A New Adventure!

Summary:

Midoriya and Nejire decide to have a New Year's celebration together!

Notes:

Yeahhhhh this one is honestly just entirely fluff.

And to really buy into the cliches and the romance of it all, I decided to go with one of the most cheesy things you could think of in a romance anime: The whole fireworks show.

Mhm, mhm. My personal favorite one is still from Kaguya-sama: Love Is War, but that's also incredibly biased because it's my favorite romance anime in general.

Anyways, Happy New Year's! I hope you guys enjoy!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Hey, Darrrrling?” Nejire hummed one specific evening as she traced circles with her index finger on his chest. “Are you doin’ anything for New Year’s?”

Midoriya’s eyes darted upwards for a moment as he sifted through his memories, looking for any plans that he might have made.

“Uh…I don’t think so?” He spoke, though it was clearly uncertain. “My mom’s got work for the New Year’s, so we’re postponing our celebration until the 3rd–”

“Aw, ptooey,” Nejire pouted on his behalf. “Being in healthcare sucks sometimes.”

Midoriya snorted, giving her a gentle kiss on the forehead, “Yeahhhhh…Yeah, it does. But it’s okay! The two of us are planning on heading up to Hokkaido for the weekend to do a bit of sledding!”

“Hokkaido?!” Nejire sat up excitedly from where the two of them were cuddling on Nejire’s bed, putting both of her hands on either side of Midoriya as she stared him down. “Why haven’t we talked about traveling all over the place before?!”

Midoriya only giggled, leaning up a little bit to give her a peck on the nose before going back down, “Because we haven’t had our break yet! I’d love to go to all sorts of places with you then, My Dear.”

He took in the sight of her smile, shadowed quite a bit by the fact that she was looking down on him, and her hair (even shortened) was still draping a little low.

Wait. Is her hair getting longer?

Izuku, ever the romantic dumbass, thought that was the case instead of Nejire just lowering her face ever so closer to Midoriya’s own, and–

“Mmph!” He squeaked out as she pressed her lips to his own.

So adorable~ Nejire’s heart fluttered at the noise her boyfriend made. As she pulled away, she savored the way his cheeks were dusted pink.

Can we think about where we can go, then, Izuku?” She smiled gently at him, and she couldn’t help but love the way he let out a breathless smile.

“...Again,” Izuku whispered. “Can you kiss me again? And then we think about where we can go together?”

Nejire smiled at him.

“Is that even a question?”

“Whoa, Midoriya, Nejire-chan, you two got busy!” Mirio playfully remarked, nudging him in the side with his elbow.

Nejire giggled, “He was the one who wanted to–”

Amajiki hit her with a deadpan look, “Please, no.” He’d been on the receiving end of hearing Nejire talk about how wonderful kissing Midoriya was way too many times, and he’d like to minimize that number in the future if he could. At least they’d never actually gone all the way, so he didn’t have to hear anything about that…

“You asked!”

“I literally didn’t…”

“Anyways, how could you tell?” Nejire hummed, though the holly and jolly aura surrounding her was enough to show.

…If it weren’t obvious enough, though, the absolutely dopey smile on Midoriya’s face as he basically stumbled his way through, hugging Nejire’s arm gleefully, most definitely told them.

“Anyways, what brings the two of you talkin’ to us? I thought you woulda stuck yourselves up in either Nejire-chan or Midoriya’s room!” Mirio smiled at them, always welcome for conversation with his best friend and basically his brother in Midoriya at this rate.

“Oh, Izuku and I were talkin’ earlier about doing something for New Year’s–”

“We were? I could’ve sworn that was interrupted by–”

“-And I thought that we could come here and ask you two what you guys are planning to do!” Nejire finished with an excited smile.

Mirio hummed, looking at his boyfriend thoughtfully, gently squeezing his hand. In turn, Amajiki gave him a shy smile.

