Work Text:
The two sat comfortably alongside one another on a worn wooden bench, admiring the view before their eyes. Vibrant hues of dazzling yellows entangled themselves within warm oranges, rosy pinks and velvety purples, all creating a breathtaking sunset for the two robloxians to take in.
As Brandon’s attention was focused on admiring the stunning blend of colours before him, Ozo was focused on something else— him.
The way the vibrant tint of colours tinted his complexion was.. mesmerising. His usual dark eyes glittered as the ombré of colour reflected within them. Ozo thought that he could stare forever at the sight before him— until he noticed movement.
He hastily steered his eyes to look at the sunset before him as he felt Brandon’s soft gaze tear into him, feeling as though he was being read from the inside out. A soft giggle sounded from beside him as his companion observed him— it sounded sweeter than anything he’d heard before.
He wished in that moment that he could listen to it on repeat until the end of time.
After realising how deep into his thoughts he was, he snapped out of it and turned to look at the boy beside him, who was still giggling.
“I..Hey! What’s so funny?” He exclaimed, playfully nudging the boy beside him.
“Pfft—hehe.. Nothing, nothing!” Replied Brandon breathlessly, wiping a tear from his eye and smiling up at the boy sat beside him.
“You’re just.. really pink.. pffft—“
“Wh— It’s just the lighting..!” He mumbled, evidently flustered.
“Mhm.. Sure, sure.”
“Oh shut up.” Ozo muttered as he looked back over at the boy beside him, smiling.
This moment felt warm, and Ozo knew he would cherish it forever.

The two sat in silence for a moment, going back to watch the last drips of colours fade from the sky as day turned to night.
They quietly sat watching as inky black finally purged the sky, slight tints of blue and white dots for stars lighting it up for a moment more.. until;
“..Hey, Ozo?” Brandon directed his attention toward the boy sat beside him, despite not being able to see his features very well.
“Mm.. Yeah?”
“When I die.. will you stay by my grave? I’m scared of the dark.”

As the last vestiges of green text faded from view, he sank to his knees and his head hung down low, similar to a ragdoll.
The pale blue light twirled with the bright beams of the sun and shone down on him, no evidence of change in sight. It almost felt as if it was taunting him— telling him how this wasn’t something that could be changed, much like the permanent daylight of the skybox surrounding him.
The emotions and memories swelling his mind made it worse, it felt almost.. claustrophobic.
As Ozo’s tear-filled eyes managed to slowly rise alongside his lowly-hung head and look upon the empty husk of his former companion that stood before him, he remembered what was requested of him.
At the time he had disagreed with his words, stating that he wouldn’t need to fulfil a request like that anytime in the near future, but he now had the real answer. He knew then and he knew now that his response wouldn’t alter no matter what.
…
“Of course.”
