Work Text:
A weekend trip in the middle of nature with his favorite person in the world. Minho thought he couldn’t possibly feel happier than he did at that moment. Sitting around a campfire under the stars with Jisung was all he had ever thought he would get and he was happy with that. That was until Jisung pulled out his guitar and began strumming a familiar tune. Minho couldn’t quite place it at first, it definitely had to be a western song, maybe from a movie. Then Jisung began singing and it clicked.
Not what the song was but what it felt like. Minho stared as Jisung sang a hauntingly beautiful acoustic version of Sixpence None the Richer’s Kiss Me. He watched as Jisung’s mouth moved to the rhythm, admiring how well he sang the English lyrics that Minho barely understood. It didn’t matter what he was saying, Minho was enamored. He couldn’t take his eyes off of him, examining Jisung’s soft features half shrouded in darkness, only the amber glow of the fire illuminating his face and reflecting in his big doe eyes. As Jisung’s stunning voice penetrated his chest, it filled his heart with warmth. But once filled, it didn’t stop until it was overflowing. Minho soon became overwhelmed with emotions as the last 8 years flashed through his head like a movie with Jisung’s voice as the background music.
Before he could even fight himself from doing so he was on his feet, standing in front of Jisung with his hand outstretched towards him. Jisung stopped playing and singing abruptly. He looked up at Minho confused but soon that expression turned into realization. Minho could see it in Jisung’s eyes, he wasn’t the only one that felt it. As Jisung peered up at Minho standing before him, he could feel it too. The shift in the atmosphere, the sudden tension. The looming feeling that for worse or for better, everything was about to change.
“Keep singing,” Minho said, finally breaking the silence, his hand still open for Jisung to take.
A lump formed in Jisung’s throat so large he could barely breathe as he struggled to get out the words, “I can’t.” He stared at Minho so intensely as tears welled up in his eyes. “If I keep looking at you then I really can’t.”
Minho grabbed the guitar from Jisung’s lap and placed it on the ground beside his chair. Then taking Jisung’s delicate hand in his, he pulled him to his feet saying softly, “Then don’t look at me.”
Minho clasped Jisung’s fingers in one hand as he wrapped the other around Jisung’s waist and pulled him close. Jisung gasped as he was yanked impossibly close and quickly looked away as Minho had suggested. He attempted to resume singing the song, this time acapella against the eerie quiet of the empty woods. As he sang, Minho swayed the two of them in time with the melody and Jisung felt the water in his eyes that had been sitting just at the edge begin to spill over. Soon the dam broke and tears streamed down his face as his voice cracked through the lyrics.
As he approached the last line, a sudden burst of courage propelled Jisung to actually look at Minho. They locked eyes and Jisung finally saw Minho’s expression of pure love. He finally saw that he too had dewy eyes and red ears. Though his voice was shaky and barely coherent through his cries, Jisung’s eye contact didn’t waver as he sang, “So kiss me.”
Minho grabbed Jisung’s chin lightly and guided their lips to meet in a sweet kiss. With their lips pressed together Jisung’s tears flowed nonstop, wetting Minho’s face along with him but Minho didn’t care. As soon as Minho broke from the kiss Jisung sobbed out loud and wrapped both arms around the older one’s broad back. He buried his face into Minho’s shoulder, weeping and shaking. Minho enveloped his arms around Jisung’s small frame and squeezed him tight as he let him cry it out against him.
Jisung finally caught his breath and pulled away from Minho just enough to meet his eyes, asking weakly, “Since when hyung?”
“Since you held my hand in front of pd-nim.” Before Jisung could start sobbing again, Minho brushed his hair from his face as he asked, “And you?”
“Always.”
Minho pulled Jisung back into his embrace, kissing him strongly again. Jisung’s knees gave out from under him as Minho kissed him passionately. Minho held up Jisung’s fragile body and imagined that if he asked him to walk in this state he would just crumble to pieces. Without another thought he was picking Jisung up in a bridal style and carrying him to his bed.
Jisung clung to Minho until he was laid down slowly onto the bed. He looked up at Minho nervously as the optics of the situation sunk in. Their fervid kiss leading to him being carried to a bed suddenly had Jisung sweating. But Minho soon showed his intentions as he pulled the blanket over Jisung, sweetly tucking him in. He then glanced down at his own shirt, pointing to the large area soaked in Jisung’s tears and snot. Jisung covered his face in embarrassment and when he finally removed his hands Minho was taking off his shirt.
His eyes widened and he gulped hard as Minho climbed under the covers beside him shirtless. He snuggled up to Jisung, quickly trapping him in his arms. Jisung’s cheek squished against Minho’s bare chest as he closed his eyes, relishing in the warmth. He loved being so close to Minho like that but he wanted more. He would crawl inside Minho’s skin if he could but since he couldn’t he would do the next best thing.
He sat up swiftly and pulled his own shirt off. It was now Minho’s turn to sweat nervously as Jisung returned his body between his arms. Jisung pressed his naked torso to Minho’s for as much skin to skin contact as possible. Finally he felt some relief from that connection as he liquified into a peaceful puddle on Minho’s body.
As they laid intertwined Minho suddenly felt a droplet of water hit his chest. He looked down to see Jisung silently crying again. No wailing, just a few tears dripping onto Minho’s skin. Minho gently wiped the tears from his face. “Oh Jisungie, please don’t cry anymore.”
Jisung lifted his head saying, “I’m sorry hyung, it’s just…” He hesitated to continue but as he gazed into Minho’s big beautiful eyes he couldn’t keep it in any longer. “I love you so much.”
Minho’s heart burst in his chest and suddenly nothing mattered. Not what the members, the company or the world would think. Not all the years they wasted keeping their feelings inside. None of it mattered because Jisung was in his arms now and loving him.
Jisung watched as a tear rolled down Minho’s cheek in what seemed like slow motion. His jaw dropped in shock as Minho almost never cried. “Hyung, what’s wrong? You’re crying!”
“I’m just so happy.” Minho smiled softly as another tear escaped his eye. “I love you too jagi-ya.”
Jisung crashed his face into Minho’s chest, squealing with delight against his skin. “I never thought I’d hear you say those words like that. I never thought I would be able to lay here with you like this. It must be a dream!”
“It’s better than a dream. Dreams end when you wake up.”
Jisung blushed, rubbing his thumb in circles on Minho’s soft tummy as he asked coyly, “Then does that mean you will still love me in the morning?”
“Always.”
