front of him, before breaking into the brightest smile Gotak had seen in the last few minutes. He saw Juntae's eyes wander down his body, observing every detail of the red sweater, covered in small white deer designs.
“I thought you hated them!” Juntae said as he approached the taller man, running his hand over the clothes.
“And I do. A little.” Gotak replied, before smiling and handing Juntae a package. “This one’s yours.
Juntae jumped up, before snatching the box from his hand and sitting down on the bed. As he took out the white sweater with red deer on it, his smile grew wider – Gotak felt like the boy's cheeks were going to explode, which would be terrible – and he quickly put it on.
“It's beautiful!” Juntae stared at the sweatshirt, delighted. “And they match, Taka-a.”
Gotak smiled and nodded, indicating that it was obvious. He had spent at least a week searching for couples' sweaters until he found these two options. He couldn't help but laugh when he saw his boyfriend taking a picture and sending it to someone – probably Sieun.
But as fascinated as Juntae seemed to be with the two sweaters and as much as he wanted to continue admiring him, he still had plans for the day. Gotak approached the smaller boy, pulling him out of the room and, using his hands to cover Juntae's eyes, guided them to the kitchen.
“What are you doing?” Juntae asked, curiosity in his voice.
Instead of answering, Gotak simply removed his hand from the boy's eyes, revealing the living room table covered with various kitchen items, such as Christmas tree and Santa Claus-shaped cookie cutters and a few jars of ingredients. He blinked before looking at his boyfriend, confused but smiling.
“What are you up to?”He asked.
Gotak approached Juntae, hugging him around the waist.
“Hmm, I wanted to make our first Christmas in our special home special,” he replied.
Juntae just smiled before throwing his arms around his neck and covering his face with kisses. They exchanged a few kisses before Juntae looked at him curiously.
“Who did you ask for help? You're terrible in the kitchen,” Juntae said, and Gotak couldn't disagree.
He had relied on Sieun's help to gather all the ingredients because, incredible as it seemed, the boy was very good in the kitchen. He and Juntae were always in charge on game nights. The most complicated part had been getting Sieun to keep the surprise a secret, since they always told each other everything.
But after Gotak promised he wouldn't ruin any cookies—something Juntae and Sieun took very seriously—he agreed to help him.
“For our Sieun, of course,” Gotak replied, rolling his eyes playfully.
Juntae laughed a little more before letting him go completely and walking over to the table, placing his hands on his hips. Gotak walked over to him, watching his face.
“Well, Mr. Juntae, shall we begin?” Gotak said, receiving an affirmative nod from his boyfriend.
After Juntae tidied up the counter a little, they settled in, with Juntae in the center giving directions while Gotak attentively followed each step.
To be honest, Gotak wasn't very good at cooking, but he really enjoyed watching Juntae cook. The way he furrowed his eyebrows or stuck out the tip of his tongue when he tried to concentrate was charming. And, of course, he would say that one of his favorite hobbies was watching everything Juntae did.
“Stop staring at me, Taka-ah. You're distracting me.” He heard Juntae's voice, causing him to roll his eyes affectionately.
He took flour, eggs and milk, passed them to Juntae, and just watched the boy mix everything together before putting it into small molds of different shapes. Gotak tried to keep a straight face, as if this were serious work, but Juntae beside him laughed and sighed.
“Your turn.” Juntae said suddenly. “You have to do it too.”
The smaller boy handed him an empty bowl, waiting for him to put everything in it, and Gotak looked at him anxiously. Of course, he wasn't going to break the pot, nor did he expect Juntae to get angry if that happened, but he was anxious about doing something wrong.
“Relax,” Juntae said.
After many hours, with lots of laughter coming from both boys and Gotak ending up with a little dough on his face, they had finally finished the dough part and were now cutting the cookies with the decorated shapes. They had already made a considerable amount, so they were almost done.
“Done,” Juntae announced happily, already taking the shapes toward the oven.
Juntae fiddled with the oven, adjusting the heat and time, while Gotak just watched him, leaning against the counter.
“Did you like it?” the taller one asked.
Juntae didn't answer, finishing adjusting the appliance before turning and walking toward Gotak. He lifted his feet, trying his best to reach the other boy's height, before planting a quick kiss on his boyfriend's lips and hugging him.
“Of course I liked it, you silly. The smaller one replied, smiling happily. Gotak couldn't help himself and hugged him, lifting him off the ground.
Juntae smiled, wrapping his arms around his neck. Gotak felt the boy's fingers begin to caress the back of his neck. He stared at his boyfriend's face, whose pupils were dilated and who was staring at him with a smile that was anything but innocent. The taller boy moved his hands to the boy's face, placing one on each side of his cheek.
“What is it?” Hyeontak asked, caressing his boyfriend's cheeks.
“Humm.” Juntae closed his eyes, enjoying the affection.
Gotak smiled slyly before capturing his boyfriend's lips in a kiss. He felt Juntae smile the moment their lips touched, removing his hands from his waist and sliding them up his arms, squeezing, and ending up around his neck, pulling him closer. This made Gotak sigh in the middle of the kiss, deepening it even further. He moved his hands down from his boyfriend's cheek, wandering down his neck and finally reaching his waist, squeezing.
He turned their bodies, trapping Juntae between the counter and himself, pressing their bodies even closer together. He took advantage when Juntae opened his mouth, letting out a moan, to kiss his way down the boy's neck and enjoy the sighs he let out.
“You're so beautiful, darling” Hyuntak said, between kisses. “Even with that ugly sweater.”
Juntae laughed, pulling away slightly and pouting.
“And you ruined the mood.”
Gotak laughed before lifting Juntae up and spinning him around in the air. The two boys held each other in a little bubble of love, the smell of cookies filling the room, while the snow continued to fall outside. Maybe their first Christmas wasn't perfect, but it was a start. And maybe Gotak liked those sweaters – even if he would never admit it.
