Work Text:
Kimi is leaning practically all his weight against Sebastian. He takes it without complaint, though. Even though he’s rather drunk too, he knows Kimi is definitely the worse of them. And who could blame them. The job they’d all just completed was by far the most difficult they’d ever had, Lewis had almost died, so they were certainly going to celebrate all making it home alive.
The night had run long, and the two of them had been practically joined at the hip for most of it. But then, Kimi was almost too drunk to move, slurring more than mumbling, and Sebastian had decided to call it a night, so he had hoisted Kimi on his shoulder and the two were slowly pulling each other one step at a time to the rooms they’d rented earlier. They giggled drunkenly together as Kimi slipped a bit on the last step. Sebastian dutifully continued to maneuver them both down the hall and into the room Kimi and Fernando were supposed to share. Fernando was still downstairs, likely nodding off to another Jenson story, so he and Kimi were alone.
Sebastian sets Kimi down on his bed, and he immediately flops down, sighing, pleased, at the soft cushioning that greets him. “Oh Jesus man, at least take your shoes off. What are you, an animal?” he chides lightly, quiet laughter bubbling out of him as he kneels down to unlace Kimi’s boots for him. After removing both, he hoists the half-orc’s heavy legs onto the bed and fumbles a bit to pull the covers up to tuck him in. He laughs again as he does, the alcohol making his thoughts flow sweet and slow like honey. How nice, he thinks. Like they’re partners, he ignores. “There, all set,” he says, pulling his head away from whatever path that was.
Kimi opens his eyes to watch Sebastian as he sits down on the bed beside him. The moonlight filtering in from the window casts a gentle light on him, softening all his features. His golden hair looks flecked with silver, and the light filters through his wings, making the chrysalis patterns shimmer slightly as though full of stars. Seb smiles down at him and it’s like having another drink, the feeling flowing dangerously through him, warming him beyond belief. He can’t help but think of the Fae beings of myth. Those immortal, ethereal creatures of unspeakable grace and beauty. As he watches Seb he knows, those beings are nothing compared to the pixie sat before him. To kind, honest, indescribable Sebastian. He could watch him forever.
To his horror, however, Sebastian stands to leave. “Get some rest now. Your hangover is going to be legendary,” he laughs. Don’t go, Kimi wants to say, but his tongue is heavy in his mouth, his body sluggish. Still, he wills himself upright. He has to keep Seb here, with him. “All my hard work-” Sebastian starts, but he’s cut off my Kimi grasping his arm and pulling him back into a tight hug, burying his face in his chest. Kimi’s grip is just enough that Sebastian could pull away if he wanted. But he doesn’t. He rests his hands on Kimi’s shoulders and just softly holds him. He feels suddenly inclined to card his hand through Kimi’s hair, so he does, impulse control dampened by the drink. That’s his excuse anyway.
Kimi relaxes at the touch, shoulders slumping and grip tightening slightly around Seb’s waist. They’re the picture of bliss there, together in each other’s arms, faintly lit by the moonlight. “Stay,” Kimi finally manages, face still buried in Sebastian’s tunic.
“And do what?” he asks coyly, the words slipping out unbidden before he could process them, his natural disposition to displace sincerity with flirting overwriting anything else. He really couldn’t say why he said it. He wants to stay with Kimi, hands in his hair, on his face, everywhere. To bury himself in this moment, but he knows he’s not thinking clearly, and if he isn’t, Kimi definitely isn't. Staying could only end badly for both of them on multiple levels. He can’t take advantage of Kimi like this, so vulnerable and open in a way he’s never seen. He has to be the responsible one, where Kimi cannot. Before he can correct himself, Kimi shakes his head, pulls back, and rests his chin on Sebastian’s chest to look him right in the eye.
“Just stay,” he says. His eyes are so clear and honest it shocks Sebastian a bit sober. He blinks, processes, as he realizes that really is all it is. A pure, simple request that he couldn't possibly refuse if he wanted to. Vaguely, in the back of his mind, that sober part, he thinks he could probably never say no to Kimi. Probably would never want to. But it sinks away before it can become a conscious thing to consider, to fear. So he says,
“Yes, okay.” It’s barely a whisper, but it’s perfectly clear in the calm air of the silent room. As Kimi moves to lay back down, Sebastian follows him, pressing a little close in the smallish bed that Kimi takes a significant portion of. He pushes his own shoes off and pulls the covers up over them both, eventually laying down face to face with Kimi. He can feel the warmth radiating off him. It’s quite comfortable despite everything. They lay there, staring at each other in companionable silence until Sebastian can’t keep his eyes open and drifts into sleep.
Kimi stays up, watching him a little longer, trying to memorize every feature of Seb’s resting face. To capture in his mind's eye the beyond ethereal beauty, so that even when he wakes up, bleary eyed and forgetting everything else, he can still replay this moment for the rest of his life. Carefully, he moves to lay his arm over Seb and pull him just that much closer. Seb smiles just a bit. Hazily, Kimi wonders if he’s still awake after all as he himself drifts into deep slumber.
Somehow, it’s one of the most restful nights either of them have ever had.