“Tamaki said he didn’t want to go to anything super extravagant, so the two of us are actually planning to go to his family’s home. I’ve met them before, and they’re all really nice. Plus, I think it’d be nice for Tamaki to be somewhere he’s comfortable,” he explained.

“Awwww, that’s sweet!” Nejire smiled at the two of them, and this time, Amajiki smiled back with more confidence.

“But…I imagine that’s not really your taste, is it, Nejire-chan?” Mirio laughed playfully. “You seem like the type of person who loves going all out for New Year’s.”

“Of course I do!” Nejire cheered, pumping a fist in the air. “But since my family and I are doing our stuff a little later, I wanted to have my New Year’s with Izuku!”

“Oh, your family is, too?” Izuku asked, though his tone was still rather sing-songy. Kissing the love of your life does that to a person, though, so it’s not like anybody could blame him.

“Mhm! Though we’re not planning on going out anywhere. My uncle wanted to come over and try this spicy food challenge with a few of our family members, so we’re making a whole event out of it!” Nejire explained, and Midoriya blanched. If there was anything that he was not going to get better at anytime soon, it would be tolerating spicy foods. He was always surrounded by it due to growing up around the Bakugos, but it didn’t mean he was the best at it.

Unfortunately for him, he still found it fun to try eating spicy foods. Whoops.

“Ooh, so Midoriya, do you like doing exciting things for New Year’s?” Mirio turned to him and tilted his head. “I know that, this year, your Mom and you are going to Hokkaido, but what about previous years?”

“Ehhh, we really didn’t do too much, honestly,” Midoriya explained, gaining a little bit of consciousness back after it was kissed out of him. “Usually, we’d just see my grandparents further out in the country until a few years ago, and now we just sort of spend time cooking at home. This is a special occasion, though, since it’s the first one since I’ve moved out!”

Amajiki could relate; his mother planned to do the same for him for this upcoming New Year’s.

“I see. Well, what have you guys planned so far? Or at least talked about?” Mirio asked.

“Uhhh…well, if Nejire wants to do something exciting, then I’d love to do it with her!” Midoriya declared proudly, hugging her arm even tighter, and she kissed the top of his head.

“Wow…” Amajiki quietly murmured. “Nejire-chan’s really got you wrapped around her finger.”

“And he’s got me wrapped around his, Tamaki-kun!” Nejire declared with just as much pride as Midoriya did, a confident smile on her face. “And don’t you forget it!”

Midoriya continued, “Buuuuut…we actually haven’t decided on anything quite yet. The two of us still need to see what we could do!”

“How about food?” Mirio prompted, the thought on his mind considering it already due to having learned quite a few dishes for Tamaki’s sake.

“Ehhh, that’s more of Izuku and Ochako-chan’s thing.” Nejire sang. “I wanna do something that’s super special that’s only around for New Year’s. Besidesssss, his cooking is my favorite, anyways!”

Midoriya took that into consideration. What exactly was there that only really happened around New Year’s?

There were the general seasonal things for winter, such as sledding or skiing or something along those lines. That would be a good idea. But Midoriya wasn’t sure if it was as flashy as Nejire might have liked.

Though, he was sure that if he were to ask, she would end up saying that any of those options would be enjoyable as long as it was done with him.

He couldn’t help the smile from coming to his face as he realized that he actually felt confident in that sentiment.

Part of him wondered how it felt on Nejire’s side of things to have (hopefully, at least) the same feelings about the matter.

Regardless, there were definitely things that could be done.

What would make sense for somebody like Nejire? She’s probably done it all, really. Even if it wasn’t in public, she most definitely pursued herself in her own ways, pursued what she wanted in her own ways, even if it meant not being near others. Right?

He could be wrong on that. He knew firsthand how far social ostracization in one’s formative years could affect somebody even outside of such an environment.

Wait a minute.

We kind of need to communicate. Oopsies. I might’ve forgotten about that one for a moment.

“Hey, Nejire?” Midoriya asked, finally taking a seat next to Mirio around the round table that he and Tamaki had sat at. He sat on Mirio’s left side, Nejire sat to his own left side, and Tamaki was on Mirio’s right side, between Mirio and Nejire. It felt the most natural to them, really.

