GMS gets nuked

Summary:

That's it, that's the fic.

Notes:

Funnily enough, this is the first oneshot I've ever written!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

On what would have been an otherwise normal day (as normal as normal can be in Pharloom, anyway) a very familiar, awfully annoying red-cloaked spider clambered her way up to the Cradle.

She was brandishing a rather large package. Two, actually, or - three, perhaps? Grand Mother Silk lowered herself to get a better look.

"I'm sure you remember me," Hornet said. "Hello again."

What is it now, Grand Mother Silk droned tiredly.

"Some anonymous bugs have taken it upon themselves to gather a few gifts for you," came the response, in a tone far too cheery for the dread it brought the higher being.

The anonymous bugs again. Grand Mother Silk let out a long-suffering sigh. The strange beings were appearing more and more often nowadays. Vaguely bug-shaped clouds of smoke, an unremarkable shade of grey, hardly tangible yet capable of procuring odd items seemingly from nowhere. They went where they wished and did as they pleased, acting in ways distinctly unbefitting of any common bug but that unfortunately seemed to be their kind of norm.

Hornet smiled, no doubt relishing the higher being's distress. "I sincerely hope you appreciate their gestures of goodwill. Inspired by their loving graciousness, I personally brought it upon myself to bring it to you."

"First off, here is a bag of muckmaggots I am going to proceed to open and throw at you."

True to her word, Hornet tore open the smallest packet and flung an absurdly large number of muckmaggots at her.

Grand Mother Silk started with surprise, quickly uncrossing her arms and batting away the vile, squirming things before they could chew her silk too badly. In all fairness, she should have expected that from the spider. She had hardly shaken the last one off when Hornet ripped the biggest package open with a grin.

"...it is beeping quite ominously," the spider observed. "I am going to depart now. Goodbye. And one more delivery, whatever this is."

SPIDER, Grand Mother Silk yelled, but Hornet was already gone. SPIDER WAIT-

The third package was left forgotten as the higher being rushed to what was unmistakably a bomb.

And a rather large one at that.

SPIDER WE CAN TALK ABOUT THIS.

A small snap pierced the air, almost silent yet loud enough to send Grand Mother Silk into a state of terror good and proper.

SPIDER.

Snap.

NO STOP WAI-

"Anyone hear that?" the Shade Lord asked.

As the last of the tremors faded, Hornet raised a claw and sent her thoughts into the Pharloomblr network.

The items have been delivered.
