It was finally New Years eve! 2025... sure had a lot of ups and downs.
Kaveh looked at Alhaitham, "Haitham?"
"Yes?"
"Can we kiss right when it hits midnight like we did last year?"
Alhaitham can't help but smile at his partner, "Sure, granted that you manage to stay awake before midnight actually comes."
"What the hell does that mean... I'm no child! I can handle staying up past midnight!"
"Sure, but don't forget you pulled an all-nighter last night to make repairs for Mehrak."
"Tch. I'll be fine Haitham. I can handle being awake for more than 24 hours you know."
"Whatever you say.", Alhaitham goes back to reading his book.
23:58pm at 31/12/25
Turns out, Kaveh cannot handle staying awake past 24 hours, and Alhaitham likes napping with his boyfriend. So they both ended up sleeping on the divan, missing the countdown to 2026 completely.
10:35am at 1/1/26
Alhaitham was enjoying his sleep until—
"ALHAITHAM!!"
"H-huh... Kaveh... It's too early for you to be screaming—"
"No! We completely missed the countdown for 2026!!", Kaveh then makes a visibly sad face before Alhaitham sighs.
"Come here."
"For wha—"
And just like last year, they make out.
Alhaitham pulls away, slightly breathless, "Happy now? First kiss of 2026, not bad at all I'd say.", Kaveh, also breathing harshly from the kiss, starts laughing.
"Haitham... Thank you for staying with me despite how crazy 2025 was."
Surprised at Kaveh's genuine response, Alhaitham becomes slightly flustered, "No problem, Senior."
Kaveh sighs, "Welp, another year of putting up with you I guess." Alhaitham gives out a chuckle.
"Well, you have to care for your juniors, should you not?"
"No, and I would not have it any other way."
"Happy new year Kaveh."
"Happy new year Alhaitham."
