Qin Shi Huang sat in the waiting room no.7.
There was some issue about mankind. Gods decided to wipe out all mankind. Some deities agree and some do not. Hence, there was arranged marriage between chosen deities and human representations to determine the outcome of mankind's fate. Anyone who falls in love first will lose. It was the battle of seduction. Qin Shi Huang was one of the human representatives. He’ll be married to one deity.
The door in this room opened.
A God with silver hair and white outfit entered gracefully. Qin listened to the sound due to blindfold eyes. He asked, “You’re the God who will be married to me?”
“Yes,” the voice sounds flat.
“I’m Qin Shi Huang,” the King of Men smiled.
“Hades,” the God of Underworld stated. Hades sat beside Qin Shi Huang since there was only one loveseat in this room facing the door.
Qin turned his head to Hades, “You’re surprisingly cooperative and calm, considering the fact that you will be married to a complete human stranger.”
Hades turned his attention to the human representative who continued, “I passed another 6 rooms and they’re certainly not quite. I don’t know whether they scream out of frustration or having sex right away but they’re loud.”
“I can say the same about you,” Hades began. “You can scream at the top of your lung and protest being married to a stranger.”
“It’s different for me,” he said. “We, representatives of humanity, don’t have a choice. But, you… one of the God representatives. You have a choice. You aren’t doing this willingly, are you?”
Hades admitted, “Not at first.”
Qin was curious, “And then?”
“You’re pleasing to the eyes,” Hades said pointedly.
Qin didn’t expect that. Clearly, that was not what he expected the God to answer. One thing to get that word from humans because Qin knew humans find him pleasing to the eyes. But, to hear that from God, it was something.
“So, this is your move?” Qin grinned. “You’re not just cooperative and calm. You’re also quite straightforward.”
“Do you prefer me to lie?” Hades asked.
Qin let out a snort at that and leaned back on the sofa. He faced the door, “No, don’t bother. I don’t like liars.”
“It makes both of us, then,” he looked at the door again. “Neither of us know each other. Let alone agree willingly for this marriage. But, we don’t have to stay miserable through this arrangement.”
Qin regarded Hades carefully. He was surprised how calm and rational Hades was during this conversation. He was interested, “And what do you suggest to change that?”
“I’m not suggesting we should do dramatic action, like sex, to make the others fall in love. Lust won’t make neither of us win in this arrangement. Lust doesn’t always mean falling in love. Physical attraction doesn’t equal love.”
That definitely caught Qin off guard. He looked a little taken back. He wasn’t expecting Hades to be so open about all these things. The objective for this arrangement was to make the other representative fall in love. And this God of Underworld is just elaborate on his assignment. He said with a hint of disbelief, “You’d seriously think something like that?”
“I know physical things mean nothing to me without any feeling involved.”
“Wow, so you're a mushy mushy type?” Qin was somewhat surprised and intrigued. “I thought Gods just take whoever they want and be done without looking back.”
Hades closed his eyes with an eyebrow twitched, “I’m not saying none of my colleagues isn’t doing that. Several actually did what you just described but not all of us did that.”
Qin chuckled, “You’re quite something, you know that?”
“I’ll take that as a compliment,” Hades raised an eyebrow.
“You should. I’m very picky with my compliments,” he said with a slight grin, a hint of playful mockery in his voice.
Hades amused, “I can tell.”
“Now that we’ve settled, you don’t want me to jump on you to do this arrangement because you don’t appreciate physical things without feelings, I suppose we should get to know each other a bit, then.” Qin Shi Huang summed up.
Hades silence for a moment before, “What do you want to know?”
Qin shrugged, “Let’s start with the basics. What God are you?”
Silence followed because Hades expected this human to know him before Hades found this amusing and smirked, “I’m King of Helheim. God of the Underworld, King of Men, Qin Shi Huang.”
“It doesn’t ring any bells but you’re more interesting than other Gods I heard who just take anyone as he pleases,”Qin grinned. Then, he added with a playful tone, “Hubby~!”
Hades closed his eyes again, Qin talking about one of his younger brothers. But, the last word made him smile slightly, “Right back at you, Husband.”
