Summary:

After Cap died, he met someone already there and they talk.

Notes:

My first E! fic after a long time not posting anything at all.

I don't own them of course. They belong to Mark VII Ltd. and Universal.

Be nice and enjoy!

A Heavenly Talk

In Memoriam of Tim Donnelly & Michael Norell

Summary: Chet and Cap have a talk after Cap died. They talk about memories and their shift mates.

Chet was playing around and being bored out of his mind, really wanting to see how his crew mates were doing. Especially his Pigeon.

All of a sudden, a familiar voice came to him, ″Chester B. Kelly! What in the world are you doing?″

Cap! Hey, so it happened to you as well. Did you suffer?″ Chet asked sadly.

Cap shrugged. ″No idea, but I could hear all their voices. Mike, Marco, Roy. Even John – and he was so sad.″ He sighed. ″I know that I was like a Dad to him. To all of you.″

We all know, Cap,″ Chet assured him. ″You were the best we had.″

Thanks, pal. So what did you do all the time?″ Hank wanted to know curiously.

Chet sighed. ″Not that much. Just observing you guys. And to make sure that Johnny didn’t come up here. Yet. It was close sometimes.″

Cap patted his shoulder. ″I know. I was on the other end and thought Roy was losing it. But you know Johnny. Hardheaded and stubborn.″

Chet laughed a bit. ″True. But boy, was he surprised every time I shoved him back to his body. He was needed.″

Cap was shocked for a second. ″So that’s why he mumbled ‘Chet’ all the time he came back. And he was crying … ″

Crying?″

Hank nodded. ″Yeah, pal, he’s missed you, even the Phantom. Roy had to hug him, to calm him down. All of us, come to think of it. Despite all, you two were friends. Brothers even.″

Chet nodded, not trusting his voice. ″Yeah,″ he whispered. ″But this goes for all of us.″

Cap just squeezed his shoulder. ″It’s okay, pal.″ He sighed. ″Marco was lost without you. He soon left the department and chose a different profession.″

I know.″ Now Chet sighed. ″But you have to admit Marco is the best chef we have and so it’s natural, I guess.″

And what do you think of Mike’s career?″

Chet snickered a bit. ″When he grew that mustache, he looked funny for sure.″ Another sigh. ″Mike is a good man. Also as a captain of his own station. A steady silent presence. That’s our Mike.″

True,″ Hank agreed. ″I was sorry to let them go.″ He sighed. ″And our paramedic duo?″

Chet didn’t know if he should laugh or cry. ″Interesting that they both made captains. With their own stations.″ Then he sighed. ″Gage matured somehow but was still accident prone, though a bit less than usual.″ Another sigh. ″If Mike and Roy hadn’t been there, and me sometimes, Gage would have been dead. I couldn’t let that happen.″

And Roy?″ Hank asked curiously.

Well, he’s Gage’s best friend. Will be forever, I guess.″ He looked at Cap. ″Enough memories. Ready to show you Heaven, Cap?″

Sure, pal. Lead on,″ Hank replied smiling. ″You’ve been here longer.″ Chet grinned and Hank laid his arm around Chet’s shoulder. ″Now tell me, who else have you met here?″

And so the former shift mates walked and talked into the sunset on Heaven.

The End
