Work Text:
Paisley placed down two empty glasses and a wine bottle, sitting on a white couch. On the other side was Rex, who was happily checking the time as it was New Year’s Eve. The two had planned to stay up until midnight, with Paisley already adjusted to staying up due to work. Rex however..
“Okay! Two more hours! I got this.” He stated to himself proudly, putting his hand on his hips. He then grabbed the bottle of wine, pouring a cup.
“Hey Rex?” He paused at the sound of Paisley saying his name. “Try not to spill it on the couch again.” She reached over, taking the bottle from his hands.
“It took forever to get that stain out.” She continued as she poured herself a glass. Rex replied with a giggle before asking: “Will I get a kiss at midnight if I don’t?”
Paisleys cheeks flushed a light red. She rolled her eyes, taking a sip of her drink. “Right. You’ll fall asleep before that you know.”
Rex huffed as he sat back on the couch, a creak coming from the movement. He playfully mocked her. “Youllfallasleepbeforethatyouknow- I’ll be wide awake!” “You always end up passing out before midnight.” She hit back, raising an eyebrow in amusement.
“..can I still kiss you?” Rex asked again bluntly, smiling nervously as he propped his elbow on the armrest. Paisley paused for a moment, making it seem like she had really taken the time to think. She simply took another sip instead of answering. Rex then scooted closer to her, his arm grazing hers. “Pais? Hon?..” “..maybe.”
She nodded. Rex then noticed her other hand trailing up his chest. He bit his lip happily. “..uh..maybe?” He stammered out, making eye contact with the woman sat next to him. She stood silent, reaching the neckline of his shirt and pulling him towards her. Rex decided to stay quiet as well, a tiny gulp replacing his words.
She leaned in closer to his face, her eyes making contact with his lips before she kissed them.
Rex’s eyes widened in surprise but he wasn’t opposed to it. He shut them, his arms wrapping around Paisley’s body. As she pressed her lips against his, her hand moved from his chest to his neck, softly pulling him closer. She slipped her tongue into his mouth.
He could taste the blueberry in her mouth, he coughed a bit from the unexpected taste, which made them both back away from the kissing session.
Paisley instantly felt worried, placing a hand on his shoulder. “Hey hey-..you okay Rex?”
He cleared his throat, nodding and holding up his hand. “Yeah—..yeah I’m good!” He looked up at her with a small smile on his face. “I just..you had wine in your mouth?” Paisley chuckled at the question, answering as she shook her head. “Haha..I thought you knew.”
Rex laughed as well, finally coming down his coughs. “..well..uh..I wouldn’t really..never mind!” He gulped nervously, looking away as he rubbed the back of his neck.
“..you wouldn’t what?” Paisley leaned in closer once more, raising an eyebrow. “Oh you know! The..kiss? With the drink?” His thumbs played with each other, trying not to be too embarrassed about the situation. “Ah..” Paisley sat back, her arm resting on the armrest.
“U-uh..could you do that again? With all the-..you know?” Rex replied with his hands making motions to his mouth. Paisley nodded, grabbing her cup, sipping more wine.
Rex then pulled her in for another kiss, being the one to initiate another make out session. The man’s face was blood red as he continued to press his lips against hers. Paisley’s hands went up to hold Rex’s face in place, tilting her head a bit. She felt her face turn warmer.
Rex’s hands shook as they went to her waist, continuing to taste the contents that the wine was made out of. Paisley pulled away, breathing heavily.
Rex wiped his mouth, sitting back. “…wow..” He mumbled in amazement, his head resting on the back of his couch before shutting his eyes.
Paisley’s placed the almost empty cup onto the table, checking the time. “Well, we still got a little bit of time before the new year. What do we say to-..” When turning her head back to her talk to Rex, she stopped instantly when seeing he was already passed out. She softly smiled and shook her head before shaking his shoulder. He stirred awake, instantly sitting up and blurting out.
“IM AWAKE!..I’m-..awake.” “If you’re really that tired you should go to bed hon.” She grabbed his hand, reaching up to kiss his cheek.
“No, no. I’m fine..really.” Rex said, shaking his head, turning to her and still somewhat half asleep. “Just..give me a second..” He started drifting off again, which made her place her hands on his chest and hold him up.
“Okay..” Paisley said to herself, slowly moving herself so she could lay down Rex on the couch. “Go to sleep, okay Rex?” He groaned quietly, but whether he was agreeing or disagreeing, he had already been falling asleep.
She let her fingers go through the bit of hair he had before moving from the living room to the bedroom, grabbing an extra blanket they had. She walked back to the couch, covering her husband with the blanket.
“..Goodnight Rex.”
