Work Text:
Joe leaned up against the doorframe with a smile and watched Nicky getting ready. It felt good to see Nicky so relaxed again and without a care in the world.
Nicky: "Something wrong?"
Joe: "No. I'm just admiring your ass in those shorts, which is proof that it was a brilliant idea to spend some time in Jamaica."
Nicky: "For once, yes, I admit that you got a great idea. And my legs and feet also thank you for suggesting going somewhere you don't need to wear tick clothing."
For the last three years, they had been on a mission that required them to wear uniforms 24/7.
Joe: "You forgot your ass. It also looks very happy to get out of the uniform."
Nicky wriggled his ass, and he saw the smirk on Joe's face. It felt good to see Joe smirking again because it meant he had started to relax.
Nicky: "Yeah, you are right."
Nicky hung the wet towel on the rack before kissing Joe.
Nicky: "Ready to party tonight?"
Joe: "You bet I am, but first I want to show you something in the kitchen."
Joe took Nicky's hand and dragged him with him.
Nicky: "If you are planning on having sex on the table in the kitchen, you should know I have not changed my mind about it."
Joe: "Yeah, yeah, I know, no sex on the table where we eat, but I do love to eat you, especially if your body is covered in whipped cream from top to toe, so why is it I can't eat you on the table in the kitchen?"
Nicky: "Because desserts are best enjoyed in a soft bed where there is less of a chance of getting splinters in your ass."
Joe: "Fair point."
Joe spun Nicky around before kissing him.
Nicky: "What was it you wanted to show me?"
Joe: "Nile sent us another video from Macao."
Before Joe and Nicky could ask Nile if she wanted to spend New Year's Eve with them in Jamaica, Andy and Booker asked her if she wanted to spend New Year's Eve with them in Macao, which she said yes to because she always wanted to see that place.
Nicky: "Are they still keeping out of problems and jail?"
Joe: "So far, yes, and I think I know why."
Joe sat down on a chair and invited Nicky to sit on his lap, which he did.
Joe: "Because Nile is still so young, I think Andy and Booker have dialled everything down a notch because they don't want to scare her."
Nicky: "I think you are right."
Nicky chuckled.
Nicky: "Who thought we would live to see the day when Andy and Booker would act like adults or as adult as they can?"
Joe laughed.
Joe: "But it won't last for long. We both know that."
Nicky: "True. So, the video?"
Joe: "We will get to that in a moment because I want to kiss you first."
They kissed again before Joe started the video from Nile.
Nile: "Hi, Lovebirds. Everything is fine here - look."
Nile turned around so Joe and Nicky could see Andy and Booker, who were getting tattooed.
Nile: "Yeah, I know the ink won't stay, but maybe that is why they have decided to get matching unicorns on their assess. Could someone explain to me why it is that Andy is convinced that unicorns live somewhere in Scotland?"
Nicky looked at Joe, who tried to look innocent. Nicky still remembered the day when, after fifty years, Joe finally convinced Andy of unicorns' existence by telling her they were Scotland's national animal.
Nile: "Anyway, happy New Year from us all, and I see you both in Brussels in May. Love you both."
Nile walked over to Andy and Booker and asked them to wave to Joe and Nicky, which they did.
Nile: "And remember, stay out of trouble because that is what we are doing."
Joe closed the laptop and kissed Nicky on the cheek.
Nicky: "Could you ask Nile to take a photo of the unicorn?"
Joe: "Of course, but which ass do you want to look at?"
Nicky: "I meant from the wall or book or whatever they chose the motive from."
Joe: "I will do it right away."
Nicky: "Thanks."
Joe knew Nicky had been collecting pictures of animals ever since he found out that Joe could draw. And Joe still remembered the first animal Nicky requested a drawing of. It was a fennec, and if tattoos would stick to their bodies, Nicky would have gotten a tattoo of a fennec. It was there that Joe got an idea. Maybe it was about time to paint with henna on each other's bodies? Joe promised himself to suggest it to Nicky after they had celebrated New Year's Eve.
Nicky: "Let me find a blouse, and then we can leave. Could you find the champagne?"
Joe nodded, and soon after, they left the house. When they stepped out on the streets, they saw people celebrating New Year's Eve everywhere they looked.
