Chapter 1: Realisation

Chapter Text

One minute Inumaki was walking alongside, maki, panda, and Yuuta. The group had come to a halt as a dark cloud formed in front of them, with a loud bang Toge’s vision had gone blank.

He woke up god knows how long after the attack, slumped against the wall of an alley. It smelt like death so Toge rushed out, surprisingly he wasn’t greeted by the streets of Tokyo but by massive crowds of curses.

He scampered back to the alleyway, looking out to the masses of curses. He thought, ‘Geto was dead, how could there be so many damn curses roaming the streets!’

Calming himself down Toge felt a presence behind him, whipping around he saw some grotesque humanoid curse, it had multiple eyes, arms and mouths. Without a second thought he pulled down his neck warmer and yelled “Stop!”

The curse froze, letting out a pained noise as it attempted to move.

Toge sighed fixing the garment around his neck. Now he needed to find a way to the others from where ever he was. The problem being he didn’t want to risk walking into a crowd of curses. Sure weak curses group together but the sheer amount of them would definitely overwhelm him.

As the teen thought of a plan he began to realise, though there were those curse there was no cursed energy at all. He focused on the crowd, there was cursed energy but it was weak and like the energy of a normal person.

Then the realisation dawned on him. These weren’t curses, they were people. He turned back to the ‘curse’ who was passed out, back of its head bleeding due to it falling.

Toge pressed his hands to his face, pinching the bridge of his nose. Where the hell was he? Why were there human curses?

“Hey you! Hands up!” Inumaki startled, looking towards the owner of the voice, it was a man, late twenty’s most likely, the teen caught a glimpse of red eyes behind his cage like goggles. Weird.

Before he had the chance to think of escaping, a thick white fabric wrapped around him, tightening. “I saw what you just did to that man. The police are on the way, don’t make this any harder than it has to be.

The words blended together, Toge still stunned by the fact he was getting arrested, frozen like a deer in headlights.

He was only able to snap out of his daze when he felt handcuffs snapped onto his wrist, cold metal digging into his skin. The cuffs made his cursed energy feel weaker, but it wasn’t gone, almost like it was muffled. Before he knew it he was shoved in the back of a police car.

The lights were too bright, Toge felt a headache forming, what time was it? The teen couldn’t tell where he was, the white walls were blurring together, the only thing grounding him were the handcuffs digging into his wrists. He had been sat in an interrogation room all alone for either five minutes or five hours, at this point he couldn’t tell.

Letting out a groan he slumped forward, resting his head against the cold metal table. His cuffs seemed too tight, his clothes too dirty, he ripped his collar down, taking deep breaths, at this point he was too tired to care if they saw is markings, everyone he saw looked freaky enough so he assumed they wouldn’t care.

His head snapped up as the door opened, a man walking in and sitting in the chair across from the table. “Hello, my name is Naomasa Tsukauchi, I’m the detective assigned to your case.”

The man, Tsukauchi seemed tense, Inumaki could tell. “Can you tell me your name?” He asked, squinting his eyes slightly, analysing the boy.

Inumaki shook his head, pointing to his mouth before making an ‘x’ with his hands.

“You can’t speak?” The detective’s lips pursed as he was met with a nod. “I see… I suppose you will be able to communicate if we give you a pencil and paper then?”

Inumaki nodded again, watching as Tsukauchi got up to get said note pad and pencil.

The second that door closed Toge jumped up, turning to the wall. “Crumble!” He yelled, watching as the cement fall. He sprinted out, cuffed hands in front of him, he heard someone yelling stop behind him. Inumaki didn’t even think of looking back, he had to get as far away from those people as he could.

“Toge!” A voice called out from an alley way. Inumaki could’ve cried tears of joy. Panda!

“Woah Toge, what’s with the cuffs? How did you get in trouble already?” Panda chuckled, grunting as he ripped the chain in half, at least he could move his hands independently.

Toge sighed, man he was tired. The teen just shrugged “Fish Flakes.” He mumbled, peeking out the alley, squinting at the bill boards.

All he saw were people dressed in tacky clothes posing on the signs. Was this promo for a movie? He made out words like ‘Hero’, ‘Allmight’, ‘Class 1A’, and U.A, the hero school?

“What the hell is a hero school?” Panda asked from behind all Toge, also squinting at the signs. “So I’m assuming we are in a different universe. I saw a lady with fire for arms, and a kid with a spray bottle as a head.” He mumbled, finger tapping on his chin. “If you’re here, Maki, and Yuta should be here too. I’d assume they are close by too, or at least in this city.”

Inumaki nodded, yes, they needed to find the two, hopefully they had at least found eachother by now.

Then he realised, he hadn’t eaten since yesterday. Toge went up to the most human person he could see, using his phone to ask where the nearest place to get food was as all the shops around them were full of clothes and souvenirs.

“Tuna, Salmon roe.” Toge huffed, pointing to the direction the lady directed him.

“Oh nice, a mall. We can also find some more information about this place.” Panda nodded, walking towards the mall.
