Theodore Nott. Draco loved him. More than he could ever admit. That’s why it destroyed Draco to see him hurt.
Draco knew everything about Theo. He knew that even as a child, theo was always kind. too kind to a world that hated him. He knew that Theo’s father was so cruel. Cruel to him, cruel to his mother. He knew how this cruel man pushed theo’s mother until she could no longer take it. until her death, an “accident”. He knew that Theo was the one who found her.
It took until 5th year for Theo to tell Draco what his father did to him. He showed him the scars, the bruises, told him the true reasons for broken ribs. It hurt Draco more than anything to know that the boy who was too kind, had gone through the most pain.
In 7th year, after theo came back from a visit home, all draco could notice was how he was shaking. He could not stop. He could not tell Draco what happened. He was crying, he could not sleep until draco was in his bed with him, holding him.
The shaking went on for days after theo got back. draco was sacred. he was so sacred. He went to the library, hoping to find something about what curse causes shaking, about what was happening to theo.
It has been a week with the shaking. Theo barley slept in draco’s arms. he had to find something to fix this. he was desperate. he went to the only person who he found had a chance of knowing. Hermione Granger. He awkwardly approached her, asking to speak to her privately. she gave an odd look to ron, and followed draco.
Once they were alone, he was stuttering over his words a bit, trying to make it seem as hypothetical as possible. He finally asked if there were any curses that gave shaking as an effect. she looked puzzled, then concerned. she tells him the only thing that she knows of that causes shaking is excessive use of the cruciatus curse. oh, draco thinks. oh.
he hurries out of the room, hermione is saying something that he doesn’t take the time to understand. before he can think about what he’s going to say he’s back at the dorm. he sees theo. he yells at him, a stupid mistake he regrets immediately.
“Why didn’t you tell me?!”
Theo is crying. Oh no, what have i done, is all draco can think.
He practically runs to theo, and hugs him. that all he can do. it’s all he will ever be able to do. theos breathing eventually evens out and he says,
“I didn’t want you to know…i don’t want you to worry about me.”
And with that, draco is crying too. he just hugs theo
“i will find a way to make it better theo- i will. please tell me next time. please.”
theo hugs him harder.
“okay”
Draco knows he will always love Theo. and he knows that if somthing ever happens to him, he will not be able to keep living. he won’t. not without his theo