“What’s up, my Honey-Bunny?” Nejire asked with a smile, gently intertwining her fingers with Midoriya’s the same way that Mirio and Tamaki had found themselves doing so.

“What…have you done for New Year’s before?” Midoriya asked. See, the thing he had forgotten was that he could just ask what she’s done so they could just do something new. It wasn’t like he’d done anything spectacular for the event in quite a few years, so the worry of there being overlap was pretty negligible when he thought about it. As for her, he imagined that she’d probably have some pretty grandiose memories with her family throughout her life, as well as quite a few great memories of the past few years while she’d been at U.A.

However, of course, even with all the time he spent with her, he never could fully predict her line of thinking, as she fully disrupted that with, “Ooh, wait, before I answer that, can I ask something real quick, Darling?”

“Uh, sure!” Midoriya went with her flow, because he couldn’t help but enjoy the fact that he could always lose himself in her spirals.

“Can we go see the fireworks show, pretty, pretty please?!” Nejire pleaded, getting in his face a little too close for normal people's comfort (but definitely not too close if you were her boyfriend). “I’ve never gone on a fireworks date before! Let alone a New Year’s one!”

Ah, the thought finally made its way to Midoriya’s brain. That’s right. We’re each other’s first relationship. Of course something like that would make sense!

He smiled brightly, and Mirio and Tamaki both rolled their eyes playfully at the pair. Though, it wasn’t as if the two of them weren’t the same way for their first New Year’s together.

(The amount of cute pictures that Mirio snapped of Amajiki could never be brought to light, at least, if the Manifest-incarnate man had anything to say about it.)

“Oh, I’d love to!” Midoriya agreed with an emphatic nod.

“I’ve gone to a few before with my family before, but that’s different, you know? I’ve never seen the fireworks with a partner before or done all the stuff you see in those romance shows and stuff!” Nejire explained further.

At this, Amajiki gently smiled in Mirio’s direction as he admitted, “I remember the first time that Mirio and I went to a fireworks show together. It was definitely different from when my parents took me and my siblings there.”

Nejire whipped her head back to look at Midoriya with a proud smile, nodding affirmatively, “See?!” Despite the fact that Midoriya didn’t know why she said that like she was arguing her point, he nodded in response as well.

Now, one important part about the two of them that was actually rather different from one another was that Midoriya was the type of person who liked to plan events out as much as he could. When they’d go, how they’d get there, the different things they could do at the event, what they might need to bring in terms of emergencies like food and water, the whole shebang.

And also a few extra changes of clothes in case he had to fight a villain off (which Nejire had to very kindly explain to him that that behavior was not something that a normal person had to account for. Ah well, the struggles of being a main protagonist.).

Nejire was not.

At first, Midoriya had to admit that it was something that had kind of gotten on his nerves, just a little bit. It was something he really didn’t want to be upset about, because it wasn’t as though she was so carefree and not wanting to have such a rigid plan for the express purpose of upsetting him. It was her being her, and he wanted to accept her for who she was in her entirety.

Luckily, over time, he’d found himself becoming a fan of it all on his own, without any extra effort on his part. It was another part of her, yes, but more importantly, he saw that it was a chance to see Nejire choose her freedom yet again. It was a chance for him to see her smile that she chose to have, the joy that she gave in to. To see her fly freely, without reservation.

It was her knowing that she could fully be free with him, knowing that she could be who she is, who she wants to be, and for him to love her for it.

Part of him had wondered if it was behavior that was akin to letting her walk all over him (the less vulgar part of him did not want to think the thoughts related to that sentence right now), and he even brought it up to Uraraka and Tsu to ask for their advice, since they would be more likely to be unbiased about how he’s been treated. Even if they were also Nejire’s friends, they were also level-headed enough to know how to draw the line.

