Work Text:

It would take only one deep thought to notice how he was in love with Hannah.

It never really crossed Minute’s mind before, but now– with her sitting next to him on this bench, both of them accompanied by the silence together and their own thoughts— Minute only realised now how beautiful Hannah was.

She’d always be there for him, she always made sure to not make him feel left out. Even when she was surrounded by thousands of people that loved her, Hannah would somewhat choose to notice him first. Minute really loved her for that. Minute loved being the center of Hannah’s attention, her first thought.

He never noticed how differently he acts around her, either. Minute always made her his first priority, gave her flowers that she liked, gifts that she’d cherish forever, and a type of affection he never considered to give to anyone else before. Minute glanced to her direction, noticing how she seemed to also be in her own train of thoughts.

Minute shifts his position on the bench, drawing himself closer to the woman. She seemed to have noticed and done the same. Hannah turned her head to him and gave him a soft smile. A smile he always liked to see. A smile that makes his heart flutter every time without him even knowing. He reciprocated her smile, because why wouldn’t he?

Hannah cleared her throat, fiddling with her sleeves. She breaks the silence between them, just like she always did when it became too awkward.
“Tonight’s a really cold night, right, Minute?”

Minute gazed into her eyes for a moment, admiring it silently. “Yeah, it- it really is.” He answered.

She looked up at the sky. The moon was shining pretty brightly tonight, and the stars shimmered along with it beautifully. It’s rare for him to see such a pretty sight like this, since he’d always looked at Hannah to see a pretty sight after all.

She continued, “It’s gonna be Valentine's Day by tomorrow, do you have anyone in mind, Minute?” She looked back at him again, and they locked eyes together.

He tenses up a little at the sudden question. He never really kept track of dates, so it was a bit shocking to hear that tomorrow was supposed to be Valentine’s Day. He never really thought much about the day nor who should be his Valentine.

…Or, maybe he already got the answer.

“I’m not really sure,” He said, “I never really thought about it before.”

Hannah lets out a chuckle. “Of course, that’s a bit expected of you. I guess spending time alone for Valentine's is also a bit nice too.” She taps her fingers on her knees in a rhythm. She always does that when she’s trying to think of what to say next. He knows it.

“Well, what about you then? Do you have anyone you wanna go with, or..?” He asked curiously. (Secretly hoping it’s him.)

She shook her head, “Nope! I don’t think so. Just like you, I never really thought about it much. I’d rather spend some quiet time with myself, enjoy my own little things. It’s like a vacation day of some sort for me.” She explained, her hands moving animatedly as she spoke.

Minute observed her closely as usual. He always does. No matter if she’s talking, moving, or just existing in general, he always watches.
“Well, do you have… uhm.. Any ideas, then?”

Hannah hummed softly, once again tapping her fingers against her knees. “Prooobably not… I really have no idea. I feel like all my friends are already occupied. And I'm just here all alone.”

“But I’m here, though?” He muttered.

It wasn’t meant to be said out loud like that. It was supposed to be a whisper to himself. But then again, it’s not like he was wrong. He sometimes thought of becoming her Valentine. Being the one to hold her hands as more than just friends. He sometimes hoped it was true.

He looked at her face again. She seemed caught off guards by his words, her tapping seemed to have stopped. Maybe she was trying to process it, which was likely the case. Hannah didn’t seem to expect it from Minute out of all people.

But in reality, she probably should’ve.

In fact, everyone probably already knew he was in love with Hannah. Just not himself. It was obvious enough– heck, even a blind person could see the feelings he had for Hannah. It’s just that he was probably in denial at first. Minute probably thought this was normal, up until he realised that he never did the things he did for Hannah with anyone else.

Minute cleared his throat. With a hint of nervousness in his voice, he decided to speak again. “I’m here, Hannah. I am always here. Just… waiting, I guess. But if you really don’t have anyone else, you could.. Always, uhm… be with me. I’m fine with it.”

Hannah glanced at their surroundings. After a moment, she lets out another chuckle, a bit louder this time. “You’re finally saying this now? Right when I least expect it?”

He raised a brow in confusion. She noticed it and continued, “I uhh… I sometimes wonder if you liked me that way. ‘Cause, y’know… It just kinda makes sense. But I didn’t want to assume so I never asked you or anything.”

“You can ask. I’ll be honest.”

She stared into Minute’s eyes, her gaze softer this time.
“Do you have a crush on me, Minute?” She questioned him.

He took a deep breath, and sighed, “Yes. Yes I do.”

“Do you want to be my Valentine, then?” She asked again.

The answer doesn’t differ. “Yes. I want to… I wanna be your Valentine… Hannah.”

She smiled again, looking away as her face slowly flushed red. He’s probably flustered too, though he really wasn’t sure if he needed to hide it anymore. It was awkward, suddenly admitting that he liked Hannah that way. But it really is just the truth. Minute can’t deny a truth like that, never. Especially when it’s about Hannah.

She suddenly moved closer, taking his face into her hands and cupping it ever so gently.
“I think I like you that way too.” Hannah said, leaning in to give a small kiss on his forehead.

He couldn’t help but tense up at the action. This unusual affection. Hannah had always given people kisses on their foreheads and cheeks, but never in this way. No, never this way. Minute could feel his heart racing faster as the time passed. He always thought Hannah wouldn’t return the feelings. She’d probably see him as just one of her close friends. One amongst many of them. Just a really lucky man that got her attention.

“I’m glad you feel the same way.” Minute muttered. His hands reach for her wrist, intertwining their fingers tenderly.

They’ve always held hands, but this is probably the first time it was done as more than just friends.

This was probably his first, and perhaps last Valentine.

He’s just glad that Hannah was willing to choose him. Minute was lucky as heck, knowing he had someone this beautiful to return his feelings.

He’s just glad that he chose Hannah.
