Chapter Text
Quackity had recently gotten Skeppy a job working at a run-down convenience store just beyond the small town they lived in. Somehow, it seemed like no one had gone to the store for at least a decade, though that never did stop the green flickering "open" sign from going out. Skeppy had just left the house a few minutes ago and was now driving to his newly acquired job. Skeppy was extremely tentative to take any new job after the last.... incident, but he decided this was going to be better than nothing.
The only reason he had taken the job was because, well.... he was down bad.
He had been sleeping in Quackity's spare room for a few months now after his mom had kicked him out. He had especially been feeling like the third wheel since Quackity had gotten a girlfriend. Him and Quackity had known each other for years now and it filled him with a strange jealousy to see him with someone else. Never mind that, point was, the only possession that was really worth anything was his car - a white 1998 Sedan, so it's not like he had any choice except to take the job. Still, it wasn't like even that had any worth considering its age.
Skeppy continued driving down the dark road lit only by the streetlights which flickered in and out of the windows in the car creating a surreal atmosphere. Finally, he turned off the eerily empty road to see the gas station.
From his position in his car, Inside, the store was blacked out but the gas pumps were illuminated by a single yellowish tinted light.
Skeppy wondered how he was going to get into the building if there wasn't anyone inside to unlock the door and thought it strange that they had signed him up for the night shift on his first day - well, night. He shrugged and parked the car before stepping out.
The entire job application process had been extremely odd now that he thought about it. Quackity had only told him where the station was and the time frame he would be working in. From 6pm to 12am. He didn't give him any other information. Not how to get inside. Not a work procedure. Not even if he had gotten the job.
Skeppy walked cautiously to the dark door of the gas station and flinched as a crack was heard to his left in the forest.
This place really was in the middle of nowhere.
He should be used to this..... yet still he felt as the hair on the back of his neck pricked in apprehension. Skeppy was tempted to push his way through the door to get out of the uneasy feeling hanging in the air but knocked unsure if that would be rude. After waiting a few moments the uneasy feeling became unbearable and he pushed his way inside anyway.
Finally, he stepped inside hearing as the old door clicked shut behind him.