So, as per their advice, he did some deep reflection and tried to figure out how exactly Nejire’s carefree, plan-free nature affected him during their time together. Did it stress him out? Did it make the time together any less enjoyable? Did it feel like he was being intruded on?

He couldn’t bring himself, laying on his bed as he ruminated on these questions, to speak the word “No” into the universe.

As he found himself going along with her more improvised pace, he realized that he didn’t even feel the slightest bit bothered with it. It was most certainly odd getting used to it, yes, but he found it like a fun little adventure, really! It was finding out more about her, finding out what she was interested in at the moment, and more importantly, finding out just how beautiful her eyes could be when she was fully immersed in the world around her.

If he could go into the new year with her, well, he couldn’t think of a better time to start a new adventure.

So, he held back the “Is there anything in particular you wanna do at the one that’s supposed to happen near us?”

He held back the “Which one do you want to go to? Do you want it to be closer to us, or do you wanna go to a specific place that you haven’t been to before?”

The “Oh my god can I pretty please cuddle with you and tell you how much I love your eyes and your smile and your kisses and your excitement and being yours and being able to go on dates with you and making you laugh and everything about you please please please pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease?”

Well, maybe the last part was a little unnecessary.

Still.

He couldn’t wait to go on a New Year’s date with Nejire!

See, Nejire knew that wearing the yukata was something that Midoriya wasn’t quite expecting. Frankly speaking, she knew that, if it were entirely up to him, he’d be showing up in a t-shirt and shorts even despite the weather (and then he’d get what she proudly deemed the “Nejire sense” where he puts something that’s more suited for the winter because he knows that she’d be really upset seeing him wear something that would most certainly get him sick).

However, there wasn’t anything that a few cute pouts and, more importantly, the idea of taking romantic, New Year’s-based pictures together, couldn’t do to convince him.

So, she got him to agree!

“U-Uh, Nejire, Dear, c-could you help me with this one?” Midoriya stuttered, seeing the beautiful figure of his girlfriend. “I-I’ve never really w-worn one of these before…”

“Oh, that!” Nejire hummed casually, watching him struggle with the obi of the yukata. Perhaps it was the fact that he was so physically muscular that sort of built him this way, but he realized that his flexibility was rather lacking.

And…Nejire was very much seeing that lack of flexibility right here and now.

“Oh, the obi?” Nejire observed, watching his arms struggle to properly tie it behind his back. Though…

It didn’t seem like it was the flexibility part this time around.

Ah.

It was a dexterity issue.

“Uhh, if it’s easier, Izuku,” Nejire started as she finished tying her hair up, a look she wasn’t quite too used to but was fine to have on occasion, in her opinion. “You can just tie it in the front and then rotate it to the back. That’s probably easier if this is your first time wearing one.”

Midoriya only furrowed his eyebrows, “But that’s not it…I wanna be romantic with you, Dear…”

Nejire let out a sharp chuckle at that, though she looked at him lovingly, “Oh, do you want me to tie it for you, Dear?”

She walked up to him, and he blushed as he admitted, “I just wanna do romantic things with you, Nejire…”

She laughed, and no matter how many times she did it, she always felt like Izuku could make her laugh in all sorts of ways, whether with joy, softness, love, or what have you.

“I’m going to do all the romantic things possible with you, you know,” she informed him kindly. “And it doesn’t matter how long we’ve been together–”

“We’re going to keep finding new ways to love each other,” Midoriya finished for her. It was a sentence the two of them said to each other regularly, because both of them wanted to make sure their relationship could always be content in what it was, but never stale in that it could always be a new, well, what was it?

A new adventure, of course.

She rolled her eyes playfully as she tied his obi for him, and as he turned away from her, she embraced him from behind, causing him to momentarily tense up before melting in his girlfriend’s embrace.

She whispered, taking in the warmth that she was holding, “I’d love to tie your obi every time you wear it, My Love…whether it’s now, next time, or however many times in the future. I’d love to be the only one who ties it for you, Izuku…”

He turned red as he looked down, watching Nejire’s arms gently wrap around him, and asked in turn, “Can I be the one who ties yours, too, Nejire?”