Nicky: "I have missed seeing so many people smiling and laughing. And children playing."
Joe: "So have I. Should we buy some fruit or snacks?"
Nicky: "Great idea. I think I saw someone selling fruit over there."
Joe followed Nicky through the crowd, and after buying some pineapple marinated in rum, they made their way to the beach. After taking off their sandals, they walked barefoot through the sand while holding hands until they found the perfect spot to watch the fireworks.
Nicky: "Open up."
Joe took the piece of pineapple Nicky offered him.
Joe: "Juicy and tasty."
Nicky ate a piece of pineapple and agreed with Joe.
Joe: "Do you want the honour of opening the champagne?"
Nicky: "Thanks for the offer, but I think you should do it. You bought the bottle."
Joe nodded before he opened the bottle.
Nicky: "Why are you grinning like that?"
Joe: "I just remembered the sword fight in the wine cellar."
Nicky: "Which one?"
Joe: "The one where a group of Napoleonic soldiers wanted to arrest us for having sex in their General's office."
Nicky smiled.
Nicky: "Oh, that one."
They both laughed.
Nicky: "I remember we smelled of all sorts of alcohol for days after we escaped. And I also remember that we made it into the newspaper for destroying that ugly statue the General kept in his wine cellar. The General was more upset about losing the statue than all the wine."
Joe: "I had forgotten all about that ugly statue. Do you remember why the General were so upset about the statue?"
Nicky: "No, but I do remember it was a fun day."
Joe: "I can only agree. Here, take the first sip."
Joe handed Nicky the champagne, and he took a sip of it.
Nicky: "Not the best champagne I have tasted, but I am glad that the Germans have made progress in their champagne making."
Joe took a sip of the champagne and agreed with Nicky. Until the fireworks started, they looked at the horizon and the other people on the beach.
Joe: "Happy New Year, Nicoló."
Nicky: "Happy New Year, Yusuf."
They kissed just as the fireworks illuminated the sky.
Nicky: "Oh, I love that one."
Nicky pointed at the sky, where you could see a flower.
Joe: "Good choice. I love that one."
Joe pointed at the sky, where you could see a heart.
Nicky: "Incruable romantic."
Joe: "That's me."
They kissed before they drank more champagne and watched the fireworks. When the fireworks were over, Nicky stood up.
Nicky: "Should we find..."
Nicky looked to his right, where something caught his eye that made him smile. Seconds later, Nicky was swept away by a passing conga line, and when he looked over his shoulder, he saw Joe had also joined the conga line, while holding onto their sandals and the rest of the champagne. The conga line kept on dancing until they reached one of the bars near the beach, where Joe and Nicky ended up partying with the people from the conga line until dawn.
Nicky: "That was so much fun, Joe. I have missed dancing all night long."
Joe: "I can only agree with you. We should do it again soon."
Nicky snuggled into Joe with a happy, tired sigh.
Nicky: "Yes, let's do that."
When Joe looked down at Nicky, he saw that Nicky had closed his eyes, so Joe steered them back home. After a visit to the bathroom, Joe undressed Nicky and had him sit on the edge of the bed.
Nicky: "Why are you looking at my feet when we both know my face is far prettier?"
Joe chuckled.
Joe: "I agree about your face, but your feet do possess a certain charm, too."
Nicky: "I think that is the first time you have flattered my feet."
Joe: "A mistake from my side, that I promise I'll do something about in the future."
Joe took Nicky's other foot.
Joe: "And to answer your question. I'm looking at your feet because we lost our sandals somewhere on the way home. I just want to make sure you have healed up as you should."
Nicky: "That's very kind of you. Should I look at your feet?"
Joe: "Nah, I got this. I want you to go to sleep."
Joe got Nicky to lie down before he tucked Nicky under the blanket.
Nicky: "Aren't you coming to bed? I miss being held by you."
Joe kissed Nicky on his forehead.
Joe: "In a moment. I just need to go to the bathroom first."
Nicky: "Please hurry."
Joe: "I promise."
Joe kept his promise because less than two minutes later, he snuggled into Nicky and they fell asleep in each other's arms.