He received only a nod, and even if he couldn’t see it, he could feel it from her resting her head on his shoulder from behind.

“There’s nobody else who I’d ever want doing it for me.”

That was one thing that neither of them ever wanted to change in their relationship, after all.

“Hey, Darling, what are you looking forward to?” Nejire asked, holding his hand gently as the two of them walked through the festival. She watched as his gaze shifted from stall to stall, taking in the sights with a certain inquisitive light in his eye that she both loved and hated to see right now, as it made her realize just how much he himself was unable to experience as a quirkless kid in a quirkist neighborhood. How many events he’d have to avoid because he didn’t want to worry about the presence of the bullies that would always hound him, regardless of where he was outside.

Sure, now that he had a quirk, it wasn’t like that anymore. But that wasn’t always the case. Hell, Bakugo made sure to remind him of that when he socked him despite them being teammates for their first practical final exam against All Might (a situation that Nejire made sure to ream Aizawa for. It didn’t matter that he was her former teacher, a hero should be a hero, damn it!).

So, seeing him live out those curious joys now felt incredibly satisfying to Nejire, even if it felt bittersweet to know he couldn’t have at a time when he really should’ve.

“Ooh! That food over there looks really yummy! Can we play those games over there afterwards? What about going to where all those people are dancing?!” Midoriya spoke each sentence in quick succession, one right after the other, and if Nejire hadn’t both been dating him and also had a similar speaking pattern at times, it would’ve been difficult for her to pick all of that up.

However, he was the love of her life. Of course she’d picked all his feelings up.

“We should get some of that food, and I’d love to play those games! I think hanging out with those kids over there would be really fun! I wonder if any of them might end up recognizing either of us from U.A. since you were really big in the Sports Festival or me from my internship with Ryukyu!” Nejire spoke just as rapidly, and Midoriya was hooked on every word she wanted to say. “Ooh, have you ever seen those dance videos? We could always watch one so you know what the basics are! Or I could show you!”

The two of them were like a positive feedback loop of energy, feeding off of each other and spiraling into further excitement, giving in and fully buying into the mood and the environment, living fully in the moment.

Despite not using their quirks, the two basically soared through all the places the festival had to offer, taking a frankly absurd amount of pictures in the process. Midoriya got a picture of Nejire spilling a rather uncanny amount of sauce onto the floor from her food as it was falling. Nejire snapped a picture of him trying way too hard at one of the games that was clearly meant for children. They both snapped a picture of them being corny and hiding their kiss behind an object. Things of that nature.

Yet, at the same time, the two of them couldn’t help but laugh at how much they’d done in such a short period of time. Like, dear goodness, they were basically going for a 100% run! It had to have been one of their most eventful dates in a short while, and that was saying something considering how active they normally were whenever they went out together!

Though…

There’s something I really wanna do at a fireworks show now.

The thought simultaneously existed in both of their heads, though they didn’t voice it. Besides, they were about 99.99% confident that the feeling was mutual (lo and behold, it absolutely was).

“So…” Midoriya hummed as he started walking in the direction of the conveniently placed hill that would also very conveniently provide a wonderful view of the fireworks.

“So…?” Nejire followed along, though a blush started to pop up on her face. Despite the fact that she’d so eagerly wanted to do this part with him, she couldn’t help but feel her heartbeat get faster as she realized just how intimate this moment was going to be.

This was her first time going on a fireworks date. She’d sort of been able to come to terms with that before they had even gotten dressed up in the fitting attire. But this? This was one of the most intimate things that she’d dreamt up when she first started having a crush on Midoriya, one of the things she had always wanted to do with him.

Because, of course, the appeal of fireworks in the sky had resonated closely with Nejire.

Sharing it with somebody she loved? Somebody like Izuku? Well, that was like a dream come true.

“Do you wanna, y’know,” he started, rubbing the back of his head as he heard his heart beat rumble through his head. “Go up and see the fireworks?” He shot a shy smile at her, and she gave one right back at him.

“...I’d love to, Dear,” she answered, and she decided to spill a little more. “Y’know, I wanted to do this from the very start of the festival, but I didn’t exactly know when the main show would start.”

“...Me too,” Midoriya admitted with a soft chuckle. “I’m glad that we were given that itinerary at the very start.”

Nejire giggled, “You’re mainly glad because it gave you a little structure, didn’t it, Izuku?”

She laughed a little more at the pink at the tips of his ears after she said that.

“You think a lot of other people are going to be up there?” Midoriya hummed.

“Eh, probably,” Nejire shrugged casually. “Lots of families come to this one for the New Year’s, apparently, but that’s okay with me.”

“Really? I would’ve thought…” Midoriya blushed at what he was about to say.

Nejire picked up on it, and only laughed some more as she squeezed his hand, “I think it’ll be fine if we share a kiss or two to celebrate the New Year’s, Sweetheart. Plus, I think it’s nicer to be around so many people that care for each other, you know?” She smiled at the memories she had with her family, all the times they’d gone together to these sorts of festivals and enjoyed the atmosphere, where everyone around her was happy and peaceful and in the moment.

Midoriya couldn’t help but lean to his left a little, resting his head ever so slightly on Nejire’s arm as the two of them peacefully walked towards the stairs that took them up to the best view in the event for the main fireworks.

“Hey, Izuku?”

“Hmm?”

“I know that I’m wanting to go up to a place that has a lot of people, but…you see those mini poppers and mini fireworks over there?” Nejire gestured her head towards a stall over yonder, and Midoriya nodded.

“...After the main fireworks show, do you wanna come over to my place and just have fun with those mini-fireworks?” Nejire suggested. “I think it’d be nice to have some time to ourselves after all of this.”

“Are you just asking this because you wanna be considerate of my social battery, Honey?” Midoriya asked, craning his head upwards to look at her.

“Mhm! Got a problem with it?” She playfully remarked, and shot him a shrewd smile.

“...Yeah, you’re definitely too nice to me,” Midoriya blissfully sighed, leaning into her a little harder. “I’m so happy to be yours, and only yours.”

“And I’m happy to be yours,” Nejire chirped gleefully. “I’ll buy some now, then!”

“That’s just ‘cause you don’t wanna forget about them later, right?”

“Mhm!” She admitted shamelessly, more or less dragging him towards the mini-fireworks stall.

“...It’s beautiful, isn’t it?” Nejire quietly spoke to Midoriya, leaning in so he could hear her. She was watching the look in his eyes, the awe in them as he saw the families flood the hill, the children skipping about as their parents did their best to keep up with the youthful energy. The amalgamation of young and old, of naivety and wisdom, of excitement and contentment.

All of it, all at once, seemed utterly beautiful to Midoriya right now, and Nejire couldn’t blame him. She felt that very same way, too, when she first saw these sights after she’d decided to get out of her shell.

“It is,” he agreed with a breathless nod. “How many minutes until the New Year starts?”

“Two,” Nejire answered after looking at her phone momentarily. “Hey, Izuku?”

“Yeah?” He asked, still taking in the sights in front of him.

“Do you wanna watch the fireworks when the New Year comes around, or do you wanna…” She shuffled around a little awkwardly. “...Kiss?”

Midoriya flushed pink again, “H-Huh?!” He started twiddling with his hands a little bit, unable to meet her gaze.

“I-I know y-you wanna do romantic stuff together, but I also know this is your first time being at a fireworks show, and I don’t want to pressure you to one side or the other,” Nejire explained sheepishly. “So…I wanted to ask so I know what to expect.”

Midoriya seemed taken aback at that, “U-Uh…that’s fair enough, I guess. I…guess I didn’t really think about it? Like, I thought I’d be going along with the flow, sort of?”

In an odd reversal of roles, Nejire was the one who wanted to plan things, and Midoriya was the one who wanted to let the feelings take over.

“That’s okay, Izuku,” Nejire gave him a comforting smile and squeezed his hand. The two of them walked up to the railing, finding a space just large enough for the two of them to squeeze into. There wasn’t a ton of room, and really, they were sandwiched in by two different families that’d also come up, but it was perfectly fine with them.

Except for the part where one child was moving about a little too energetically near the rail. If Midoriya didn’t want to seem like such a meanie pie by trying to parent somebody’s kid for them, he would’ve pulled the kid away from the rails and told them to be careful himself.

Regardless, it was busy, but that was okay.

“...I think we should just watch the fireworks,” Nejire hummed wistfully, and Midoriya could see a soft look in her eyes, as if it was in acceptance. “We can kiss any time we want, but this is a special occasion for you, you know.”

Midoriya frowned at that, but Nejire couldn’t see it because her eyes were still looking off in the distance, and Midoriya knew that look of hers.

One minute.

“...Nejire,” Midoriya put his hand on hers, which was resting against the railing. “Are you sure you don’t wanna kiss to celebrate the New Year?”

Nejire snickered, “I’d love to! I just also know that this is really special for you, and I wanna be respectful of that. I think you’d really enjoy how bright the lights are, and how much everyone cheers for it!” This time, she looked at him, and this time, he saw the fact that the energy in her eyes wasn’t as high as normal.

And, boy, did that make Midoriya not a fan of what was going on. He loved when Nejire was nice to him, because it made him feel special, and he made sure that Nejire knew he appreciated everything she did for him.

Thirty seconds.

But he did not love when she was being nice to him at her own expense, because, more importantly, she was also assuming what he wanted to do.

Twenty seconds.

“Hey, Nejire?” Midoriya prompted, squeezing her hand a little bit. “Can you look at me?”

Ten seconds.

She did.

It was time to lure her in.

“Are you just saying that because you don’t want to kiss me to enter the new year?”

Nejire flushed, pouting dramatically, “H-Hey! There’s nothing else I’d rather d-do–H-Hey, why are you grabbing m-my coll–Mmph!”

Her hands wrapped around his waist instinctively as she pulled him in, and she watched the wrinkles in his eyes formed as he smiled into the kiss right before she closed her own, the feeling of his hand at the front of her shirt collar shifting to him wrapping his arms around her neck.

They both heard the sounds of fireworks around them, the cheers of the families right by, the laughs of children, all of it.

As Midoriya eventually pulled away, still with his arms wrapped around her neck, Midoriya whispered, “Going into the New Year kissing you is way better than watching the fireworks.”

Nejire whispered back, an absurdly dopey smile on her face, “Y-Yeah…yeah it is.”

The two of them giggled at how blissfully Nejire spoke, and she spoke in a sing-song tone as she pulled him closer, “Wanna celebrate again?”

Midoriya whispered, “Of course, Darling.”

They closed their eyes once more, leaning into each other, and–

“HELP! VILLAIN ATTACK!”

The two separated from each other at light speed, turning towards the source of the sound, and then–

“IZUKU! REALLY?!” Nejire flew through the air as she shouted loud enough for Midoriya to hear from far away, her heroic senses activated fast enough that you could really tell she was at the level of a pro hero now.

“IT’S NOT MY FAULT, I SWEAR!” He defended, lightning coursing throughout his body as he activated One For All.

Sure, the two of them certainly wanted to celebrate the New Year with yet another kiss.

But, deep down, they both knew that it could only end with Midoriya’s villain magnetism activating yet again.

Well, hey.

At least they got one in for their new adventure!

Notes:

I am, uh, not finished with my IzuMina New Year oneshot yet, but I will be before January 2nd rolls around, pinky promise!

Either way, I hope you enjoyed! I'm becoming a big fan of writing for IzuNejire, so I think I'm probably going to start making some more things for them!

Anyways, yeah! Happy New Year!

Sincerely,

SpiritBloodDragon
